So far, so good
The block I work on is overrun with pigeons. It's like a home base for them where they rest and try to hump each other when they aren't out being disgusting in other parts of the city. They will just waltz through the open bay door pecking around at nothing, or fly in, looking to roost. The two other businesses nearby allow them to do that they want, and every corner of those places is littered with feathers, crap, and their air is filled with constant cooing. Well, that's not happening here. I have a zero-tolerance policy for pigeons entering our workplace. Here, they are greeted with hostility. Generation after generation gets chased out of here 100% of the time. And to a certain degree, I think my efforts have worked; that they've been conditioned to know that this is the door that they shouldn't pass under. There isn't much traffic anymore in terms of pigeons invading my space. I'm very happy with the progress we've made. Just stay outside, is all I asked of them. Well, they stay outside for the most part, and I'm happy about that. But they still give me problems. How? Well, our cars are outside, and our cars get pelted with bird droppings all day long. Oh, you just got a car wash this weekend? Too bad. Oh, it rained last night, and washed away a lot of the crap that they put on your car yesterday? Here's more to replace yesterday's strafing. A few weeks ago, I thought, I have had enough of this. Enter Homescape Creations holographic owls, lol. There is a residential house across the street, and they have the 3-D plastic owls, like 4 of them, on every corner of the house, to ward off pigeons. Those owls seem to work for them, but I wasn't about to spend all that money AND install the things for something that only might work, so I figured I'd try something cheaper first. The Homescape Owls were inexpensive, and had pretty good reviews. So I got a pack of two. Well, from the first second that first owl appeared from over the parapet, those pigeons were gone from in front of our shop. There hasn't been a new load of crap on my car since that morning. No one else's car, either. No pigeons walking in the open bay door. No flapping. No landing on the overhead lights. No incessant cooing. And no having to yell at pigeons, no throwing stuff at them, no chasing them off with a length of pipe. It's been really liberating. I can now enjoy a beautiful morning, and work with the door open, because I haven't had to chase pigeons away the whole time. The pigeons still run this block, don't get me wrong, but they are not a problem in front of THIS workplace at this time. It's not even been a week. I don't know if the owls will weather the elements very well, or if the stupid pigeons will get used to them and start acting like they own the place again. But so far, the owls work perfectly and I am very happy.

I'd suggest ignoring the negative reviews. This product really does work.
So I will add my name to the list of those who are very pleased with this owl as a bird deterrent. I had misgivings about ordering given the complaints from several about de-lamination and ineffectiveness. My experience after about a month and a half has been the diametric opposite. First off, re quality of construction and durability: I simply hung mine from a small finishing nail hammered into the frame of my backyard's elevated deck and it's been great. Not even the slightest sign of de-lamination, and this owl has been through the gauntlet: a combination of days on end of baking 90+ degree heat and sunshine, as well as Hurricane Isaias. In all of this, it has come through completely unscathed. And that's not counting the fact that the package comes with a small brigade of owls to do battle (four of them actually). As for its effectiveness, it's simple: no more birds. The combination of the product's reflected light, constant movement in the slightest breeze, and ringing bells has worked like a charm. It even fools me and my family on occasion: the ringing bells sound almost exactly like those that adorn a dog's collar, and I have occasionally caught myself looking around to see if there's a dog loose on the property. So all in all, to those who might be scared off by the relatively few negative reviews: don't be. Makes me wonder if those individuals were simply shipped a bad batch.

It not only got rid of my woodpeckers, but unfortunately other birds too.
Of all the items sold to get rid of woodpeckers, this was one of the least expensive. I thought I would give it a try. First, it comes with a short lightweight string to attach it to something. Not sure how durable that will be outside. I connected it to a bird house pole, and it worked immediately, but it not only scared off the woodpeckers, but all the other birds that fed off my feeder in the back. I repositioned them in the front and left the back clear, and that’s helped, but the birds aren’t back in full force. At least the woodpeckers are still gone.

Didn’t work for my menacing mourning doves
So I have a large variety of beautiful birds outside my patio. I noticed a pair of mourning doves roosting on a hanger area and thought they were cute. Then they had babies! How precious. The babies grew and started pooping everywhere. I let it slide because spring and it’s sweet ect. Then they flew away and I cleaned up their mess. Done, right?! No! The same pair came back and did it all again. I didn’t realize they essentially do this all the warm months. Just pooping babies out left and right! I couldn’t go outside due to poop bomb fear! So I started looking up methods to keep them away without scaring off the other birds. I found this shiny eye sore and it scared the heck out of my cat, so I thought it would work. I didn’t hang it at first because I didn’t want to scare off other birds, just these mourning doves. So I put it exactly where the doves have been building their nest. It worked for about 2-3 days. Then I found the dove trying to build a nest on the other side so I slapped them all out there. Some hanging some perched ect. The doves have seen through my ploy 😐. It was worth a shot! But didn’t work.

Good price and they do work maybe the work better ...
With that this too scared of the grackles, a small Onery bird, they have been stealing all of our catfood off the porch . We even have bird food up there for them to eat ! Well to be honest with you it works really well ....AT FIRST. In the darn thing figured out and the right back to where we started period. And the instructions say it does help if you move them around, but there are only so many places you can move them to & still scare birds away from the affected area. Good price and they do work maybe the work better for you overall I still use with them I think it's more the crackle problem than anything else .

Love the owls!
Update: ive had these well over a year and the birds come nowhere near our windows and the air conditioners in the windows. I ended up putting 2 under each window and tied them together at the end (which makes almost a U shape) thiught the birds would end up landing on them but nope. They still swing enoughbin the wind but now theybdont slam into my windows furing in a storm. Plus wvn tho they are under awnings they still get hit by all the outside elements and thry havent gotten detroyed ans have held up very well! Love these things!!!! They are pretty sturdy and the bells are actually pretty loud. The suction cups were total crap so I attached them to my window awning with pipe cleaners. The owls are very reflective and when even a breeze comes thru they are swinging and keeping the birds away!! I cant say how they hold up in the rain cuz it has beem very dry here but it has been windy and the owls are just flying every where!! Lol. The silver spirals are pretty when they spin but other than that they are pretty much useless. They are cheap dollar store plastic ( the kind u pay a dollar for a pack of like 5). So u really are inly actually using the owls. I recommend hanging the owls so the freelly fly and not stuck up against the wall/window. Pretty good buy over all...no more bird poop on my window!!

Great at safely scaring away unwanted critters/birds
Hang to scare off nesting birds or by your garden, it scares away rabbit, squirrels, and birds without harming them. They reflect the sun and create movement. Lightweight easy to store easy to assemble and they withstand cold and heat. They have bells on them so they also make noise noise and movement scares away pests.

Right idea, wrong packaging and quality
These looked great for our occasionally vacated US home (on a temporary overseas assignment) to keep the birds away from roosting under our patio or flying into the plate glass window. Unfortunately, two problems. First, the spiral reflector was broken off at the top - so no way to hang it (it is a very cheap, thin, lightweight plastic). Second, the owl's "eyes" are a silicon-type material that stuck the two owls together. Even carefully pealing them apart the eyes come off the owl (I re-glued them on - shouldn't have to do that!). Unfortunately, we were leaving the home and I needed to get something up. No opportunity to return them before our departure. The concept is good, but the packaging concept is really poor, and overall quality is not high. Really like the idea, but they've cheapened it such that it's more headache than value.
