How do you add the fan?

It seems as you can't add the fan by plugging it in. You have to soder it to the board when using the screen. There are schematics online.

Is there enough room to add a battery/ups board inside the case? would you build one a little taller to accommodate such an addition?

No,once displayed on a small screen, the signal will not go through the HDMI interface.
