Revell 05100 U-Boat Typ VIIC/41 Plastic Model Kit

Great GREAT model, it’s a long, long way to Tipperary.

I purchased this to work on to relax. After scouring U-Boat.net I found out more information about the Type VIIC U Boat. I decided to build U-1004 because she sank tonnage and survived the war. The decals seemed to be too small in scale in relation to the boat, you can barely make them out on the sail. The hull fit together perfectly and the details were sharp and crisp. There were no real issues in assembling the model, but beware some of the parts for the guns are very small and can easily be lost if you should drop one.

Nice kit but many tiny parts. 144 scale is too small so if you can afford it, get the 1:72 scale. Also assembly instructions can be a challenge. If you take care and have patience you can have a great model.

If you are looking for a superbly detailed U-boot model to grace your bookshelf or office without paying for an enormous 1/72 version that takes up too much space, this is the kit. Detailed decking, hull plating and conning tower and a stand you can assemble to display your model. Search online for Eduard 1/144 for Revell Type VII and there is a highly detailed photo-etched kit you can buy for about $20 to add detail such as vent covers, conning tower grab rails, bow/stern plates and gun details. This famous submarine version is a must for WW II ship model enthusiasts!!

A very detailed model,great parts accuracy and fit.the conning tower was the most difficult--very small parts and vauge directions but experienced modelers expect these challenges so I had no problem.For some reason the fact it was made in Europe made it seem like a more authentic model --I get tired of Chinese medium quality kits.A U-boat was a very neutral appearing ship so it may not stand out as a finished model but that is the authentic look so enhance the detail to bring depth to it.Improvise the rigging and blacken in the vents--I used a black water color wash that when the excess is wiped off with a damp cloth leaves perfect black vents.A fun project.

I was happy to see the kit show up. It took longer than I had expected. The model is made by a quality manufacturer and I expect that. I wasn’t expecting it to be as small as it was but it’s difficult due to not having over all measurements to make a proper estimate. The kit was a little pricey but I honestly I didn’t see large scale models. This is a average size for a ship model I’m sure that if I had looked into other sites I would have found what I was looking for in this price range.

Wow, this kit was fabulous from Revell. The detailing on the boat is wonderful, with both recessed and raised parts, giving a very nice sense of scale. It included 3 different markings, so it's possible to create a Wolfpack of these u-boats. The fit was great and is a newer tooling from around 2009, so it's as expected. All in all a great kit by revell, the only downside is the censoring of the flag, but that's understandable. If you've built a relatively modern revell kit, you know what quality to expect.

Revell of Germany never disappoints. All parts fit well and no warping. I just need to paint it.

Das Modell ist verblüffend detailliert. Fast alle Teile lassen sich gut aus der Gussform lösen. Lediglich beim Heck habe ich was abgebrochen. Als Schwierigkeitsgrad wird eine mittlere Schwierigkeit angegeben. In der Praxis heißt das, dass das Modell für ungeduldige 9jährige Jungs zu schwierig ist. Papa muss dann ran. Was neben den Modell noch gebraucht wird ist ein ein kleiner Bohrer (<=1.5mm), Zwirn, Bastelkleber, sehr feines Schleifpapier und eine kleine Kneifzange um Einzelteile aus der Gussform zu lösen. Eventuell auch noch Klebeband, welches sich leicht ablösen löst. Will man das Modell farbig machen, wird es allerdings aufwendig. Ich bin auf ca. 40,- EUR gekommen, wenn ich alle Farben neu kaufen würde. Reine Bauzeit dürfte so bei 2-3 Stunden liegen. Kann man Vater-Sohn-Gespann natürlich endlos ausdehnen. Bemalt habe ich mein U-Boot nicht, keine Ahnung wie lange das dauern würde.

Que muy bien una vez terminada. Recomiendo pintarla con aerógrafo.
