Great Guitar All Around!
Such an awesome guitar. Good for a beginner, or a more advanced player that knows what they are looking for. Stays in tune very well, and I was able to adjust the truss rod and get a very smooth and comfortable string position. Amazing guitar for the price! Would recommend to a friend.

Needs work
Out of the box, of course it needed to be tuned slight amount of fret buzz on a couple of the strings, the A and D strings. Action was a little high after all the adjustments were made not a bad sounding guitar. They did not file down the edge of the fritz so they’re sharp all the way down the neck on both sides top and bottom volume switch works great for all three pick ups only one town works for the neck pick up. The other tone knob doesn’t do anything. If you purchase one through Amazon and pay the extra for shipping unless you have prime do not let it be shipped by guitar refractory because Amazon will say you should get the guitar by a certain date and if it shipped through guitar factory, they ship it FedEx and you’ll get it about a week after what Amazon promises

With a little easy DIY luthering, this can be one of your favorite axes
Kramer VT211s (ruby red) I wanted to do an impartial and lengthy write-up on this inexpensive guitar, and I plan to add a video or two so that you can hear the tone produced by a mahogany body combined with a maple neck. But first, some Pros and Cons: PROS: - The mahogany body and maple neck design gives amazing sound, comparable to much more expensive guitars. The sound can be mellow or twangy. - The stock pickups are far above their price point. I might not ever change mine. - The neck on mine was straight, despite the camera perspective error that some might see in the picture of the neck. - NO fret buzz at all, even though the action was set low from the factory. - Very smooth maple neck. You can slide up and down the neck with ease, whether you're playing rhythm or lead. -The neck is a D shape that favors people with smaller hands. CONS: - The frets had sharp edges. THIS IS EASY TO FIX - Overall, cheap hardware. Common at this price point. My output jack was tight, now it’s falling apart. - Generic-feeling strings. Felt like a set of “10’s”, but I didn’t mic them. - I didn’t like the chrome knobs, so I changed them. But that’s a matter of preference. PROS (expanded) Pickups: I won't be changing the pickups for a while, despite my love for Lace Sensor pickups (sold here on Amazon, BTW). The stock pickups are excellent. My son is a Gibson fan, and he says they sound just like “Gibbies”. I’ll try to post some videos here, but there are plenty of them online. Neck Shape: As I said above, the neck is a D shape that favors people with smaller hands. I like that since I have small hands, a least for a guitar player (note that I didn't say "guitarist, LOL). My favorite axe is my '84 Focus 3000 - its neck works well for me too. The neck has a smooth finish, and is easy to navigate. CONS: Fret Edges: Some claim to have received a Focus VT211s with perfectly smooth fret edges, but mine were sharp. Had we not hooked this up to some good amps and compared the sound to some of our other guitars, I might have sent it back. However, when I went to the local music store to buy a couple sets of "9.5's", I ran my hand down the edges of the necks on some $400+ guitars and they had sharp edges also. Amazon sells many inexpensive tools to fix this. I used the "Lengthen Guitar Fret Leveler Beam 20cm Guitar Sanding Leveling Bar with Replacement Sandpaper for Electric Folk Guitar Bass". In 15 minutes, my fret edges were super smooth. There are thousands of online tutorials on how to do this. I protected the neck and painted areas with that blue masking tape that’s designed not to damage the finish and it worked perfectly. The tools will cost less than twenty bucks. Hardware: It’s cheap, but it mostly works. However, my input jack is a mess, and the guitar is only a couple weeks old, so I had to drop my overall rating to 4 stars. Electronics lube like Deoxit Gold didn’t help. I’m going to have to replace it with something good. Some people might not be able to do that. The pickups have no adjustable pole pieces, but they just work. It’s possible that the woods selected for the VT211S augment the pickups, and maybe some good pickups would sound a lot better, but the guitar sounds so good “out of the box” that I don’t plan to mess with them right now. With my dual 12" tube amp, this little axe can really growl if I want it to. My input jack is tight, and the plug started sticking in it, so I bought some Switchcraft jacks and replaced it. Pure Tone also makes great jacks. NOTE: The cheap OEM jack is smaller than standard, so you will have to ream out the hole in the jack Ferrule/plate to make it fit (see pictures). I can't believe Gibson/Kramer didn't spend a buck here for a good quality jack. The strings are OK, but I like Ernie Ball Primo Slinky’s (9.5’s). They really work well with this guitar, and Strats in general. Other Notes: With a little work, this would be the perfect guitar for a new guitarist or even an intermediate player, or for a party environment like the beach or a frat house. The paint finish appears to be durable, but it took me a couple days to get used to the pastel finish. To me, ruby red is dark red. The pastel finish darkens in low light, which is good. This uses Strat-spline knobs, so changing them is a cinch. Again, Amazon has a big selection. I used the “3Pcs Guitar Knob Plastic Top Hat Guitar One Volume, Two Tone Control Knobs Amplifier Knobs for Strat Guitar, White” set sold here on Amazon, and I think they really achieve that Strat look.

Unplayable
I loved my old Kramer EVH Special and figured it was a safe brand to buy for my son to learn guitar. When I opened it and saw what I'd been dealt, I didn't even bother to try to play it. The frets are too wide for the neck - they actually stick out of each side of the neck. Unplayable.

Good Looks / Plays Great
I bought mine 2nd hand but I like this guitar. Is it the best guitar out there no. Off the bat it’s very light and the tuners suck and the volume knobs are to big but besides that I think it sounds very good and feels good for the price point. If you are a guitar snob look elsewhere, but if you want a fun good sounding jam guitar this is it.
