I have a front loading machine, in which I usually put liquid detergent in the slot. Will these still work? I can't start the water beforehand

I don't have a front loader myself, but at the rv Resort we are staying at that is the type of machine that is here. I just put the detergent pod in with my clothes when I put the clothes in. If you have never used grab green before, you will immediately notice how much cleaner your clothes are and how great they feel.  No more blue goo on your clothes!  Hope I was able to help.

Based on the reviews it seems this product is either good or bad. Is it possible the problems have something to do with the water being hard or soft?

I doubt our issue of the smell of our laundry while using this detergent could be attributed to hard/soft water. We don't have hard water at all but this detergent left an awful, awful sour smell on our clothes. And it wasn't just certain laundry that smelled bad. It was adult clothes, baby clothes, sheets, and towels. After all of those things smelled terrible, I realized it was the detergent being used and not the clothes themselves or our water. As soon as I switched back to my homemade, unscented detergent, the smell was gone. I really wanted to love this stuff but I couldn't handle to smell that came along with it.

is the pod made with plastics or are there any plastics for dispersal in this product?

The pods are made from PVA which IS a microplastic.

Sure this microplastic is biodegradable -->IF<-- properly conditioned. However. In the U.S., most wastewater treatment facilities do not have all of the conditioners necessary for PVA to fully degrade. Either the microorganisms and enzymes are not present, or the wastewater containing PVA doesn’t spend enough time in the wastewater treatment facility to be adequately treated for degradation.

So, it depends on whose numbers you want to believe but, there is somewhere between a 33% chance up to a 66% chance that the microplastic your pod turns into in the wash will eventually end up unconditioned (still plastic) in the ocean. Sure it will be microscopic, but it WILL be there.
