From the Publisher Review: Super Book - At the very beginning I would like to make one thing clear, that this book is not a hagiography of Subhas Bose but a well researched serious Biography. The language is lucid and even those who aren't that strong in English language won't find it difficult to read the book. This book authoritatively covers the transformation of Subhas Chandra Bose to Netaji. The author has done extensive research work, more than 80% of the work is based on primary sources. Intelligence reports, archival documents, memoirs of important persons are frequently used , a lot of new information on Netaji has been incorporated in the book. The author has used interesting cartoons of that time published in newspapers to depict the situation. The author has successfully brought out the natural human traits of Netaji. This book offers an in-depth analysis of Netaji's views on Nationalism, Spirituality, Socialism, Administration, Economics, History, Art , Culture,Education, Caste, Women empowerment, Municipal planning and governance. His close contacts with the revolutionary groups from his college days till the very last moment before his disappearance, his ideas on Military and International affairs , his relation with Axis Powers and how his vision was far ahead of his time. And how his ideas were different from Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Savarkar, Communists etc. His views on Partition, Cow Slaughter etc, his efforts to bridge gap between different sects of Hindu Community, his views and relations with Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League. The author has either intentionally left out or briefly touched upon a lot of well known events of Netaji's life and in palce brought out many unknown incidents from Netaji's life. His idea of propagating Hinduism in foreign countries to make India a world power. This book convincingly helps us to make out how Netaji's leftism or Socialism was very different from other Socialist. After reading this book you will realise that the only terms which can represent Netaji's feelings is undiluted, genuine Nationalism. Just how people go to a market and purchase different commodities of different brand according to his need and capacity, Netaji was also doing the same for India. He was not following any ideology blindly he was trying to study and understand was is suitable for India's overall growth, he picked out important features from Communism, Socialism, Fascism and also from India's Spritual and Cultural heritage. Chapters like Pheonix Rises, Quagmire of Isims , Covert Operative and INA and Independence needs a special mention. This book also gives us an idea how Netaji and INA played a crucial role in accelerating the exit of British Rule from India. Overall the book is worth purchasing. I highly recommend this book. Review: A Book that has done Justice to it's Title - I have completed reading the book yesterday, and now I think I am in a position to write about this brilliant and diligently researched book. In the beginning I would like to congratulate the author Shri Chandrachur Ghose for doing absolute justice to the name of the book. This book actually deals with the untold events of the exemplary life of Netaji Shri Subhas Chandra Bose. The author has beautifully described all the events of Netaji's life from his childhood days at Cuttack, all the way upto the alleged plane crash event. Additionally, the author has also delved deep into the well known events of Netaji's life with special emphasis on what was happening behind the curtains during those. Apart from narrating the story of Netaji's life, the book also contains commentary about Netaji's perspectives about various political and social events which were happening during his lifetime. Moreover, the author has also painstakingly compiled the opinions of Netaji's contemporaries (e.g., Nehru, Gandhi, Patel, Jay Prakas Narayan etc.) about Netaji and his actions during various "historical crossroad moments" of Netaji's life and Indian Freedom struggle. Personally, I liked the chapter named "Quagmire of Isms" which is an extremely well compiled narration of how Netaji has been portrayed by various Politicians, Journalists and Historians both in India and abroad both during his active political life upto 1945 and after his disappearance, all the way up to recent times. This chapter discusses at length about how various people have tried to categorise Netaji's political ideology into various "isms" such as Communism, Fascism, Socialism etc. to fit their own political narratives. And finally, in the last chapter, the book beautifully sets up the premise for the book Conundrum (which is the next book I intend to read after I have finished writing this review). There's so much more I want to write but it will be like giving spoilers to the future readers, so I won't. In the end, I would like to congratulate the author and his associates (team Mission Netaji) for this exceptional and brilliantly written book. I hope that I get to read many such engrossing books from Mr. Ghose. I wish him all the success for his future books as well as his endeavors for bringing out the truth regarding the Netaji Death Mystery as well. And to anyone who is thinking of buying this book and thus reading this review, I would like to state that I highly recommend it. Please buy this book as it is worth every single penny spent.

