50 Amp Cynder 00644 RV Camper Electrical Extension Cord 25' ft (25 Feet, Orange)

RV'ers know the need for good quality extension cords and the main Shore power cords have to be good. This is a great extension cord. Heavy duty sheath and wiring according to the weight. The plug ends are thick copper prongs and socket end couplers seem to have a high tension grip to the cable being extended. Weight is always a concern for RV payload. EXCEPT for these cables and adapters. This is the real deal 50 amp extension.

This is a difficult to find item in regular stores (including rv stores). Only 30 amp extension cables are available. When we were camping this past summer, we could not back up all the way because the rv park had the electrical panel too far towards the front. Now that we have the 50 amp extension cable, we can park where we want. Good price, too.

The price was right and I was short on cable by a bunch. Quality is excellent and it gets used most of the time. No problem with it carrying the full 50 amp load.

I bought this to hook up my 9400 starting watt/7500 running watt portable generator to my house, where an electrician installed a 50-amp male receptacle plug, with a utility/generator isolating cutover switch, and a 200-amp outdoor service cutoff breaker. I looked at many product photos to see which 50-amp cord would have a female plug with a deep enough socket to fit into the house socket (see photo). This one looked deep enough in the photo (no good side-view photos, no measurements, so I just had to hope). It is not even close enough to be deep enough for the house plug, but nothing sold on Amazon seems to have a deep style plug. (Bad product description = one star markdown.) So I had to spend $29 more for a 50-amp female plug, cut the plug off of this cable, and replace it with a deeper-socket plug (see photos). The good news is that the wire inside this cable is hefty, the copper conductor portion is 1/4 inch in diameter. The outside diameter of this cable is larger than a garden hose, but surprisingly flexible. If you need the same connector that I needed, you can find it on Amazon by searching for a "14-50 Assembly Connector". The one I bought (pictured) was the "Conntek 60839-00 14-50R Assembly Connector". It fits this cable perfectly and snugs down against the rubber sheath to make a secure fitting. This cable powered my whole-house air conditioner (for a house more than 2,000 square feet) off of my portable generator, although when the compressor kicks on you need to be sure that nothing else on your house is turned on because the startup current will take everything your generator has to offer. After the A/C compressor is started, the generator with this cable powered the A/C on high and 75% of the rest of the circuits in my house. P.S. While cutting the cable, I was warned by a family member that I might electrocute myself or burn the house down. When I plugged the cable in to the house, with the generator off and the isolator switch set to utility (no power to the generator circuit), I felt a tingle and thought it was just static electricity. My generator buzzed like a claxon when I plugged in this cable, it puffed smoke out of all the plug holes, and arced bits of copper off of my cable plug when I pulled it out. (But the isolator switch on the house was OFF/utility and the generator was not running!) It turns out that the electrician had allowed the 200-amp service cable to ground out against the inside of the conduit, put it all back together, and left me alone to electrocute myself. He came back the next day and fixed it. Lesson: always pull out your multitester and check for stray current after your electrician leaves. it could save your life. I survived, and my generator is fine. Thanks to the One who was watching over me. UPDATE: February 15, 2021, a cold wave hit Texas, power has been down since 2 AM today and it is 5 degrees outside. I am running on generator power now, this power cord is handling my whole house (with gas heat). The only circuits I have turned off are the electric dryer, dishwasher, and microwave, and this power cord is powering everything else.

Super heavy duty, home use, using it to charge electric vehicle. I plugged it into the dryer outlet after changing the original dryer plug. Then I used one inch electrical plastic clamps and long drywall screws and mounted the 50 amp extension cord along the wall and ceiling to make it much easier to plug the charging line which came with the car into the end of the extension line. Now plugging into the car is super easy.
