I purchased this kidde co detector for our car or when we travel. I got this brand coz it’s UL-certified, so I know it meets safety standards and has been properly tested that alone gives me confidence it’s reliable. Setup was easy since it runs on AA batteries, no wiring or complicated installation required. The LED indicators make it simple to check status at a glance, and the test/reset button works smoothly. It also says there will be low-battery alert, so it won’t quietly stop working without me knowing. The portable size is another bonus it’s easy to move if I want coverage in other places, or even take it along when traveling. A few years after buying one of these, it started chirping. Turns out that we had a furnace issue. It's quite possible that it saved my family. Outstanding quality that you can put out and forget.

We had a CO alarm go off in our house while running a generator outside but it did not have a display so we could not tell how high the concentration was. I ordered this and a couple of other CO monitors from Amazon and compared them. The 3 monitors tested were: 1) AS8700A handheld - designed for house inspection, not for continuous monitoring - range 0-1000ppm, 1ppm resolution - can display peak level since last reset - tests continuously, alerts within 5 seconds - adjustable alert level preset to 24ppm - measures ambient temperature - I paid $57 but it can now be found on Amazon for $35 - 3 year lifespan - runs on 3 AAA batteries 2) Kidde KN-COPP-B-LPM - continuous monitoring - stands upright or can be wall mounted - range 30-1000 ppm - can display peak level since last reset - tests every 15 seconds - alerts within 60 to 240 minutes for 70ppm, 10 to 50 minutes for 150ppm, 4 to 15 minutes for 400ppm - $22 - 7 year lifespan, chirps after 7.5 years to remind you to replace it - runs on 3 AA batteries for approximately 2 years 3) X-Sense CO03B - continuous monitoring - wall or ceiling mount - range 30-300ppm, good enough since you should leave the area immediately for levels over 200ppm - no peak level feature - response time is 0-3 minutes for 300ppm - $26 - 10 year lifespan, chirps after 10 years to remind you to replace it - runs on one 9v battery for 3 to 5 years For testing, I filled a garbage bag with car exhaust and placed all monitors in the bag. - The handheld alerted in 5 seconds and read over-range. It - The Kidde alerted after 20 seconds and read 823 ppm - The X-Sense did not alert during the first 30 second test and read 0ppm. I placed it back in the bag for 30 more seconds and it alerted and read it's maximum 300ppm. All 3 worked well. The handheld is best for verifying detections on the other monitors and testing while walking through the house since it is instant read and not designed for continuous monitoring. I placed the Kidde downstairs since I wanted one to place on a shelf for easy access. Since the X-Sense has the longest lifespan and longest battery life, I ceiling mounted it upstairs.

Easy to read, easy to hang on wall and portable, battery life detector let's you know when battery is low and doesn't die silently. Shows reading of ppm level before its too late.

Quality and price good

My old carbon monoxide detector finally died and this is the exact one that fits the slot in our rv camper. Quality is great compared to the 10 year old one I replaced. This is a must to have in an rv to keep you or your family safe. Its easy to use too.
