There are so many cheap USB-C cables available on Amazon. I prefer Cable Matters cables because they have the USB-IF logo, meaning they've been tested and certified to meet their stated performance. They cost a little more, but I think it's worth it for the peace of mind.

A few years ago, I went on the hunt to find a quality cable company without breaking the bank. Something that would last without wearing out (like stock cables that come bundled with your phone/components). That’s when I discovered Cable Matters. I’m always skeptical of a new or lesser well-known brand. But I thought, hey I’ll give them a try. I have never been disappointed, and this cable joins many other cables from Cable Matters. In fact, when searching for new cables, Cable Matters is often one of the companies I check. That’s why I am super excited to do this review. It was a no brainer. I already knew the quality I was going to get and I’m glad I could support them with a review they justifiably deserve. Funny. I literally just purchased a cable almost exactly like this one – even from the same company! I was looking for: USB-C (USB3/4), 20 Gbps transfer rate, 100W power delivery, passive cable, and 6 feet. The only difference between the two is this one is square shaped at the plug; whereas, my other cable has rounded edges. I’ve had the other cable for a few months. It has gone with me on multiple trips. Has survived, very durable. This one is made of the same stuff, nearly identical, and is likewise very durable. It will last too. The big things to note. It does NOT have a 40 Gbps transfer rate. But that also means the cable is passive versus active. Active needs to be powered, passive does not. Active cables wont work in a non-powered USB slot; whereas, passive will. Just a little bit of a side note in case you need the faster transfer rate or active cable. I would buy and I do recommend.

For context, I’m a photographer. I own a lot of cables of various USB standards and I’ve thrown a lot out. CableMatters is, in my experience, one of the best brands on the market. I use this cable to tether my camera to my computer for studio sessions. The connection is solid and stable, and I haven’t experienced any disconnections of hiccups even when moving the camera around with the cable attached. Furthermore, the length of the cable while still maintaining the 20Gbps bandwidth is phenomenal, and I’d be hard pressed to find a suitable alternative for the price. The cable is quite thick, as I’d expect of a USB 3.2 gen 2x2/USB4 cable. It’s got thick rubber sheathing and has a tendency to hold it’s bends, but I’ve never found it to be excessively stiff, nor have I encountered any permanent kinks in the cable even when clamped to the tripod plate beneath my camera. My setup in particular places the cable at a pretty sharp curve near the attachment point, but after several months of use I haven’t encountered any kinks, disconnects, or issues with charging or data transfer. After some testing on a 20Gbps USB 3.2 gen 2x2 SSD (Sandisk 4TB Extreme Pro v2), I found that the advertised transfer speed was accurate. The cable consistently maintained a stable 20Gbps connection. And, as much as this may sound like a long winded way of saying “yes, the cable works as advertised,” I want to point out that many comparable USB cables cut corners where this product has not. Many cables advertised at 20/40Gbps will not maintain a stable connection, and I’ve encountered issues when using subpar counterparts to CableMatters. If you’re looking for a sturdy, reliable, and generally excellent USB 3.2 Gen 2x2/USB4 cable, this is the one for you. I expect nothing but the best from CableMatters, and this product lives up to those expectations and then some!

The cable is of high quality however it is impractical to use this cable in a mobile setting as the cable is very thick and what I don't like about it the most is that the tips are elongated in such a way that if the tip were stressed or flexed but mistakingly It would not only damage the cable but it would also damage the port I understand that the control chip or module is actually inside of that piece and that is what is contributing to its size however I believe that this company could have easily changed that and not went with that type of design but actually integrated it into a different part of the cable that will be less vulnerable to stress.

These work great. Charging and data transfers are quick.

Works as intended. I bought an enclosure for my SSD (850 evo) that used a USB-C 3 connection (one end like this, other end USB 3. Both are classed as USB-C in terms of performance and from what I researched have the same speeds via this cable or that one). However, I wanted one with both ends like this since my laptop has limited USB connections. The enclosure model I'm using specifically is the Orico 2.5" USB-C (bought from here too) and I had to buy this cable separately but they said it would work. I'm satisfied with its performance, length, and quality. I didn't run benchmarks but the applications I used via desktop are loading as noticeably quickly on my laptop now. For video displays they have a more expensive model. I don't have a thunderbolt display though so that's not something I can comment on. Also impressed by their customer service over a product (cables) that you wouldn't think have any major support. They do take it seriously, answer questions, follow up with purchase thank you emails, etc. which is why I'm glad I paid more for theirs over say a competitor that owns a whole site we all know about *cough cough*. Reviews speak for themselves.

I was having issues transferring files over 3gb from my pixel 6 to my Asus Chromebook+. This cable fixed my problem! Speeds are good enough to transfer a 1.8gb file in roughly 5 seconds. Compared to my USB 2.0 cable I use for charging this is near light speed.

Werkte niet op de Surface Laptop 3 in combinatie met Dell 3818DW. Geen signaal. De laptop werd wel geladen. Teruggestuurd.

Great cable. I was pretty skeptical ordering it. But to my surprise it has a rather low resistance and has all the correct wiring unlike some cheap cables that you can get online. Also works perfectly with tb3 port sharing screen from my laptop to the portable screen. And lastly it has some sort of silicone coating rather than the mesh coating that most of other manufacturers do. Thank you
