I’ve been using the Blue Wave 8-Year 24-ft round winter cover for my above-ground pool, and it’s been a dependable option for getting through harsh winters without worrying about damage or cleanup in the spring. The first thing I noticed is how solid the material feels. It’s made from woven polyethylene with a reinforced scrim, so it doesn’t feel flimsy at all—it’s built to handle snow, wind, and debris without tearing easily. The heat-sealed seams add to that durability, helping it hold up through the entire season . The 4-foot overlap is a big advantage. It gives you plenty of extra material to secure the cover tightly, and the grommets spaced around the edge make it easy to lock everything down with the included cable and winch. Once it’s on, it stays put—even during rough weather . Another standout feature is the solid design with the black underside. It does a great job blocking sunlight, which helps reduce algae growth and keeps the pool water cleaner by spring. It also keeps out leaves, dirt, and other debris, so opening the pool later is much less of a hassle . Installation is pretty straightforward, though like most pool covers, it’s easier with two people just to get everything centered evenly. Once in place, it requires minimal adjustment. Overall, this is a great value winter cover. It’s not the absolute heaviest-duty option on the market, but it strikes a really nice balance between durability, protection, and price. I have a 21' above ground pool so I ordered the 21' cover. The cover is actually 25' in diameter so it fits my pool perfectly with plenty of overhang even with an air pillow underneath it. Be aware that you get what you pay for. This cover is made from run-of-the-mill nylon/polyester mesh fabric with a polyethlene coating (the same as those cheap blue poly tarps from the hardware store). I seriously doubt that this tarp will last more than one or two seasons (my previous cover lasted one season and it was made of the same material). The "8-year" warranty is very misleading. Year 1 is 100% covered, year 2 is 50% off retail, year 3 is 40% off retail, year 4 is 30% off retail, year 5 is 20% off retail, year 6 is 15% off retail, year 7 is 10% off retail, and year 8 is 5% off retail. But, again, this is an inexpensive cover and should get the job done for a season or two. It fits perfectly and I'm happy with my purchase. UPDATE 10/31/2014 ================= The cover worked well for one winter season. We removed the cover in the Spring, hosed it off, and stored it in our crawl space until this Autumn. We closed down our pool and re-installed the cover about a month ago. We noticed that there was always a layer of water on top of the cover even after we pumped it dry. We just figured it was rain or dew buildup, but after a dry spell there was still a lot of water on top of the cover. We ended up buying another (same) cover and spent a great deal of time siphoning off the water and removing the old cover to install the new cover. While doing this we noticed lots of tiny holes in the old cover which is how the water was seeping on top. We got the new cover installed and everything is good now. Bottom line: the cover that we purchased a year ago only lasted one season. We're now on our second cover and we expect it to only last one season as well. This cover is pretty inexpensive so you get what you pay for. UPDATE: 09/19/2016 ===================================== I've now gone through THREE of these covers. The first two each lasted about two seasons (which, honestly, is what I was expecting). But the third cover didn't even make it through one season. A few months after covering our pool, the weave began to separate and water would leak up through the cover. Very poor quaity in my opinion. Third time's the charm, we will not order this over again.

