Worked on my VIOFO a229 pro dashcam very minimal tools needed to install had to use a different fuse from the one my car takes as the slots were recessed.

At first everything worked just fine but the product itself (no power) did not last 2 months for me. I had to revert back to the cigarette adapter. *update, Great customer service. A replacement of the defective unit is on the way and will be installed.

The installation of this went fairly smoothly, though the fuse puller provided is useless on the tiny fuses that my car uses. 90% of my install time was spent contorting myself under the dash, struggling to pull a teeny little fuse that was wedged in with about 50 others in my fuse panel. The fuse puller provided works on all other sizes of fuses, but is useless on those! Once I got that little sucker pulled, the rest went smoothly. I'm glad to have this installed so my dashcam can record 24/7. This would have been a very easy install (and a 5-star review) if an appropriate fuse puller had been provided.

I have wired a lot of things into vehicles. Made my own harnesses, spliced into factory wire when I have to, solder and heat shrink, etc. this product is high quality, comes with everything you need to wire into any vehicle. I had my dash cam wired in about 10 minutes. It took me longer to take off panels where I wanted to run the wire than it did to install the product.

Everything I needed was included to hard-wire a dash cam to the cars fuse box. The kit comes with several sizes of connectors that will replace a standard fuse in the fuse box with an adapter that will allow the original fuse to protect that circuit and a second fuse to protect the dash cam wiring. The 12v to 5v converter is an integral part of the kit as are the long wires that will likely be suitable for even the biggest car. There is even a plastic tool for easing apart interior trim to run the wire for a practically invisible installation.

Update: customer service did ended up sending a new one which is working better will update again after a month or two to see if it is still working Original: Very upset at this manufacturer. They do not list any contact information to receive support. Bought the unit March 22 of 25 and it lasted less than 1 month. It intermittently turns off whenever you hit a small bump in the road. Multiple reviews of this. They say it is version 2 but seems they have not fixed the underlying issue of reliability. It also damaged my screen that I had it powering which only requires 1 amp of power and this states it supplies 2amps.

This ended up working out well. I just about returned it at first because I thought it wasn’t working, but it turns out the low-voltage cut off had turned off power to the dash cam. After starting the car and charging the battery up to a higher voltage, the unit works fine. It comes with everything needed, and the fuse taps work well. One negative is the fuses that come with it are pretty cheap and one of them had the pins break off while installing.

The quality seems good, I felt the value for money was pretty good. It was very easy to install. The problem is it is not compatible with my new dash cam I need a 3 lead hardwire kit, this only has 2 leads. There is plenty of wire to be able to hide it under trim so that it is not blocking the driver’s sight at all.

Went without a hitch

No issues using this or installing it. It has been running a dash cam in my van for months now. I had a power connection by the fuse box under the dash, so the (what I assume is) the power converter box is inside my dash ty-wrapped to a dash support frame away from the fuse box (no interference) and away from the dash ducting (away from heat and cold).
