Beautiful Light Brown Results with No Red Tones
I switched to Garnier Olia after being a loyal Revlon ColorSilk user for years, and I’m so glad I did. I had always used Revlon’s Light Brown because it was ammonia-free and gave me reliable results. Recently, however, I started noticing an unwanted reddish tone developing, even though I hadn’t changed anything in my routine. Since I had been coloring my hair the same way for years, I can only assume the formula may have changed. I specifically wanted another ammonia-free option, so after reading the strong reviews for Garnier Olia, I decided to try the Light Brown shade. For reference, my natural hair is dark brown with some gray, and it had been about 3 months since my last color. Because of the regrowth, I chose to follow the touch-up directions instead of applying it to my full head right away. I left the color on my roots for 20 minutes, then pulled it through the ends for about 7 additional minutes. The instructions suggest 10 minutes on the ends, but I shortened it slightly because I was concerned my previously colored ends might absorb too much pigment. The formula itself was excellent—rich, creamy, and very easy to apply without dripping. It starts out white and gradually changes as it processes. The results were exactly what I hoped for: a beautiful soft light-to-medium brown with subtle dimension and highlighted tones, and most importantly, no red cast at all. It covered my grays nicely, blended beautifully with my natural color, and left my hair looking soft and healthy. While it does cost a bit more than Revlon, the improved tone and overall result make it absolutely worth it for me. I’ll definitely continue using Garnier Olia.

A very good drugstore hair dye if you want shine and less damage
Ammonia-free: No strong smell and gentler on hair Shiny results: The oils help leave hair softer and with more shine Vibrant color: The 6.65 red shows up bold, especially on lighter or pre-colored hair Easy to use: Comes as a complete kit, great for at-home application

Dark Rose Quartz + Bleached Hair = Gorgeous Smoky Mauve
About four months ago, I'd lightened my level 5 brown hair to level 8/9 then up to 9/10 so I could play around with semi permanent colors. When my roots started to grow out, I knew I didn't want to keep bleaching, so I looked for something that might work well to blend my roots and cover my grays while also being bright and fun. I chose Dark Rose Quartz, and I think it turned out really well. But you definitely need to lighten if you want it to be dark pink and not dark pinkish-orange. The parts of my hair that were still a level 8 blonde turned out sort of an orange mauve. For upkeep, I plan to use Four Reasons Rose Pink shampoo to keep the shade from fading, and I know from experience to only wash with cold water. If it fades too quickly, I'll update the review, otherwise, consider it a success on PREVIOUSLY BLEACHED, very porous hair. Virgin hair probably won't look anything like this. If you're a level 10 gray or blonde, expect this to turn bright pink. P.S. I write these reviews because it's painfully obvious by some of the reviews already posted that no one does their research before coloring their hair. That was me until pretty recently. If you have little to no experience coloring your own hair, I recommend checking out Brad Mondo's videos on YouTube so you don't end up disappointed or worse, hairless.

Love the pink!
TLDR: NOT as pink/dark as I thought, but I really like it! Also, use 2 bottles if you have longish hair! So I started off with brunette (my natural) roots that was ombréd to a warm medium blonde at the ends. So first off I bleached it to get an overall warm blonde, let it rest for a few days, bleached again to get closer to a warm platinum, rested a few days, toned to get to a more neutral base, then dyed. It took me about 30 minutes to get the dye applied and then I left it for about 40 minutes to process. At the end of application, I was super close to running out, so if you have hair aaaany longer or thicker than mine, you definitely want to use 2 boxes for 1 application! Also, a word to the wise- any inconsistencies in bleaching or toning show!! I have patches that are warmer than others because my base color was inconsistent. Thankfully I don’t really care that much, but I know some people would. The color went on white/clear, turned a deep pink (“dark quartz”, anyone?) and when washed out (without shampoo the first time!) faded to a really soft pink. Not like the pictures at all. Maybe I didn’t leave it to process long enough, who knows. So if you’re going for dark pink, maybe try leaving it a lot longer than 40 minutes? Overall the product is great, just didn’t exactly give me what I thought I was getting 😜

Perfect and vibrant
Ordered Black 1.0, and it came out just how I wanted. The perfect black, my hair feels healthy still and the shine is beautiful. The box does say that it’s not recommended for highlighted hair, but my hair was lightly highlighted and it covered it perfectly. Also had quite a few grays coming in and I don’t see them now. Just a tip if you’re not familiar with dying your hair yourself, you’re going to want to rinse your hair more than twice in the shower. If it runs clear and you think you’re done, think again. Also another tip: the first time styling your hair, the black will run off on your hands, and possibly your bedsheets or pillowcase. It’s not a defect in the hair dye itself, it’s just a result of dying in your hair black with any brand of hair dye. But I do love it!! I definitely recommend. **UPDATE** Just wanted to update that black has not faded yet, which I have experienced pretty quickly in the past with other dyes. I’ve washed my hair about five times already with color safe shampoo & conditioner, and the color is still vibrant! Updated photo is the one with straight hair.

Rich, Natural-Looking Dark Brown
I used Garnier Olia in Darkest Brown, and I’m really happy with the results. The color came out deep and even, with a natural shine that doesn’t look flat or artificial. My hair felt soft and conditioned after dyeing. I wish they sold the conditioner in a separate bottle. Almost worth buying a box of dye just for the sample of conditioner! The application was easy to follow, and the scent was much milder than traditional dyes. Overall, it gave my hair a healthy, vibrant look, and I’d definitely use it again! I had light brown hair to begin with

The only brand I’ll ever buy!
I’ve been coloring my own hair for about 20 years now and I typically do it every 2-3 weeks. I rotate between the platinum black and regular black colors. I’m naturally blonde so when my roots start to show in the slightest bit I hate it! This stuff is gentle and effective. Covers the gray hairs and makes my hair super soft. I really like the conditioner that comes in the box. No strong smell and the dye is easily removed off the skin.

NOT 100% grey coverage!
The color is great but the one thing I didn’t like was that it did not provide 100% coverage for the greys in my hair. I saturated my hair (2 bottles) yet still had some(but not much) grey showing after rinsing. Over the course of a week later I had much more of my grey hairs showing through, so the color just didn’t take. Another positive is that the brand is very easy on the hair, not harsh at all, it just didn’t work well for me.

Don't buy. Did NOT change COLOUR at all, rinsed clear after 40 minutes. Unable to return. Waste of my hard earned money.

Very good product but pricey!
Can but in Walmart USA for $10.00. Can’t buy in Canada! Lovely colour, excellent product but very very expensive to buy here! So if you want this product, and you are in Canada you are stuck paying this ridiculous price! I would say gouging! It should be more reasonable priced!

It’s by far the best hair color I’ve ever used.
Covers all my grey. It’s gentle and doesn’t have much smell. Pricing is fair. Leaves my hair shiny and very natural looking. I use the light brown and it gives me light brown with lovely natural looking golden blonde streaks when I go out in the sunshine. It’s the only hair dye I will use.

Good overall colour
I found this dye easy to use with good instructions. I was concerned that there would not be enough dye to cover my shoulder length thick hair, but it did. I chose it as it was one recommended for grey coverage. I don't have a lot of grey, but it is stubborn! I did put a lot around my temples and hair line (twice), however I can still see a bit of grey. Considering what a mess my hair was before this, I am pleased with the colour (I went darker to cover all the colours I had going on).