The above ground pool cover was such a perfect buy for me. I live on a wooded lot. The placement of my pool gets a lot of leaves blown into the water. For two years I would not cover it with anything and it would cause lots and lots of debris to be blown into the pool. I would hAve to work on my pool for two weeks just getting everything from sticks to walnuts and leaves out of the pool. With this cover, I don't have to worry about all of the debris and I can focus on getting my chemicals regulated and ready to swim much sooner. The durability of this cover is very good. the price was fair without being too pricey. I would recommend this product to anyoNE needing a cover. It does a wonderful job. I ordered this cover for my new 18’ x 52” round above ground pool and used it when we closed our pool in early November 2022. It is my first time ever using a solid above ground pool cover, so I didn’t know what to expect. I am actually surprised that it has held up so far (knock on wood) during some of these crazy winds and storms! We used the red “string”/wire/whatever you wanna call it and ratchet that it came with and were able to get it to stay put so far. No extra cables or weights or anything to keep it held down. I bought a small pool cover pump to pump water off of it when we get heavy rains. A good tip is to leave SOME water around the cover (especially if you’re using a pillow!) to keep it from parachuting during heavy winds (although it still will a little bit…especially during really high winds). Use the winch to tie as tight as you can and make sure the cover is secure and you won’t have to worry about it blowing off. I am actually shocked it has stayed on! Keeping up with pumping water off is kind of annoying but I think it will be worth it not having to deal with a green swamp like we would with a mesh cover. Using a pillow in the center makes pumping water off a LOT easier. Do not drain too much water because this cover is meant to sit ON TOP OF the water! Do not pull it tight! We only drained about 3-4 inches below the skimmer and returns. The lower you drain the water at closing, the more stress you’re putting on your pool’s walls when the heavy rain and snow comes! It is a solid cover so it is NOT necessary to drain so much water like you would with a mesh one. Quality is mid at best, I suppose. It is pretty thin and flimsy but slightly better than just a regular old “tarp”. I plan on only using this for this season since it was cheap and buying another one for next closing. Overall, I recommend this cover if you can find it for cheap and don’t have high expectations. Forget about the 8 year “warranty”. This will last 2 seasons at best — maybe 3 if you don’t get a lot of heavy winds or rains. It is pretty thin and looks like it could rip easily. It has stayed on and has exceeded my expectations thus far. I will update this review when I take the cover off in late March/early April and let y’all know how it did! So far, so good! SPRING UPDATE!! Cover lasted all winter up until opening in early April! Never blew off, never ripped, excellent value! I will be buying another one when I close this season since the price is so good. Buy it!

We have had an above ground pool for over 30 years. This has to be the all-time best pool cover we have ever purchased. When we have rain and it puddles on the cover, we use our $10 pool pump we purchased and pump it off. Within 24 hours the pool cover is back tight as when we originally put it on. We have never had this before! I highly recommend this product!

While, this tarp works well, it does not last multiple years, sun and wind exposure along with the weather often tear this tarp before the winter/spring season is done and we are ready to open the pool. We still continue to get it because of its cost and the fact that it is mostly effective and preventing a bunch of leaves and debris in the pool when we open it at the end of each spring.

We put this pool cover on mid October! We decided to go up to the 28ft round instead of the 24ft that is for our pool! I’m so glad we did because that made putting on so much easier! It came with the wench that goes around the side of the cover and looped through! It’s held up so far and we’ve recently had 7inches of rain! I am going to go out and pump some water off today but so far it looks like it’s holding up well and protecting the pool and keeping the water clear! It’s really holding some weight though now! I’ll report back if it looks like it isn’t holding up! Buy the cover guys!

I have purchased one of these covers every year for the last seven years. Despite it being called an “8 year cover” I have always opted to replace it annually. I never expect it to last more than a year but I do expect it to be in stellar condition out of the box and last for one season. At least the last four of these covers have been damaged in some fashion out of the box. I’ve had a broken winch, a missing grommet, one cover that tore before winter was over, and one that allowed water to seep through. Attached are three photos from this year’s cover. There are two holes and on 5+ foot gap between grommets (which is counter to their claim of “evenly spaced grommets”). I inquired with the manufacturer as to their quality control and what, if anything, I should expect going forward with the quality of the product. Through three emails they haven’t yet answered the question but they did direct me to pursue a refund with Amazon. Unfortunately Amazon makes it very clear that they will only issue refunds for returned items. I had to put the cover on the pool to discover the defects and at my age I’m not going to remove it in order to return it… which would also require re-winterizing the pool to an extent. I was hoping for information or a resolution with the manufacturer. Being they punted it back to Amazon, and returning it is a near impossibility, I’m doing the only thing I can which is to share my experiences with other buyers. My advice is to seriously consider a different brand.

This is an 18' replacement for the one that came with our pool package in 2020. The pool cover was easy to install with 2 people and secured with the cable and winch which was included. Because we live in the Country in Canada where we get lots of wind/snow, we also apply pool wrap around the top to secure it further. The cover was a reasonable price. Happy with my purchase.

I bought the 24 foot model for my 22 foot round pool. Have to feed the wire through the groments all the way around, and connect the winch. The extra material made it really easy to drape over the walls of the pool. Material seems thin but very strong. Groments and seam along the edge appear to be well reinforced. So far holding up well. First winter so we'll how it goes come spring.
