Good Ingredients
Like the other reviews say, these are very smelly. I had to plug my nose the first few times I took them. I started swallowing them with orange juice and have had no issues with taste since then. I typically have a sensitive stomach with multivitamins, but I’ve had these for a few weeks without issues. I like the DV percentages and ingredients so I don’t mind the taste, especially since I can’t taste them taking with orange juice.

Quality ingredients! My only complaint is...
My only complaint is the smell and taste but that can't really be helped and it's a much better improvement than the last vitamins I tried! I would not recommend taking with a full glass of water, like the directions say, if you have a negative experience. I find it works better for me to take sometime after eating, but only take a sip or 2 of water after swallowing. All the extra water makes me burp up a lot of the taste. Also, don't take them all at once. At most, take 2 in the same time frame, several minutes apart. That being said, I'm very impressed with all the ingredients and I like that they do not contain the synthetic folic acid; they have the natural form (folate). It also has iodine, which helps your thyroid. Pregnancy can wreak havoc on your thyroid and you could develop hypothyroidism. It happened to my mother. Consuming iodine will help prevent that but there is hardly ANY food source with Iodine except iodized sea salt. Trouble is, you want to avoid salt in your diet so you don't swell up. The other reason I chose these vitamins is because of the choline, which is important for baby's brain development but hard to find in most prenatal vitamins. The vitamins I chose before these are these: Garden of Life Vegetarian Prenatal Multivitamin Supplement with Folate - Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal Whole Food Vitamin for Mom and Baby, 180 Capsules . On paper, everything looks right. It's made from real food, which, in theory, makes them easier to digest and absorb. However, they gave me terrible heart burn and I realized that garlic, green onion, ginger, and possibly tomato contained in the capsules were causing it. Those are known to cause heartburn both as raw and as a powder.

Yes they smell somewhat but give them a chance!
I was worried about the smell after reading all the reviews. The pills do smell somewhat but if you really smell them, you’ll understand they smell like seaweed or algae which is the source of one of the vitamins. This is a NATURAL source of the vitamin and means that you aren’t getting something that is synthetic. For those that are also worried, they don’t actually taste like they smell. There is no flavor to them. I think the issue of the smell could be resolved if the company did these in a gel pill instead of a capsule. I like that these have natural sources of vitamins and minerals. In the synthetic form, some of these vitamins can actually be dangerous once you reach a certain level but your body needs more during pregnancy. It’s a win/win. I also like that these contain a wider array of vitamins and minerals compared to other prenatal out there. I do use the NOW brand with DHA however, those are on back order and needed a replacement prenatal. This one fit the bill for most of the same array as well as being made with the natural sources. I already take Baby and Me 2 Choline/DHA to stack my Choline intake so I don’t have an issue with the DHA being removed in this prenatal. My dogs take fish oil pills and I just added one of those to replace what the Now brand has in it. I also take Inositol and Berberine as supplements with this. For reference, I have PCOS and have had pretty crazy menstrual cycles after a miscarriage 9 months ago but also was getting extra long cycles since post pregnancy 3 years ago. Between pairing a great prenatal with the Inositol/Berberine, my body is back to a normal schedule like before I had my son. I’m now ovulating with upwards of 12-15 eggs a month (at 38 y/o) and my Reproductive Endocrinologist stated everything looks great with my ovaries and reproductive system now. I attribute this to a high quality prenatal which goes a long way to help prep the body to be ready to get pregnant. I’ll update if I do end up getting pregnant again and how long that takes me so you have a reference on these pills. I will be trying for the first time post miscarriage next month. Until then, happy healthy pregnancies and baby dust to all those trying.

Yuck!! Why change the formula?!
The new formula (lady in purple dress) of this prenatal vitamin is ATROCIOUS!! Such an awful fishy smell and taste that I almost vomited after opening. And I’m in my 3rd trimester with hardly any nausea or aversions. I’ve been taking the previous formula (dark green/black dress) since late in my first trimester and it was PERFECT! Plant and real ingredient based formula with no fishy taste or smell, no upset stomach and my hair and nails are growing like crazy. It has the preferred formula of Folate and plant based DHA. I had them on auto-renew and the last bottle I received is the new formula. I didn’t think anything of the new picture on the bottle and waited to open my new bottle until I was COMPLETELY out of my old one. Now I’m 30 weeks pregnant with NO prenatal vitamin to take because the new formula is THAT AWFUL! I’ll have to go days with no prenatals while I begin the challenging search for another formula with Methylfolate that doesn’t make me immediately vomit. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste the $40 unless you like the taste and smell of dead fish rotting in a pool of rotting algae.. so gross.

