The reboot "All Engines Go" has brought with surprsies a plenty, but thankfully it has brought us some quality merch. James looks practically spot-on to how he looks on screen. His bright red paint gleams in the sunlight, and his yellow stripes are neatly applied. His face is 2D save his nose, and has a jovial smile printed on. He's heavy before you put in the batteries, meaning he's a strong puller. He uses the same motorized chassis unit as the other new engines, which takes 2 AA batteries and has the new, long red switch. He can haul an impressive load on the grey track, but I bet those toothed drive wheels help quite a bit too! James here is longer than Thomas, Percy, Nia, and the others, but still takes curves fine. My only real issue is the tender, which looks fine from most angles, but has strange gaps in the front and back when viewed from the top. Perhaps an issue with production, or a render error they overlooked? The tender coupling is also quite long, but it isn't an issue when taking curves or hills. It should be noted that the new style engines do not clear some tunnels or bridges, so bear that in mind when running this lad as well. Don't want any scuffs on his jet black funnel! Regardless, he performs well, looks really splendid as James should, and comes highly recommend from this Thomas fan.

My son has allways liked these trains. I get him a couple every year and he just loves them to tow toys with and uses his emagination. They are great. Purchase extra batteries! I recomend

Kids have recently got into Thomas and Friends and become familair with the various characters. We initially purchased a track not realising that it did not include any trains, so we've been picking up additional expansions to the train track along with additionals trains to add to it. (The trains work on any surface but just go in a straight line, but on a dedicated Thomas track itll follow the train in any direction) There are 2 parts to the set, the good thing is that they can all be detached and use just the train, any combination of the carriages or even add the carriages to other trains. Decent size and not too small, and the build quality is great that it wont just break after a few uses. Fun for any thomas fan and the whole family to interact with the trains.
