Poor quality, doesn't last, clear ice cubes
The white polystyrene case and black insert both tore within 6 months. The quality of the product does not justify the high price as the polystyrene case looks home made. The ice cubes pop out of the black case whilst in the freezer and the polystyrene case sticks to the freezer. Its impossible to get the ice cubes out of the black case out without running under luke warm water. The ice cubes are clear but not worth the hassle.

Beautiful crystal clear cubes
It takes a bit of preparation to get it right. I use a good quality bottled water, heated up to almost boiling point on the hob (not the kettle due to limescale and impurities.) You do end up with one ice cube larger than the others, but the others end up beautifully square and crystal clear. The only pain is thawing the tray underneath so you can separate it from the black tray and release the ice cubes. I usually stab the cuboid of ice underneath - just under the black tray to release it, being careful not to pierce the black tray. Then, once separated from the cuboid of ice, the cubes should pop out fairly easily. I then transfer the cubes to a freezer bag and put them in the freezer. The cubes melt much more slowly than regular ones due to their size, so your drink doesn't get diluted, and your tonic stays fizzy! I enjoy one ice cube in a whisky glass with a nice gin and tonic and a glass of lemon!

Works!
Crystal clear ice cubes. Sure, you can build this setup at home but who has the time.A few tips- do not force the cubes out, let everything out for a few minutes to loosen up.- some cubes will double in size, its normal, you just get a massive cube with each batch- the insulating material must not be manhandled, its not indestructible- dont store cubes for a ling time, they look best when fresh.Overall, it's a great little gadget that is sure to impress guests.

I have purchased three different ones, and this is the best.
The most basic of all the ones I have purchased, but there are things I like about it.1. The ice was every bit as clear or clearer than from the heavier, more “engineered” ones I have. I use room temp distilled water and a large stand-up freezer, not a refrigerator freezer. They all take experimentation.2. It makes 10 cubes! That’s the best part.3. Getting the cubes out was just as difficult with this one as with my other clear ice cube makers. You probably need to be more careful doing it.

Works as advertised, but...
The lure of crystal clear ice cubes brought me to this purchase. Does a glass of bourbon on the rocks need a crystal clear ice cube? Nope. Is it fun? Sure. What's no fun is the amount of space required (my partner's viewpoint) and the reality that while the cubes do come out looking like a piece of clear glass, they don't stay clear if left in the freezer for more than a week or two. After that, they look like large, cloudy ice cubes that could have been made in a silicone ice cube tray that sells for $6.If making lovely clear ice cubes for special occasions is what you're after, this set-up will do that for you, otherwise, just buy an el cheapo silicone tray and enjoy the libations.
