Become the cheese master (who never has to settle for store-bought) with The Beginner's Guide to Cheese Making . Review: So much fun! - This book was a great introduction to home cheese making! Easy to follow recipes and great explanations on why! As a person in the food industry, I've always wanted to know why. While this is my hobby, I still like the why and the history. It's a really good read when you are just starting out. Good progression of cheeses to help you learn the techniques and processes. I'd had some experience making fresh ricotta and paneer, and a fresh chevre, it was fun learning to culture and build some more involved cheeses, including learning to create the rinds and the aging process. Also a great exercise in patience for someone like me who doesn't always have it! As you move through the chapters, you'll learn more that you can apply with each style of cheese. I appreciated the inclusion of the equipment needed also. It's been so much fun! Review: Must have for a beginner - I have not actually tried the recipes. However, the way the book presents the recipes and provides pages for me to capture my notes is great! It is easy to read, has many recipes and explains techniques. Looking forward to making cheese!

Informative
I'm not a big fan of books like this. However, much to my surprise, this is a good User Manual. Very clear. Very precise. Very informative. Glad I purchased it.

I need more cheese in my life
Overall a great product. Wasn't expecting that there would be other recipes in the book (even though it mentions it on the cover ๐) but the non cheese recipes are not a bad thing and a bit of a bonus, so still seems like a pretty rad cheese book. Book is high quality, easy to follow, and gives a good variety of cheeses. I also want to mention I said it had a 4.9 rating...I was wrong it is 4.6 but still good!

Great introduction
This book is very good for beginners. There are directions for a wide variety of cheeses, so you can start with something simple and get more adventurous over time if you wish. The author also give suggestions for work arounds and ways to do things without buying a lot of special equipment so you can try a few times without a big commitment. She also give a few mail order sources for items you might need to get started. I also like that she gives some trouble shooting tips with the first cheese that you can apply later on. I've made couple of the fresh cheese and been happy with the results.
