Worth spending the extra money!
When I received this boom arm I can honestly say that I was entirely happy with the product I received. It is DEFINITELY worth the extra cash for the confidence in the quality you get. Some things to note - This boom arm is heavy duty meaning you will need a heavy mic to use it - for reference - I use a Sure SM7B (not sure the exact weight) and the arm works perfectly. You get good length when fully extended, and there is a support for your wire at the top of the mic arm to keep your workspace neat. There are 3 Velcro straps included, along with everything needed for assembly, BOTH for desk mounted and permanent installation (drilled into desk). The product feels secure in every way, and does not move an inch when fixed to the desk using the desk mount. Safe to say this thing will not move if you don’t want it to. The material is top quality and even the plastic parts - desk mount and knobs etc. - feel extremely sturdy. I have used cheaper stands before this one and they simply don’t compare. Even mid range price always seem to falter. If you want something that will last and deliver in every aspect, I recommend this product. My thoughts generally are, if you can afford to spend a little extra on this equipment, you will notice a big difference. It is definitely worth investing in these aspects of your setup, and from what I can tell, this boom arm will last for many many years. 10/10 worth it.

Great Robust, Professional Arm
MUCH better quality and bigger than my clanky (albeit £15) Neewer arm. The Neewer held up my SM7B but it just felt completely brittle. The arm was clearly cheap though functional. I was concerned about the Rode arm at first because I couldn't find any pictures of the actual clamp. I just assumed that the cone shaped thing was screwed into the desk and so I didn't consider this arm because of that. I took the gamble and sure enough that clamp is there and the desk option is a quality metal thing to insert into a drilled desk. The joins of this arm are very sturdy and they hold my heavy SM7B in place. I've heard only a few squeaks out of it. I've heard that it's a bad idea to oil, since might no longer take the weight of a heavy mic due to lack of friction. It swings in the clamp stand (the cone) freely and can rotate quite fast. I swung the mic into play to do some quick vocals and it nearly swung and hit my screen. My fault however. The quality of the straights on this arm are clearly thicker than my previous arm (which bent) and the arm is heavy overall. Whilst fitting the SM7B mic, I was concerned that there wasn't enough clearance to plug the XLR into the SM7B holder due to the chrome tighteners. I managed to get it in, but it's at a slight angle and putting lateral pressure on it. The arm has an option to put the actual wire inside the frame, but I've no idea how to do this unless I were to be electrically savvy and good with a soldering iron to take apart an XLR cable! Overall, really pleased. My 'studio' is maturing as I age. I'm proud of my mic and this arm is the icing on the cake.

The best of its kind
Does exactly the job I hoped it would do. I didn't bother to look at cheaper alternatives. You see this exact model in a lot of professional YouTuber studios. Easy to fit (i chose the through desk option, though you can just use the provided desk clamp). I didn't even need to adjust the tension for it to work with my SM7B. Well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

Reliable and Flexible Microphone Boom Arm
I've been using the RØDE PSA1 Professional Studio Arm for my home recording setup, and it has significantly improved the ergonomics and convenience of my workspace. This boom arm allows for easy and precise placement of my microphone, making it ideal for podcasting, streaming, and recording applications. Design and Build Quality: The PSA1 features a durable design with a parallelogram spring system that keeps the microphone perfectly stable, even when adjusting the arm's height. The arm offers a full 360-degree rotation and a horizontal reach of up to 820 mm, providing ample flexibility to position the microphone exactly where needed. Ease of Use: Installation was straightforward, and the arm comes with both desk clamp and desk insert mounting options, accommodating various desk configurations. The movement is smooth and noise-free, allowing for on-the-fly adjustments during recording sessions without introducing unwanted sounds. Compatibility: The PSA1 is compatible with a wide range of microphones, including the RØDE NT1-A and Podcaster, supporting microphones weighing between 700 g (1.5 lbs) and 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs) when combined with shock mount. Pros: Sturdy and durable construction Smooth and silent operation Flexible positioning with full 360-degree rotation Easy installation with multiple mounting options Cons: The included cable management straps could be more robust Overall, the RØDE PSA1 Professional Studio Arm has been a valuable addition to my recording setup, offering reliable performance and enhancing the overall workflow. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality boom arm for their microphone.

