I got this book for my son and he shared how incredibly helpful it has been for him. The methods are practical, and the descriptions are so clear and easy to follow.

This book prepares students for different types of math contests and helps them understand complex problems. It provides good mix of Basic and challenging problems which is suitable for different skill levels.

The biggest problem I had with this book were the mistakes. All kinds: grammar, problem formulation, and answers. Here's an example from no further than Test 1, problem 5: 'How many diagonals does a regular square and octagon have?' First - grammar, "do" instead of "does". Then, semantics : only the square is regular, not the octagon? Third: for clarity, the word 'together" (octagon and square, together) should be specified. A simple, early example where I spotted 3 mistakes. There are the more systemic issues with this book. It contains 20 tests with problems of moderate difficulty for grades 6 and up. However, it states, misleadingly, that the target audience consists of students in Grades 4-8. No way would a student under 6th grade know radicals, probabilities, and advanced geometry. Also misleading is the name American Math Academy, which is just a private tutoring business, nothing to do with The American Mathematical Society. Even the author introduction on the first page is laughable: 10 sentences that explain in bad English that the author is tutoring for everything Math somewhere in NJ. It's a random Math book with 2 minor merits: a few pages with popular formulas in the beginning and the large, relaxed print, useful for kids to scribble the solution directly on the book. Don't buy! The MOEMS and AOPS books for Math Olympiads are clearly organized on elementary and middle school level and have a much better coverage (I am not affiliated with them, I just use them for preparing my kids).

Disappointed. There are lots of errors or even misprint on both multiple choice answers on each question or the solutions. Totally waste my time to check the answers. Also the English is lousy and make me confuse.

Lots of mistakes! Don’t know why it is recommended by Amazon.

I bought this to supplement my son on his math competition journey. There are mis tying every where. Wrong numbers, wrong symbol that leads to questions that cant be solved based on the given multiple choices. Would love to return this, but it is not amazon fault.
