Small Thai temple bell with embossed elephants along the base. It is solid cast bronze. The bell was made to look like an old antique that has been weathered as the original Buddhist bells. This meditation bell was hand forged in Thailand by Land of Simple Treasures partner bronze smith. It was made as a cultural rendition of a ritual bell that is used in the Buddhist temples of many Asian countries. As a religious practice, there is usually a metal bell hanging at the entrance of most Thai temples. Many people will place this oriental bell in their own sacred space to enhance their spirituality and also use for meditation. The elephant design also is believed to bring good luck, especially since the trunks are up. Review: The picture shows a lot of green patina. It arrived a solid grey color, no green patina. Yes, description says color may vary, but I thought that meant there might be some variation in the amount or shading of the patina, not that there would be none. Also, the seller’s box is very flimsy and it was shipped in a padded envelope, so the box inside was smashed. Luckily the bubble wrap kept the bell from being smashed, but certainly the packaging could be improved. I’m returning it.
