C.H.I.P.S.: The Complete Sixth Season (DVD)

Needed this last episode to complete my set. This was a great tv series in its day.

My CHiP's tv series on DVD is at last complete. I now have all 6 seasons, and the 1999 reunion tv movie as well. The Season 6 set includes some episodes which MEtv always seemed to skip over, which made it even more enjoyable. I particularly love the episode COUNTRY ACTION which featured country music legends Johnny Lee & Mickey Gilley, as well as the episode FOX TRAP which featured 80's pop/rock sensation Laura Branigan singing her breakthrough hit "Gloria". After reading the trivial facts about CHiP's, I learned that Bruce Penhall (Bruce Nelson) actually is a motocross & speed bike racing champion in real life, which the show's writers decided to make part of his character. As for the CHiP's '99 movie, I hadn't seen it since it originally aired on NBC. I particularly like the part which Ponch talked Jon into suing his next door neighbor for destruction of his yard, and the lawsuit aired on Judge Judy, which featured Judge Judy Sheindlin.

My family has been on a old TV show kick and we've been enjoying MacGyver, Knight Rider and Chips, and the kids request to watch them. The younger ones like Chips more and the older ones prefer MacGyver.

The last season of CHiPs is different than any previous seasons. Ponch has a new partner, the writing is not as good, most of the season doesn't even take place on the freeways, and there are not nearly as many stunts and collisions as before. It is fun, nevertheless. The sergeant finally gets an appearance in the opening sequence. The season still has that CHiPs feel to it, however it just feels like something is off. I guess after so many seasons with Jon Baker it's hard to imagine the last season without him. The season is still worth picking up, especially if you have been collecting the previous seasons. You probably just won't be watching this one as much.

Ponch gets a new partner after his old partner Jon goes to Wyoming to live on a ranch, Bobby Nelson his new partner is a hot dog motorcycle officer who is quick to act and slow to follow procedure. After the first four episodes of the season Bobby's brother Bruce Nelson comes onto the show as a academy student and works with Ponch and Bobby to catch the criminals. By the end of the season Bruce is Ponch's new partner and they work really great together. This is a great addition to the series.

I love this season the best. I never was a Jon fan. For me Ponch was the show. I love the new cast members. I love most of the episodes. My favorite episodes are the singing episodes with Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee and Laura Brannigan. Besides the episodes what I like about this set is there are 6 episodes per disc except the last disc which only has 4 episodes.

Received it quickly. Good show.

Another great! cop show from the 80's

「ジョン&パンチ」はずっと観ていましたが「パンチ＆ボビー」は関西では放映されなかったので、このDVDで初めて観ました。 キャストが変わっているだけで内容はおなじみのパターンで、安心して観ることができました。 何よりこの価格で日本語吹き替え版が手に入るのがありがたいです。
