Do you need the card reader to use these security cards or do they work just like regular security keys?

They are compatible with most readers (but not all) under windows, and it uses NFC communication. For example, you can use it on iphone as a security card as of IOS 16.3 without any reader. (please place the card at the back and at the top of the phone, where the NFC antenna is)

How do I link it to my iphone 11?

HI, Iphone support NFC communication as of Version 7. Iphone 11 can perfectly work with Cryptnox NFC cards, you have to tap it at the back on the upper top when prompted
