An Excellent Fully Automatic Turntable
From my review in Outword... The sound quality, is simply amazing. During COVID I bought ELO’s “Out of the Blue” with the album artwork on the disc themselves. I thought it made for a poor pressing when I played it on my old Techniques turntable, but the Automat showed just how glorious it was regardless of the image discs. The Ortofon really pulls out the subtleties, air and space that is so cleverly imbedded in those grooves. Andreas Vollenweider’s “Down to the Moon” is a masterpieces that shines on this turntable. I don’t have many LPs available to me but I can say Norah Jone’s “Come Away With Me” is a stunner, Lorena McKinnitt’s “The Visit” is breathtaking. At this point, I am not longing for upgrades. The Automat is amazing just the way it is. The fact that you get that level of sound quality, and the machine will put on, and take off the tone arm and stop the platter is almost unbelievable. It may sound petty, but I wish it was slightly more automatic. It would be great if it had a Repeat function, and out of this world if it had a remote control so you could start it from the comfort of your sofa. But, alas, having a record player and listening to records is about the experience. it's is an excellent machine. I am really enjoying it.

Poor quality, defective and poor support.
Did not work. Had 3 chunks of foam stuck inside the belt. Removed them and the table would spin. Tone arom would never lower to play records. Returned it defective. Took 11 days for pro-ject to reply to my request for help - item was long returned.

Quality turntable
Never got rid of my vinyl records so it great to play them again, lots of gems that I forgot about. At first I ran this turntable through my phono imput on my receiver and got a lot of feedback, switched to the turntables built in amp and connected it to one of the other imputs on my receiver instead of the phono connection and it worked great that way. Great smooth sound!

Underwhelmed.
How do I return? I am getting a humming nois. My ground is solid. This does not have the build quality I would expect for a $400 piece of equipment. Cheep feeling plastics levers and switches. It tends to get a hum periodically as well. I have a solid ground to amp. Sound quality is OK. I just needed something to fill the slot while I rehab my Revox b790 that started glitching. Just not happy.

My second, but better than the last version
Update : the platter kept scraping the plinth. Unfortunately the seller on this site was not authorized, so I was out of luck. Not a pleasant experience. I eventually purchased a AT-LP3. This turntable is made in the Rekkord factory in Germany which used to be Dual before they sold the name. It has been available under several names (Dual, Marantz, Andover, Rekkord, Thorens), but this version has a higher quality set of RCA cables than the others (which are otherwise identical). There's nothing to adjust on this and the cartridge is pre-mounted and adjusted. I checked it with the MFSL Geodisc and it was aligned perfectly out of the box. In the past this has been sold with both AT and Ortofon cartridges, so you actually do have several options for a replacement in spite of what reviewers have said to the contrary. The OM10 cartridge is decent for most listening, and there are replacement styli options too (OM20, LP Gear upgraded, etc.). One word of caution is that these come with the phono preamp engaged. Maybe that's what most casual listeners need? it's easy to switch off if you need to. Comparing this to my Rega 3 with a Pearl cartridge, it sounds pretty much the same. Not high-end I suppose, but perfectly enjoyable.

Returned due to motor noise. Replacement ok
The first unit I received had noticeable audible interference caused by the motor that I could hear in my speakers. Did all the troubleshooting the website suggested and finally returned via Amazon. Replacement unit did not have the issue and plays fine. Overall the turntable is super easy to operate and feels sturdy. I like the option to turn on/off the pre amp, and the automatic features work perfectly. I’m a bit disappointed in the sound quality so I’ll likely upgrade to the Ortofon OM 20 stylus as others have suggested. Removed 1 star for the motor noise in the first unit. Pro-Ject makes quality turntables and Quality control should have caught that. Thankfully the Amazon Prime returns process was relatively painless.

Very nice for the money!
This is not the top of the line turntable, but it has excellent sound like one. I am truly impressed with the performance of this product right out of the box.

Damaged during transit
Damaged during transit, If you’re really into vinyl you know how complicated it could be doing a set up I got all the pieces put together went to drop in LP and enjoy my set up when I noticed nothing was happening I took a closer look and the needle at the end of the stylus was broken off currently going through the nightmare that is returning big ticket items nowadays to Amazon Truly am hoping to get the full $540 that I spent back considering it was never used in arrived broken in unusable condition I highly doubt that it was manufacture because these are all handmade in Germany to a very high standard will be replacing it for the same item Whenever all this nonsense is resolved

Très bon rapport prix qualite
Après un.echange rapide suite à un problème de réglage de la fin de course cette platine est de très bonne qualité avec une restitution des sons très bon et l'automatisme est très agreable

Give me that old time rock and roll!
Grandson loves his new turntable. He learning about vinyl and this is just right for his first one. In fact the whole family is enjoying it. I did buy an upgraded cartridge but I suggested that he wait until he uses it for a while and then switch when he will appreciate the difference.

Fully automatic with preamp
If you want a fully automatic turntable, this seems a great option from pro-ject. Ortofon cartridge is quite good. Not the warmest of sound but I think this is a perfectly good midrange option. Pre amp is switchable.

Very poor build quality
On first using the player I was impressed by the sound quality, especially as it was being compared to a very old Technics from the 80's from a mid range hi-fi system. But it did last 30-40 years!! However, after some time the problems appeared. The platter became unstable, dragging on something inside and the speed of the playing altered creating a very unpleasant experience. I contacted to the retailer who offered to look at it and they returned it to Pro-Ject for repairs. Pro-Ject supplied a "new" item. Delighted by this excellent service I set up the new turntable and put a record on..... EXACTLY the same fault. The platter unstable and dragging on something inside once per revolution, weird play speed and the dragging making it worse every spin. This time I asked the retailer for a refund or a different item. They offered me a TEAC to replace it. Now when I received that I understood just how badly built this pro-ject is for the money. Having read through the reviews that have appeared since my purchase I see this is a common issue and not a one off. This unit seems to have a design fault somewhere relating to the stability of the platter.
