Good brand, works great, super customer service! M
So I got a manual log splitter. It take an awful amount of movement to operate it. Took it back. I knew it had to be electric. I know and use BiltHard products so the reviews were understandable. I took the plunge and got it. We've had several trees cut down in the last year and use them in the fireplace. They catch and burn so much better when split. The thing that gets me is the ease to use it. Log on. Push the button. Pull the handle. It splits easy. No physical effort whatsoever. I would have gotten it sooner had I known how easy it is. This is a nice one. And if you have any issues with shipping or how to use it, their customer service can't be beat. They're very helpful and very communicative. Only issue, it's very heavy. But it has to be, and they all are. Super sturdy. Not extra huge - decent size for the job. I suggest a cover to protect it.

Handy splitter for the front porch.
Assembly was simple, just attach the wheels and handle. The instructions about bleeding the hydraulics for air were confusing and poorly written, it was not clear whether to just initially bleed the air or to leave the bleed screw open all the time except when transporting. I tested it with a couple 9” diameter birch logs and they split easily. The travel time isn’t fast, but few log splitters are speedy with retracting the ram. The plastic wheels are not robust, but they could be swapped for bigger ones if needed. No fumes or noise or carburetor to adjust. I still have the big gas splitter for larger logs, but this is handy for things a bit too wide for the stove door. One week later: Still working well, though it tripped a breaker in the basement once for unknown reasons. One complaint: the devise on the bar that is supposed to keep it from retracting all the way when splitting shorter logs, to shorten cycle time, does not hold very well. When I set it to a specific length and tighten the knob, it does not hold and doesn’t do its job. I’m trying to think of some way to make it grip better or tighten more strongly. A good concept but it doesn’t work as well as it should. I’m also regretting not getting the version with the stand, a bit too much bending low, I will have to improvise and modify.

Super machine!!
My husband has wanted an easy option to split wood. As we’ve gotten older, the larger rental machines were too much for us to manage then along comes this sweet 6.5 ton electric Bilt Hard! Wow! We had a cord of wood delivered, well it was the 3rd cord for cold Ohio Winter of 2026! The first two cords didn’t need more splitting but the 3rd cord had beast sized large chunks! For several weeks we were old school using axe but that fun soon became a real pain! Literally! We unpacked the Bilt Hard, attached the wheels and handles and were using it within 30 minutes! We lifted it up onto our patio table top which saved us from bending over too! It works very quick, sharp, effortlessly! It’s the most fun, useful “toy” we’ve purchased in our 47 year marriage!

Heavy and awkward but sufficient
The machine is a beast works nicely. My only complaint is it’s very heavy and awkward to move. The narrow wheel base causes it to tip while u transport. If you’re in a hurry to split wood this is not the machine. Great for those logs with knots, splits them like butter.

Best first log splitter ever owned, already made my money back 5X
I bought this splitter for a tree i cut down on front yard. I reviewed alot of others, but this one was the best for its price and power it has, I can tell you, i been trying to beat this log splitter to the ground and so far, after 3 cords of wood i have split, this is still going like a beast. I have maybe sharpened the wedge on it, once .Would help more if i sharpened it more I have never filled liquid in . I have kept this outside in rain, and dirt all over it. Still, it keeps on going.. I have split tree cuts close to 30 inches in diameter, some even more larger. I had dug a trench for the log splitter to kind of sit in, ground level so i can roll the logs over it to split. Check out the photos. you can see the size of logs to the wheelbarrow, give you an idea on diameter. Once i split it, you can see other end on almost split through.(Photos are out of order, but it's the 3rd and 7th photo that it cracked, the 6th photo is the log split in half). Once i gave it a wiggle, it broke in half. After that, you just keep splitting those pieces up. Tip, i put wood on the ground for me to roll the log up, onto the splitter. If i have to every buy another log splitter again, it will be this one... For the price of it and what it can do..... WOW. So amazed. Showing you, that this log splitter can and will split larger logs, than what is written on requirements. Really, the only bad things i had was that the front metal supports are thin, and the bolts get lose fast. Keep an eye on those, maybe put Loctite on those bolts. Last, is the knob where you loosen up for the Fluid to release, that knob is now broken half off, because a log hit it, as it was splitting, But, its okay now, it was just the plastic ,that got broken, i can still twist it close or open by hand..

THIS THING IS AN ANIMAL
Look you don’t need to read any other review other than this one. If you’re on the fence about this little dude don’t be just go for it. This little thing explodes some dry knotty oak I have in my pile and it does it with ease. I’ve had it split at least a 20 inch round log and it ate it for breakfast. There is nothing better than splitting wood inside either. No more hitting your concrete floor with your hatchet. It also has a stopper so you can increase productivity by not having to have the ram go all the way back. You can stop it for the size log your splitting. The reason I bought this was a buddy had one that he beat the Jesus out of left it out side it’s whole life and it’s still kicking. It’s quality built, I have never had leaks. The blue looks cool too. It fits some big dam. Logs. I love the thing. I would wager this thing stands next to a lower end gasoline engine model with ease. JUST BUY IT. Our family has heated our house with wood my whole life so I know wood and I know splitters. And this thing is a splitter. Very much happy with it.
