The Byrna SD is a compact CO2-powered less-lethal launcher that’s easy to use, has low recoil, and feels well made. It can be a reasonable option for someone who wants a less-lethal home or vehicle defense tool without stepping up to a firearm, especially if they value simple operation and are willing to practice with it. Its biggest downsides are cost, limited capacity, and the fact that it’s not a guaranteed stopper. You also have to account for ongoing CO2 and ammo costs, which of course is ongoing, but not very expensive at all and its real-world effectiveness depends a lot on accuracy, ammo choice, and training. Overall, it’s a solid niche option, but not the best fit if you want maximum concealability, the lowest cost, or firearm-level effectiveness. But there is a lot of stopping power and again it is called a non-lethal weapon so the power is just enough, and just right to get the job done. I love mine! And I will continue to buy from this company for life. They are constantly creating and innovating. I believe they are ahead of their time. That’s my opinion… Feel free to make it yours!

I love that it’s non lethal, but will definitely do the job of defense and give you plenty of time to get away from what could be the scariest day of your life. I’ve looked at cheaper options, and let me tell you… GET A BYRNA! Your life and safety is worth every penny. Just buy this!!! You won’t regret it!

Great “gun” Easy to load, easy to fire. I carry it all over town in my purse and feel confident and ready. Can’t wait to get a few more for my daughters and daughter-in- law.

Just received pistol today a little disappointed,it’s about the size of a mod 20 Glock and about half the weight.it shoots good,but the trigger really sucks. I got this to carry when in public. I have carried a Glock for 30 years now and always worried about a stray round.but the size and trigger is a concern.

Great product. I bought the LE and after a year or so I recently bought the SE. I love them both. Solid product. Best benefit is being loaded and on the ready as first trigger pull punctures the tank. First pull is slightly heavier, however the convenience is functional. How are you gonna explain to an attacker that he needs to wait a minute while you load something to shoot at them?