Even Better Now!
Update: My wife was contacted by the company who recommended putting the pills in the refrigerator or freezer to minimize the fishy/ ocean smell. This helped. However receiving another bottle from a different batch made all the difference. She keeps these in the freezer and says they have no smell or taste like before. Success! Thank you customer service! I understand the company was on a mission to ever improve their product by using natural ingredients, which initially resulted in the fish smell. I'm glad they have figured it out and all is well. My wife has always enjoyed the quality of the product (in that she feels good on it) and will continue to buy and take this prenatal pill. Old post: Wife says....Not sure what happened but this latest bottle (now with a lady in a purple dress) smells and tastes like rancid fish. Very yucky! However, since I've had such great success with this product (NOT the postnatal version) I'm still taking them. Naturelo - please return your product to its original, flavor-free state.

Still fish scent as of June 21, 2021
UPDATE: The company reached out to me and apologized for my bad experience and offered me a full refund or a new bottle which was very nice of them! I decided to give them another try and as promised the company sent me a brand new bottle. In my opinion and the opinion of my non pregnant boyfriend, they do still stink but maybe not exactly a fishy smell, just an unpleasant weird smell. I will continue to take them as my stomach can handle them and they have a lot of great ingredients in them. I know most people don't like having to take 3pills a day, but I actually prefer it so that I can space them out over several hours so my body will actually absorb the vitamins. If you take too much of any vitamin at a time, your body wont absorb it all and can sometimes be counter productive. I switched from 3 to 4 stars because of the company's excellent customer service and because I think they're a good brand overall. I know the issue with the fish smell was the DHA but I didn't realize the new formula doesn't have DHA now. They said they changed to a "different ingredient still from the sea" but didn't say they took out the DHA. I'm a little worried now because I'm just realizing I haven't been taking DHA pretty much this whole time! It's my fault for not checking the new bottle but when a company changes their formula as often as they seem to it's hard to keep track of what's in it; which is why 4 and not 5 stars. There ingredients used to be organic and now they're not, but they're still non-GMO at least which is good. If they change that in the future I will no longer take them, but for now I'll stick with them and find a different way to supplement my DHA. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I used these with my first pregnancy 3 years ago, having chosen them after hours of research and comparisons. They seemed to work fine, they didn't upset my stomach and they were easy to take. I recently ordered a new bottle on 6/21/21 and it was the new bottle with the woman in a mauve dress rather than the black silhouette (which I actually preferred). I had read that they have a strong fish smell to them now so I was a bit hesitant to order them again. I read in the Q&A section that the formula was reverted back to the old one without the fish smell, as per the manufacturer so I thought it would be safe to order again. I don't know if I just got a leftover of the fish smelling formula or if the manufacturer lied about changing the formula back but the bottle I recieved deffinatly smells like fish! Picture of bottle including lot number of fishy vitamins.

