Great BASE Jumping Helmet - actual protection, not just a pretty camera mount
Like everything I've purchased from Giro, this product is totally overpriced for what it is, but a well designed and super sturdy helmet, with a great internal fastening system (I have two mips helmets, one for air and another for land). Used mine for a summer of BASE jumping - it's perfect for those smart enough to want a real helmet with a full face system (most skydive/base helmets are just expensive camera mounts...). Remember, you can't save yourself after a cliff or building strike if the hit knocks you the f*&# out!! Also, full face makes sense when you realize insurance doesn't cover the $20k+ cost of dental implants to replace the teeth you just knocked out because maybe you reached a little too much at deployment and opened with a 180... (must have been the pack job) For those of us stupid enough to use it for base jumping, I recommend removing the visor as this can be a snag point. If you're jumping a building drunk, at 3am after dancing salsa for several hours on a Friday night, the sun isn't much of an issue anyway. However, the visor is the most natural camera mount, so if you want to share your idiocy with hordes of online admirers, the alternative is to mount a camera on the top of the helmet with a 3M sticky pad, which you can literally rip off in a half second if snagged. There is no quick release system like with a SD helmet, but that's not so important for the low stuff, now is it... Also, this will not be as rugged as other helmets with a plastic or fiberglass cover, so keep it on the top of your stash bag and try not to bash it along rocks, trees, or security guards along the climb to your desired exit point.

Feels comfortable, cool, and impact-proof!
I got this helmet because I had a massive concussion road biking, and I canโt afford another one.It took a little practice to get on with the mouthguard, but once youโre in, itโs like being in the cockpit of an airplane.โsolid and impervious. I hope to never be able to report how it performs upon impact, but it already feels 10 times safer than my standard bike helmet, which they brought to the ER When I woke up, broken in seven places with blood all over it! I canโt imagine what it would take to break this thing, and I love the MIPs technology, which diffuses angular momentum by sliding inside the helmet (In effect, you have a helmet inside a helmet.) I was afraid it would be too warm, but there is plenty of ventilation.

Great Helmet Love it a lot. But be aware!
I really love this helmet itโs true to size comfortable easy to adjust, It is everything that you could look for in a solid full face. My only issue is quality from manufacturing. My helmet arrived with some minor scratches and manufacturing glue seeping out of the edges obviously these arenโt super noticeable but to me right out of the box looking up close it annoyed me. This quality is likely the same for all helmets but itโs so minor only you would notice and you can clean some of the glue up with an X-Acto knife and isopropyl alcohol. Itโs honestly a very good helmet for the price but the little imperfections were unexpected and off putting. At the end of the day itโs comfy and protects your brain, thatโs all you need

I use this on my OneWheel.
I use this on my OneWheel. Itโs stupidly comfy. The double D ring is comfortable and the ratcheting mech on the back is perfect. I donโt even feel the helmet when wearing it. Itโs not tight in the checks like a motorcycle helmet so talking is easy and you wonโt bite your cheeks. The vents keep air cool and also donโt impart hearing at all. Iโm also able to slip the helmet on while wearing bone conducting headphones. The two air vents near the ears are perfect to help line them up and adjust. Ect really nice helmet.

Feels solid.
I love it! I got the medium size. It's very snug to put on, but once on, it's a comfortable fit. The matte Dazzle looks really cool, just like the battleships from WW1 that had dazzle camo. The perspective might look odd in the picture, but that's due to the dazzle pattern. Comes with replacement pads, an extra visor with a mount, and a thin bag. Helmet itself feels like it could survive a major accident. I'll update my review if I have any problems or insights down the road.

Really cool looking helmet with premium fit and construction.
I have gotten many compliments on how cool this helmet looks. As a 4th grade teacher I value giving the students a positive role-model to look up to and I feel very proud riding my mountain bike to school wearing this helmet. I have not gotten a chance to test it's impact absorption thankfully, but I feel confident that it will protect the old noodle. I have also not used the full face protection because I have not been on a gnarly enough trail to warrant it, hopefully next year!

Amazing helmets. My wife and I both have one
Amazing helmets. My wife and I both have one. They vent really well, so unless it is really hot out, they aren't too much of a liability for overheating. Just keep moving to make the vents work :). Fit is excellent, feel very protective, excellent construction and quality. Tops.

Chin guard is only held together by a small layer of plastic. Cheap and dangerous design.
Update: I was standing in the garage with the helmet in my hand at about knee height and dropped it. It hit the floor and the chin guard completely busted. I found out the the only thing that holds the metal chin bracket is a very thin casing of plastic. Then the chin guard has nothing to attach to and just flops around. Thank god I didn't figure this out in a crash. This helmet seems good, but this is just a very poor design. I would stay away from this for sure and get a beefier model, or just a standard full face helmet. Hope this helps you out..... Earlier post: The helmet is awesome and I don't notice much weight difference compared a standard bike helmet when I'm riding. It straps easily to my pack for uphill riding, so I don't even take the face guard of. The guard is much easier to install than the older models that wraps around and clip in the back though. It just slides in and clips down. Really simple. I went with the chartreuse (which actually is like safety vest yellow). I feel the color stands out when I happen to be on the road and my friends love it because they can see me through the forest too. I did bust one of the visor detent clips the first day, but that's because it was on my pack and a low branch caught it. Totally my fault. It does come with an extra visor though that has a Go-Pto mount, so no problem. In all I'm super happy and feel mech safer on the trails. Regular helmets just don't cut it in the world of downhill. Sept 23 2020 update: after submitting for a refund, over 14 months ago, this seller finally issued me the $175 refund. That's is ridiculous!!! I would never buy this product, or anything else from this seller again. If you do, hope you don't have to submit for any type of timely return, or you'll be very sorry about your transaction....
