Does this converts 50hz to 60hz as well?

Support 50HZ and 60HZ, but do not support the conversion of 50HZ to 60HZ

I have a european (italian) appliance that is 220-240v rated, 50hz, 1.7amps, and .33kw....is the 2000w step-up converter sufficient?

Yes,this 2000W transformer is enough

Both 50 Hz and 60 Hz are supported

Any chance this is a pure sin wave?

It is a transformer (not an inverter); if the input is a pure wave, then the output will be a good approximation to a pure sine wave. Of course, mains power supply is rarely a pure sine wave.
