From start to finish, the experience felt elevated compared to other box dyes I’ve used in the past. **Application was super easy**, even for someone like me who isn’t a pro. The instructions were clear, and the formula applied smoothly without any mess or fuss. What really stood out to me was the **barrier cream** included in the kit – such a game-changer! It worked *brilliantly* to protect my forehead and ears from staining, which is something I've always struggled with using other at-home dyes. Usually, I end up scrubbing my skin with makeup remover afterwards, but not this time – no staining at all! The colour developed evenly and left my hair feeling soft and nourished, not dried out or overly processed. The shade (Dark Natural Brown 3) was exactly what I was hoping for – rich, natural-looking, and glossy without any weird undertones. Now, the real test will be how long it lasts, especially compared to a salon dye. If it holds up well over the next few weeks without fading too quickly, I may never go back to the salon again! Fantastic DIY hair dye kits! I haven’t attempted to dye my own hair for decades, but I’m currently trying to find a hairdresser (mine has sadly moved on), and a quick fix was needed. Having dark brown hair (naturally and previous permanent brown hair colouring). Alongside, being 48 years old with the beginnings of SOS grey hair issues! After some research and reading through reviews- decided to give this Josh Wood kit a go. Thankfully, it has been the perfect solution to my cover grey hairs and given my hair a new lease of life and lovely shine again. The instructions are easy to follow (make sure you read carefully & do the test before using), has handy tips and proved straight forward to use. The added bonus for me was that it didn’t make a mess (of bathroom, clothing, face or hair), and any slips were easily removed, if done quickly - had a few cloth's to hand. The gloves were very good and essential too. I didn’t find the barrier cream helpful because my fine hairs kept sticking to the cream - the dye doesn’t take should you try to apply it on top. So, I had to wash cream off before & dry hairs before using the dye. I did buy a cheap hair dye brush & bowl kit rather than just using the bottle. This helped to thoroughly mix the product, getting tricky hairline hairs and ensuring roots/ grey hairs were completely covered to get decent and even coverage. For the last ten minutes I rubbed through and covered lower sections of hair (not tips) as explained in instructions. Rinsed dye, washed hair with my biotin shampoo, and used the deep conditioning treatment sachet. This treatment is great and even enough leftover for a few hair washes after dying it, prolonging the super shine! Josh Wood Colour kit demonstrates how far home hair dye kits have come. Think I’ll be using it again and likely other ‘JW’ products in future. This kit is a game changer for me, and the best product to turn to for root touch ups especially as an in between hairdressers solution, and save money. Now to find a new hairdresser for a haircut !?!

I love Josh Wood Colour, the very best in my opinion. I haven't seen my natural hair colour in years and have coloured my hair shades of blonde and brown. As I now have a little grey hair at the roots and around my hair line Josh Wood Colour covers this 100% just like it promises and this is my favourite shade. The colour is just like the photograph on the packet and it leaves my hair in great condition with a lovely shine and feeling very soft and manageable. This is a little more pricey than most of the other colourants on the market but for me it does what it says and is well worth it .

Never tried this one before and will be using it again - actually does cover greys, unlike others I have tried.. less toxic ( I reacted to the last clairol one I used, horrible rash), and it left my hair silky and conditioned.. I did go a shade lighter than expected and that was right.. quality !

Don’t normally review but this left my hair soft and conditioned, smells lovely and didn’t irritate my scalp like other dyes do. Also a really nice natural colour with good grey coverage.

Disappointed , after reading all the good reviews was looking forward to a salon quality home colour. Followed the instructions, left the colour on for the specified time, used a shampoo for coloured hair and the next day my roots totally visible and no grey coverage on my temples. Sadly won’t repurchase

I have little experience of colouring my own hair, but found this to be easy to use and effective in coverage. The product is quite thick in texture so there are no drips and the blocking cream provided ensured there was no staining on the surrounding skin after. The colour was a little darker than I anticipated but fine and the conditioner provided made my hair look really shiny. I can thoroughly recommend this product and would not hesitate to use it again.
