Works Great
This thing really works. So glad I found it and bought it. We are in a rural area with lots of trees and hills between us and the signal towers. We went from around 40 pixelated channels, to 150 very clear channels. We were so surprised at how well it works. Installation was easy and it was well worth the money.

Works great!
I purchased this to replace a similar device that died after many years of service. (10 plus) The old amp I was using also had a high and low gain setting. I have a large antenna, (not the biggest by any means), suspended from rafters in the attic of a two story house. I live in a very rural area, miles away from any station in NE Ohio and can only pick up 3 channels without an amp, and a poor signal at that. I got this connected up and on the low gain setting am now receiving 72 channels on my Tablo TV tuner. Of course many are duplicates but still. Although my antenna is directional, I'm picking us stations from all around me. Sometimes, due to atmospheric conditions, being able to pick up things from other directions can be beneficial. An important note: Others have mentioned this but it bears repeating. More power does not always equate to better reception. Any amplifier boosts both the signal as well as the noise, so keep that in mind. It is also important to locate the amp itself as near to the antenna as possible. In my case, that is near the antenna in the attic. In my application,17dB of gain works great. It is nice to have restored all the channels I had before the old unit died.

Trusted Brand and Works Great
Had to replace my old powered 8db gain per channel Splitter( different brand) due to power failure surges. I live in a rural area. I went with this 7.5db gain per channel Splitter(close enough). This is very sturdy, seems to be well made. Has a little weight to it which surprised me. Very easy to hook up and works well with no loss I can see. Also, had to replace the 28db PreAmp( different brand) at the antenna. Used the Channel Master adjustable 17 to 31db gain PreAmp. Even set at the low end I am able to pick up about twice the amount of channels during a scan. Picture very sharp and clear. Very pleased with these units and Channel Master.

It has helped me
This signal booster has definitely improved my reception and picture quality. I went from total brief channel loss during a show to occasional pixelation. I probably receive as many over air channels that are available in my viewing area

The darn thing actually works!
I live in the mountains surrounded by trees. I have a good digital over-the-air antenna, but I live far away from most of the TV signals. Mountains, Trees, Distance. If you want to kill an over the air signal that's how you do it. I've tried a half-dozen of these booster things with virtually no benefit, and honestly I was hesitant to buy another one. I'm familiar with the Channel Master brand, so I rolled the dice and decided to give it a try. I was ready to accept failure once more, and was startled that my reception increased by 40%, maybe 50%! Signal strength for existing channels and I'm now receiveing channels that I didn't know existed. I changed nothing with my antenna or conditions. I simply added this to the antenna line that feeds three TV's and plugged it in. It works great! I'm very surprised. Now I'm an electrician so installing this was easy for me, and in reality if you have an electrical outlet that can be used to power it, and are capable of attatching the TV co-ax cables, this is an easy installation. If you need someone to help you, don't hesitate, it's an easy install for someone who is versed in such things. This is an easy 5 stars. I'm still surprised and very pleased at how well this Channel Master Booster works. I didn't think it could be done.

Works great
Best pre amp yet out of 4 brands I have used. Cheaper ones won't allow a signal with out power or just quits working. If the signal is strong enough this still works unplugged / no power. Heavy built not cheap plastic.

absolutely did not work for me
Prior to installing this preamp, I was getting 136 channels on my HDHomeRun. Not all 136 channels were watchable though. I'm roughly 35-50 miles away from the towers. Reception mapping tools online show my reception will be "fair" or "weak" on basically all channels. My antenna is a Range Xperts Long Range antenna. I have a relatively short cable run (about 25ft) inside to the HDHomeRun. First, I'll note you need an extra coax cable than what comes with this kit. It includes 1 coax cable, but since you need to use their powered splitter, it requires another cable. I had to order a new cable just to try this preamp. Anyway, I installed it as the instructions show and did a scan. I got 20 channels with high gain. I switched it to low gain and got around 40 channels. All the channels I tried with the preamp were glitchy, even the ones that were solid before. Side note: the LED indicator light is supposed to change from green (low gain) to red (high gain) but mine stayed green. I noticed another review that mentioned the same. I tried researching my issue and the only conclusion I came to was that this preamp adds too much gain to my signal and overwhelms the HDHomeRun tuner. This doesn't make a lot of sense since the signal strength is only "fair" for most channels. Maybe the definition of "fair" is too vague. It'd be helpful if the manufacturer specified the conditions when it's appropriate to use this preamp. Not only is it expensive, but it typically takes most people a lot of time to add or change their antenna setup considering when done right, they are high off the ground and not easily accessible. Based on other reviews, this preamp seems to work for the most part. However, it obviously didn't work for me and in fact, made my reception way worse. I wish other reviewers would list important details, like how far their towers are, their cabling setup, etc. I sent this back for a refund.

Improved reception
I was able to receive 5 channels using my new Clearstream outdoor antenna however two of the channels from the Hamilton and Burlington ON were sketchy at times. Sometimes the signal failed due to weather conditions. Since installing the Channel Master amplifier these two channels are very consistent even during thunderstorms. All pictures are extremely clear. I am also able to get a sixth channel from Toronto ( City TV) even though the strength of the signal is rather weak according to the channel strength indicator. Weather does play havoc with the City TV station. Very pleased with the Channel Master amplifier and new antenna. Using the outdoor antenna and Channel Master at my Park Model RV in a park with numerous mature trees limiting access to a clear path to pick up TV signals.
