A universal Sony remote very similar to original in design and functions a lot like a good alternative to your original remote, with the exception of needing line-of-sight to function. While the original remote connected via Bluetooth and likely worked from anywhere in the room, this universal remote uses infrared and requires pointing it directly at the TV to work, which is a common difference between original remotes and many universal replacements. While it might be less convenient than your original remote, the wider compatibility and features this universal remote offers might make it a worthwhile trade-off or replacement for a lost remote.

Buttons began wearing out right away. Then battery went dead - put new batteries in. Then, after a few days the battery went dead and some of the buttons were completely worn out and were basically non-functional. So, I ordered the OEM remote (of Sony) and set it up and it was GREAT! From now on I'll stick with OEM replacements of whatever I need.

This remote pairs well with any HD TV set. But it is difficult to set up voice control, I haven't been able to do it yet. I got a partial voice control once but it went away. Good remote but bad for voice.

Stopped working after 1 week. Thought it was the batteries. Replaced the batteries 3 times and still didn't work.

I am pretty happy with the remote as my microphone wasn't working on the original. My complaint is that I can't use it for the TV~I have to use the cable remote for that. I've been told this is how it's supposed to be, but I have a hard time believing that the TV remote doesn't work on the TV that it came with.

Although this remote looks like the original Sony, the push buttons do not work well. They are not de-bounced very effectively. You will frequently get multiple entries of the channel number you wish. The volume button can also latch, ramping the volume all the way to the maximum value even after you release the button. I will look for another remote to replace this one.
