The Modern Witchcraft Book of Tarot: Your Complete Guide to Understanding the Tarot (Modern Witchcraft Magic, Spells, Rituals) [Alexander, Skye] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Modern Witchcraft Book of Tarot: Your Complete Guide to Understanding the Tarot (Modern Witchcraft Magic, Spells, Rituals) Review: Every TAROTIST should own this book! - I have been reading Tarot for a few years now, both for myself and others; and I've always wanted a more thorough reference guide to help me improve my craft but let me tell you, I should've bought this ages ago! I think it's an awesome companion for all of your tarot decks, especially those mini/pocket ones with no booklet included; at least until you become more comfortable with your own unique interpretations. Even then, you can still utilize this text and display on your bookshelf! It's gorgeously designed, possessing almost a vintage aesthetic and quality to it, maybe the main image is a little off-center but beautiful nonetheless, wonderfully organized (a snippet of the table of contents is above), RWS images are used to illustrate the cards, and really it's just an all-around great value for your money. Honestly, I mainly bought this to sort of pick-and-choose the sections I need at whatever time but I'm reading straight through at the moment and it is such an easy, thoughtful read, very knowledgeable. I'm not saying it's without faults (I don't really know which yet) nor that I'll always agree on certain points but regardless, I adore it!! Review: Great Book - Great book! I'm done reading it already but I still need it for referencing. I'm still learning everything. Great advice and great visuals too! Well written book!

Great Book and Great Read
I couldn’t wait to receive it and read it! I read the first few pages of the book and it’s very interesting, wisdom and knowledge of magick. I noticed that it does explain in details of reading tarot cards. I chose to buy a used book instead of a new one. I believe in preserving old books!

perfection at its finest! A+++
so i’m *very* new to tarot. I had no idea what I was doing or where to even begin. I just kinda jumped in lol I watched a few videos & bought a few books before this one, nothing really helped, it just made me overwhelmed. Then I found this one!!! My biggest advice is to start with THIS book! It’s so easy to understand which helped strengthen my own intuition and connect to my deck. Im using a RWS deck with this book because it definitely helps me to see the same image on the page as I see on my card. The book itself is hauntingly gorgeous! The cover, the pages, the purposeful “stains” on the edges makes it feel like it’s already broke in and very wise, like a witchy grandmother passed it down to me haha! There are spells and spreads in the back of the book, I haven’t gotten that far yet but just reading through them made me so excited! It has become a very scared book in my library and i’m very blessed to have it. For anyone getting into to tarot I could not recommend this enough! ✨

Tarot
I really feel that this book needs more details, especially about how the cards blend into one another and detail details about the major Arcana and the minor Arcana and how the two Arcana’s blend into each other.

You'd be making a great choice buying this book!
I have been interested in Tarot for years. But like most people I was a bit intimidated by the how much there is to learn about and the complexity of this sacred oracle. A lot of other books and writings about it can come off a bit overwhelming to a new reader but not in this case. Skye Alexander has provided a lot of great fundamental education in this collection from its rich history and card meanings to How to start reading the cards in spreads. It also includes a section on spell-work with the Tarot which would be the only (small) part of the book I chose not to utilize as most spells involved damaging your cards which I cant bring myself to do to even my stater deck that I have since moved on from. But aside from that this book is gives you a great foundation and reference guide that I still am using daily. Less importantly but a wonderful bonus is this book is very well made and attractive to the eye and looks great on your shelf boasting a nice textured hard cover and pages with a vintage feel. For a beginner this is a really good start it will absolutely be a great confidence builder to doing your own readings.

Adequate
When I saw the title “Modern Witchcraft Book of Tarot,” I was presumptuous there would be information on incorporating magical practice into modern tarot reading and vice versa. This book did that somewhat. There are some interesting spells in the back of the book. Like many books with spell recipes, the author doesn’t explain how to dispose of the remains of each spell. The author has less modern, more (dare I say) outdated views on who the court cards can represent as a person. She supposes that a woman’s signifier card should be a page or queen corresponding with her age and astrological element. Knight or king for men. I think this is incredibly limiting, as many people will identify with the traits outside of what her guidelines suggest. I personally use King of Pentacles as my signifier, whereas the author would suggest I choose Page of Cups (that would be very contradictory to who I am.) She doesn’t even suggest that someone might identify with a court card separate from the age/element/gender assignment she’s given. The only alternative for signifiers, she says, are major arcana (as some people might identify strongly with a major arcana card. But she doesn’t get that someone might identify strongly with a *different* court card than she says? Really?) In a similar vein, in the descriptions of the court cards, she implies that if they represent a person in a reading, they are.. A mature man for Kings, mature woman for queens, knights as a young man, pages as a child of any gender. This is an incredibly UN-modern way to view the court cards and is also extremely limiting. As we well know, in some decks, the knights are even women. While I refuse to give this book a low rating because it is relatively well written and direct, I do think titling it “Modern witchcraft book of tarot” is a laugh. This book doesn’t have any interesting magickal spin on her card descriptions either. They are very cookie-cutter. You may find more in depth and open views of the cards simply by googling them. The value in this book is the spells. That is where the “modern witchcraft” comes in. Do NOT buy this book if you’re beginning tarot and need help defining card meanings- buy it if you want to have fun incorporating tarot into your magickal practice.

Beautiful design and layout, beautiful paper, and actually helpful content. The book is well written, the content organised in a way that eases the start into the craft, but also works well as a reference work to look up meanings you havent memorized yet. The only thing i dont like, is that the beatiful handmade paper doesnt easily let you turn the pages. But it looks amazing. The most important part: I am so glad the language is actually understandable and not redundant rambling as many books on the topic i have seen, bc that infuriates me. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn tarot.