Solid, smooth, and well built with a few minor quirks
The Rode PSA1+ is a very well-built microphone arm and a clear upgrade over cheaper alternatives. The movement is smooth and quiet, it holds position reliably, and once set up properly it feels solid and professional in daily use. Cable management is well thought out, with the integrated channels keeping everything tidy and reducing desk clutter. It also supports a wide range of microphones without sagging, which inspires confidence if you’re using heavier kit. That said, it’s not completely perfect. Adjusting tension can be a bit fiddly at first, and getting it dialled in exactly how you want takes some patience. The arm is also fairly substantial, so it may feel a little overkill for very lightweight microphones or smaller desks. Overall, it’s a high-quality boom arm that does exactly what it’s meant to do and does it quietly. A strong 4-star product excellent build and performance, just held back slightly by setup quirks rather than day-to-day use.

The last desk clamp mic stand you will need!
I got this stand to replace the more budget oriented Neewer desk clamp stand and it is a night and day difference. Although the Neewer stand did the job, after switching from the Elgato Wave:1 to the Shure MV7, it was visibly noticeable that the Neewer stand was struggling to hold the weight of the Shure mic. I did notice that the connector point from the actual desk clamp to the mic arm had the common issue of basically bending to a 90 degree angle due to the weight of a microphone. My first initial thoughts of opening this stand was that you can tell it was extremely high quality, and the fact it is spring loaded is just phenomenal, as it allows for much more manoeuvrability and better positioning overall! The one thing I will say, is that I thought I had a faulty unit to begin with, as where-ever I would position the mic, the spring loaded tension would kick in and the mic arm would raise itself up. I then found a video online explaining that if this happens, all you need to do is tighten the flathead screws in both the joints, one being at the "elbow" of the stand (not the screw down near the actual base itself, but the one above that) and the screw directly behind the mount for the mic. Upon tightening these both to the right amount after attaching my MV7, I have had absolutely zero issues, and the mic arm is perfectly weighted to stay in place, and has a perfect length to pull towards my mouth even if I am sitting back and relaxing in my chair! I was a bit sceptical at first to spend the money on it, but I'm completely certain that I won't have to buy another mic arm anytime soon, so it is a completely worthwhile investment :)

Quality arm
This is a great quality mic arm for the price. It supports my Samson CO1U - USB Studio Condenser Microphone with Samson SP01 Shock Mount very well, with no drooping or instability. It comes with a table clamp, as well as a bushing to install into the desk with an appropriately sized hole. I've used neither, as I've 3D printed an adapter for a monitor arm pole so the arm goes over the top of my monitor - but the fixings feel substantial. It comes with three RODE branded velcro ties, to attach the mic cable to the arm (presumably). They do an OK job at this, but you'll probably want more than three of these to do a really good job. The part where the mic holder attaches to the arm is great - the screw thread has a handle to rotate it to screw in the holder. This is something even the more expensive arms often fail to address, meaning you have to spin the mic holder around to attach it (which is pretty annoying when it's an enormous shock mount). The clamp which holds the threaded section at the correct angle is very well made too, all chrome, two screws on each side to hold that at the correct angle. Something which cheaper arms are very bad at, which eventually leads to the mic falling out of the holder. Cheaper arms are a false economy - just get one of these if you're looking for an entry-level desk mounted mic arm for podcasting, streaming, or even radio studios. The only better arm that are worth considering are the Yellotec M!ka mic arms, not available on Amazon, and are considerably more expensive.

This is amazing value - PRO Setup!
I have been a RODE customer for years. And until now have used mic stands. But setting up my new studio space I needed to maximize floor space and stands just clutter up the place. I was looking for a boom arm for a while. And once I found the great reviews on the PSA1+ I was convinced. Honestly from the packaging which is first class, very protective and well thought out. To the effortless setup, which includes two attachment choices for you. 1 method is the clamp, which is a well thought out design, it has a broad and importantly FLAT connector between the two desk top piece and the under desk screw clamp. The broad flat connector means it can brace against the flat edge of your surface and stop any rotation or twisting of the mount. Method 2 a very cool looking 'in desk' solution. It requires drilling if you want to use this. But it is a very nice light gold anodized metal with cable management holes. I would have used this if I had the space on my studio desk. But I wanted it mounted right at the back of my top shelf as you see in my photos. So I can tuck the mic out of the way. I thought it might be too close to the edge to drill there. Once attached it is ROCK SOLID. With the microphone attached (my RODE mic) the arm is setup with a nice counterweight to it. Mic and arm moves as one piece and stays exactly where I put it. I did not have to adjust the tension at all, it worked right out of the box. Of course that might be more luck than anything else. But if needed both segments of the arm can have their tension increased or decreased. I looked at much cheaper alternatives and some really expensive ones above this price point. But this is the arm to choose. You won't be dissapointed.