Best quality prenatal multivitamin
I have been taking Naturelo prenatal multivitamins since my first pregnancy and I’m now pregnant with my second and will only take Naturelo, that’s how convinced I am that it’s the best prenatal on the market today. Both my babies are healthy and I felt great with high-energy levels throughout my first, and this pregnancy too. I also had good skin throughout my pregnancies and didn’t have any hair loss after my first pregnancy, so I really thank the quality of these multivitamins for that! As well as being a mom, I’m also a Certified Health Coach who specializes in prenatal nutrition. I know how important a good-quality prenatal supplement is to lower the chance of birth defects and improve both baby and mom’s overall health. After a lot of research and study, I found that Naturelo is by far, the best quality prenatal multivitamin on the market today. I know that the price of these multivitamins is slightly higher than the average but after comparing other brands, what you get in these multivitamins is worth the price difference. What drew me to Naturelo, was the fact that they source their vitamins and minerals from real fruits and vegetables. Most people don’t know that the majority of prenatals on the market use synthetic vitamins and minerals that have been made in a lab. I love that Naturelo gets everything from real fruits, sprouts and veggies, just as nature intended. Unlike fake vitamins and minerals, your body knows how to use vitamins and minerals in their natural state, and so does your baby. On a practical note, I like that the size of Naturelo capsules are smaller than the once-a-day brands. Even though it means taking three times a day, it’s easy to remember once you get into a routine. I know the capsules can also be broken open and sprinkled into juice or a smoothie. I haven’t done this but think it’s helpful to mamas experiencing morning sickness. Another important feature about Naturelo is that they use real folate, and not the synthetic version of it called folic acid. This is a big deal because there’s a big difference between folate and folic acid. It’s harder for your body to use folic acid instead of natural folate. In fact, some people can’t use folic acid at all because they lack the gene that enables them to use folic acid at all. Most other prenatals use folic acid because it’s a lot cheaper for the manufacturers to produce. Most people think they’re getting enough folate but in actual fact, they’re getting the inferior form of it called folic acid that their bodies (and their babies), can’t really use. In my opinion, it’s worth the investment to get real folate because research has shown that folate deficiency has been linked to birth defects.

Updated formula and better than ever :)
I'm updating my review from the one below because once again Naturelo proved to be a solid company. They listened to their buyers, removed the fishy DHA (you can supplement with your own DHA, Nordic Naturals has a great prenatal DHA) and upped the Choline which means I don't need to consume 300 eggs a week - hooray! This is truly the best prenatal on the market and I will continue to repurchase. Thank you Naturelo for always striving to have the best quality multivitamins and listening to your buyers when something isn't quite right! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’ve been a loyal customer of Naturelo and have been taking these prenatals for almost a year now. I’ve been really happy with this prenatal until the recent change in formula. I can appreciate them trying to source a better DHA in the new formulation - the reason I like their brand is because I can trust the quality of their ingredients, but there’s just no way someone in their first trimester will be able to keep these down with the strong smell of algae. If they aren’t able to source a good quality DHA that doesn’t smell, I rather they remove DHA completely and I will supplement outside of the prenatal. I’m also disappointed they reduced the amount of Choline as it is so difficult for me to get enough Choline with food. There’s only so many eggs I can eat! I will continue to take these until I get pregnant and hopefully they will modify the formulation by then.

This was by far in my opinion the best supplement I could find at a reasonable price
Before deciding on a multivitamin to take during pregnancy I did my research, spent hours and hours comparing ingredients and the provenience of them. This was by far in my opinion the best supplement I could find at a reasonable price. These are not cheap but i would buy this product over and over again as throughout my pregnancy I felt great, had lots of energy whilst other friends suffered from iron deficiency etc. I gave birth to a strong a healthy baby boy and i'm sure these vitamins played their role. Post pregnancy I didn't suffer from hair loss as most women do, which again, I think must have had something to do with these vitamins. I am still taking one a day as I had one bottle left and as soon as the little one is ready to take vitamins i will be looking at the range Naturelo offer. I wholeheartedly recommend these.

UPDATE: it’s changed and awful
Leaving my previous review below as I really loved this before. But updating to 1 star and honestly 0 if I could. I loved this my last pregnancy. Then I read reviews about a fishy smell and thought ah maybe a bad batch. So it’s not fishy. But it’s WEIRD. Like a weird almost vinegary acidic smell now? And every pill is coated in powder. Almost wondering if I got a bad bottle and one of the pills exploded inside it scattering powder? Like should I just not even take it? So gross. Honestly. Too bad. But I’ll be buying something else now. I did a lot of research before buying prenantal vitamins - and this one checked every box. All natural sources, easily digested, etc. I don't find they taste like anything (they smell a little I suppose, but honestly I don't even notice unless I am intentionally sniffing the bottle). Easy to swallow. Yes, you have to take them 3 times a day... but any good prenatal does not have enough of the "good stuff" if you only need one pill. Never had any issues with digestion or nausea. Just love these. Have been using them for 6 months now, and I will continue with the post natal ones after baby.
