These urine strips have helped us monitor our senior dogs to the point of not spending thousands of dollars regularly on vet visits and tests! The Vets like to say that these are not accurate, but really, depending on the time of day your pet's urine is caught and tested, will always change the accuracy of the results. These tests offer the opportunity to get consistency by taking urine samples throughout the day as your pet has less concentrated urine and drinks more water, as well as the timing of how long their meals stay in their systems with or without urinating... AND how much it can change by either leaving the urine sample out in normal room temp vs. placing it in the fridge for some time. Bacteria and struvite can grow in certain environments, and those factors are factors in it all. It's a great way to get a good idea of where your pet stands in their bladder system. That way, if the test is constantly pointing to abnormalities, then you can feel more comfortable with similar results from clinical testing. We like to use another company as well to see the similarities between them as well. You get 50 strips in one container! Well worth it!!!

Good product. Easy to use, but a little hard to read. While the chart is on the bottle, FOR ME, I’d rather have it as an insert.

I need to keep track of my dog’s kidney function to monitor changes in proteins and other levels. This does exactly what I need. It doesn’t take long to use and does the job for the most important readings. My veterinarian has confirmed the findings are fairly accurate and useful for monitoring changes that might warrant concern. The specific gravity panel is uselessly inaccurate, but that’s to be expected with this method. My vet and I both question the pH reading as well. Anyway, pH levels in dog urine as with people can widely throughout the day, depending on circumstances, and if that’s important, pH-specific test kits are easy to obtain. But for protein and leukocytes and other readings, this is a really good monitor kit, at least for tracking changes that might trigger a visit to the vet and to tell if interventions like diet are working. I take a reading of the first morning urine for consistency and record it along with the color of the urine and her recent behavior, like hydration, diet, exercise, attentiveness, and energy levels. This comes with me to the vet. When she was first diagnosed with possible kidney issues, her protein, BUN, and creatinine levels were high, as recorded both in her blood panel and these strips. But everything else was normal and so was her behavior and energy and water consumption (she’s a border collie mix) so I wanted to correct this situation as soon as possible to prevent or forestall any escalation. I could watch her protein and creatinine levels becoming normal with a change in her diet, which was really gratifying. At her last vet visit her BUN and creatinine levels were still elevated but both had come down, with creatinine dropping significantly and no protein detected at all. I also take her blood pressure occasionally when she is most at rest, using a neonatal blood pressure monitor. She is my service animal and means the world to me so kidney issues are very alarming. Caring for her this way makes me feel like I have some control over her well-being, and the vet agrees.

I’ve used theses for a long time and there have been several instances they’ve scared me. They definitely show blood, pH well, but my dog has a very high specific gravity and almost always shows trace protein. I convinced myself it was a problem, got an UPC test only to find that her protein levels were normal she just have very high specific gravity. Specific gravity also reads weird. Good for identifying UTIs, not good for pet parents with anxiety.

Three things that make this a flawed system First - the colors on the strips don’t even match the baseline color squares on the bottle which is what you are supposed to use as comparison. Not only does shading matter on a color when reading urine results which this one is off on all accounts, but a couple of colors aren’t even the same color. One square shows blue on the bottle and is moss green on the dry strip. Second - running the test. How much urine do they think you will capture to dip it??? And they don’t provide the small vial they have in their video, not that anybody would want to funnel urine into one. So you have to do crazy things to get all of the squares wet. Would have been more efficient to have half the tests on one strip and the other half on a different strip. Third - reading the results. What are we reading? Not only the issue I mentioned as the first concern but nothing on the bottle or instructions say what normal baselines are and what levels are concerns. So I guess you can google it but at this point based on all three concerns, I don’t trust anything this test shows. Literally nothing Was hoping this would give me answers before spending hundreds at the vet to find out nothing is wrong but all I did was waste money and time.

I used it for my little dog. After comparing its result with the glucose test in vet office, I found It's good enough to understand my dog's blood sugar range. Plus, the urine test is no painful for my dog and much lower cost than visiting vet office. So, I will keep using it and strongly recommend!

Seemed to be accurate when I tested my collies urine first vet I took her to did a urine test said nothing wrong second opinion via bloodwork she had kidney disease, sadly we lost her Feb 14 this year at 5 years old. Accurate recently tested my 8 year old girl high glucose in the strip, sure enough after vet did full blood panel and glucose testing she is diabetic I would highly recommend I own a bunch of collies and I've tested some of my others and it shows normal

My dog had typical symptoms of a UTI, dripping urine, frequent squatting to attempt to pee but not much pee coming out, having accidents at home, and I am also pretty sure there was blood coming out from his penis on at least two occasions. I know doctors usually prescribe antibiotics for this however we've been waiting for a vet's appointment for a month so in the meantime, since the symptoms have not been improving, I managed to buy these urine tests (the same urine tests they run in Vets4Pets cost £60-£80 per one!!!) and then find a Protexin Veterinary CystoPro - Bladder and Urinary Support for Dog capsules. My dog had one capsule every morning. I also added water to his food, and added around half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to his breakfast and dinner for the first 5 days (then only half a teaspoon for breakfast), also went out for short walks more frequently, for my dog to pee and flush it all out without holding it in for too long. The test showed a UTI infection and no glucose in the urine helping us establish what the problem was. Before, the urine test (I did two tests from two different urine samples, only took a photo of one that day) showed a high Ph level as well as 500+ leukocytes in urine. In the photo you can see the last, bottom square is purple before and white after treatment - that was leukocyte levels. The dark green square in the middle indicating the Ph level also changed to orange after treatment indicating a lower, better, Ph level now. So in a week (just days day before our vet's appointment) we repeated the urine test and it showed everything cleared up. As you can imagine we had a very pleasant visit at the vet, he listened to us, examined every little detail, and said it all looks good now. We were told there is no need for any further treatment or diagnostics. I would recommend this product as well as the capsules, for at least trying out for a week before attempting more serious, antibiotic treatment. Of course, keep in mind all dogs are different, every organism will react differently, etc, I also haven't done any lab urine tests to comment on the accuracy of this test however all the results (both elevated Ph and leukocytes) and symptoms seem to be consistent with a UTI that was treated. I am still planning on finishing the pack of 30 just to be safe that it doesn't come back. I am really impressed with this entire process that we were able to do in our own home! The delivery was so quick also for both products I am reviewing! Next-day delivery. Way faster than waiting for the vet. The test also comes with a little flyer that my dog ate but from what I managed to retrieve from his mouth it had a good little analysis key for reading the results. For this price, it's very much worth it!