The Hero who survived with passing generations
Chandrachur Ghose’s Bose: The Untold Story of an Inconvenient Nationalist is a meticulously researched biography that delves deep into the life, political ideology, and controversies surrounding Subhas Chandra Bose. Unlike traditional narratives that focus solely on his heroism, this book presents a nuanced and sometimes uncomfortable portrayal of Bose’s journey, exploring his conflicts, decisions, and vision for India. Ghose takes readers beyond the well-known accounts of Bose’s leadership in the Indian National Army (INA) and his differences with Mahatma Gandhi. The book explores his early influences, ideological shifts, and diplomatic struggles, especially his association with Axis powers during World War II. ✔ Beyond the Mainstream Narrative – The book challenges popular perceptions, portraying Bose as a leader whose radical vision did not align with the dominant narratives of the Indian freedom struggle. ✔ His Differences with Gandhi & Nehru – Bose’s strained relationships with Gandhi and Nehru, particularly over issues of armed struggle versus non-violence, are examined in depth. ✔ Diplomatic Efforts & Military Strategy – Ghose highlights Bose’s negotiations with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, explaining his rationale for seeking their support despite their global reputation. ✔ The Mystery of His Death – The book also touches upon the enduring controversy surrounding Bose’s alleged plane crash in 1945, questioning official accounts and exploring alternative theories. This book is significant because it challenges the sanitized versions of history and forces readers to rethink Bose’s legacy. It presents him not just as a patriot but as a pragmatic, sometimes ruthless strategist who believed in complete independence through armed revolution rather than gradual constitutional reforms. Chandrachur Ghose’s writing is deeply analytical, backed by extensive archival research, declassified documents, and personal correspondences of Bose. His narrative is engaging, though at times dense with historical details, making it more suited for readers who appreciate in-depth political analysis. Some critics argue that the book leans toward a revisionist approach, at times attempting to justify Bose’s controversial alliances. Additionally, while it provides extensive details on his ideology and struggles, a deeper exploration of his impact on post-independence India would have made it even more comprehensive. A must-read for history enthusiasts, scholars, and anyone seeking a deeper, more unfiltered look at Subhas Chandra Bose. Bose: The Untold Story of an Inconvenient Nationalist presents a bold, well-researched perspective that challenges conventional wisdom and adds new dimensions to Bose’s legacy. It is an essential book for understanding the complexities of India’s struggle for independence and the leader who dared to take a different path.

A comprehensive biography of Netaji, packed with many hitherto unknown (or, less-known) facts
I have received this book last evening and hence not in a position to give a detailed review. I am afraid, it may take some time to read this bulky book (714 pages), as I am a slow reader. But, I can always give my immediate reaction. It is a welcome addition to Netaji literature. With excellent get-up (thanks to the reputed Publisher), this looks like a candy to my eyes. Author's lucid narrative (in user-friendly English) makes the reading a joyful experience. Deliberately (or should I say, mercilessly?) he has minimized (or, avoided) the well-known facts and compensated it with lesser-known (or, unknown) facts about Netaji. In order to relive the history, he has packed to book with contemporary newspaper reports. Another interesting feature (which is usually ignored by academic biographers) is that he has included lot of cartoons which were published in the newspapers of that period. I am specially excited to see the cartoons of the legendary Cartoonist Kafi Khan or PICIEL (whose real name is Prafullachandra Lahiri). A Professor of History, Prafullachandra was a deep admirer of Subhas Chandra and he has expressed it amply with his eloquent brush. I must thank the Author to remind our present generation about this great Cartoonist of yester years. I would request all the followers of Netaji to read this book. Jay Hind.

Extraordinary, powerful, sharp and vivid narration of the man who gave India freedom.
Subhas Chandra Bose's life is deep and spread across in multiple distinct layers, each connected with one another. Usually he is widely portrayed as the only military leader who fought British might on the battlefield. But beyond that there lies a giant of a man, with a character deep as an ocean. A silent spiritual seeker, a devout Hindu, a visionary administrator and a man who went to all extremes and sacrifice to bring India her freedom. Author Chandrachur Ghose having his decades of erudition on the life and times of Netaji, wrote this brilliant book on Netaji's life which would surely in due course of time be the bible of Netaji's life. This is not a casual book on his life's timeline. This book dives deep into the gigantic personality and uncovers the vast yet lesser know territories of Netaji's life and works.
