I would like to thank, Pete and Alexandra at Moonster products, because the leather journal that I bought from you was just perfect. I bought it as a present for my partner, who like myself, loves all things vintage/antique or as though they come from another time... and also have a great love of handcrafted items that have been made with love. This journal is beautiful... it is wonderfully rustic and the leather is beautifully soft, as though it has been worn in for years. It also has the lovely scent of real leather. We love the slightly distressed look of the natural leather and it only made it look more gorgeous and handmade. The tie is very strong and will last. The paper within is lovely, handmade, quality paper, of a creamy tint, which can be written on with a fountain/ink dipping pen, as well as any other kind of writing pen or pencils. My partner had always wanted one of these type of journals and I am very glad that I chose this one... it really is perfect and he is beyond pleased with it, he takes it everywhere he goes.. so he can write in it, when he is inspired. He couldn't believe that I had found one that was so 'him'.. and so beautiful. This is a small family company and I feel that they take real care over each product... and I'm very happy to recommend them. I would definitely buy from them again in a heartbeat. After receiving my package I opened up the book and instantly noticed the leather smell you get with genuine leather. I knew that for this price it was going to be great. Opening the book I felt that the paper had this very historic look and feel to it; quality was there 100%. I'm journaling my Kendo practice days in this notebook using my Lamy Safari fountain-pen, and I would say that it's doing it's job of absorbing the ink well enough. Though I've seen that if there's a little too much ink, some bleeding does take place. I recommend that you get a drier ink if you're going to use fountain pens. I'm a little OCD so I'll probably end up buying another one for my JinHao X750 fountain pen which has a more wetter ink to test if it'll be suitable for this notebook. The only critique I have is that there should really be some sort of flat cardboard or something to help the front/covers maintain that book feel. It's not flimsy per-say but it does feel like it's headed that way, there's no proper stability or sturdiness that it could have --It's not hardcovered. Otherwise, the craftsmanship is there, the leatherbound on the book so far is very good. It feels handmade and you're actually told this when you receive that package; they provide you a years guarantee along with a little tag to suggest it's been handmade. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to journal, take notes, brainstorm a story or any general-purpose use of a notebook.

What a beautiful book and it's so tactile, the leather is so soft to touch, I feel like I need to take Calligraphy to compliment the lovely book, this book was better than I expected.

This is a very good, solidly constructed notebook. It looks like it will take a fair amount of heavy usage from stuffing in bags, etc. I like its rustic handmade look, and its feel of "comfortable solidity". The pages fall open readily, which really matters in a bound notebook, but it still feels that it will hold together well. The wrap-around cover is made of tough stuff and will be excellent protection from life's hazards, spillages, etc. The recycled cotton paper is probably an acquired taste, but I acquired it very easily. It is a bit like writing on bank-notes, but the paper is strong and of a good thickness (I think it says 125gsm). I am a fountain pen user and I have found the paper works well with all of the pens I've tried, although it doesn't get the best out of all the nibs. It definitely works with all of them, it's just a matter of taste and how heavy you want your up-strokes to be. It works with gel pens too. No discernible bleed into the paper or show-through on the other side. Before purchasing I spent a lot of time looking at a wide range of note-books. This one is practical and has immense character. It may not be elegant, but I think that's the point. It's a tough companion for all those ideas that crop up in the day, or night. It's a good size, as many I looked at were significantly larger (harder to pack), or much smaller, which made them appear very thick. I would buy another, when the time comes.

Bought for myself lovely journal, well made. Wanted a refillable notebook for work. Sadly had to return as it can't be refilled. Customer services were good when I contacted them regarding this. Would recommend either for self or a gift

I've owned a fair few leather-bound journals in my time, and I can say that these are by far one of the best I've written in. Everything about them screams high-end luxury, from the quality leather, premium paper, excellent workmanship, and even the wonderful smell you get from opening the package for the first time. I would recommend one of these journals as a gift to anyone who enjoys writing, whether it's one who takes notes often as part of their job, someone who keeps a diary or journal, or even someone like myself, who likes to keep an authentic-feeling notebook when they're Dungeon Master-ing games of Dungeons & Dragons. I heartily recommend purchasing a quality fountain pen to write in it with, if you (or the intended recipient, if a gift) don't already own one. At the risk of hijacking my own review, Parker do a few nice and reasonably inexpensive pens, such as the Vector (though keep an eye on the flow of ink, as both of mine are a bit heavy and can smudge if you're too quick turning the page after writing). It's definitely worth also mentioning that Moonster Products Ltd might well be one of the best companies I've ever dealt with in terms of customer services. They're prompt, courteous, and one-hundred percent dedicated to no-questions, customer-comes-first service. And the icing on the cake? Whenever you buy a Moonster product, you're donating to a very, very good cause. So, to round it all off, these journals are worth every penny, not only in themselves as a premium product, but also in supporting a family business with beautiful business ethics, and in helping a worthwhile charity.

È davvero un bellissimo quaderno. L’esterno è in cuoio anticato, e la chiusura è assicurata dal laccetto che gira una volta e mezza intorno alle copertine. Nel mio non si sente odore di cuoio, poiché non sono un esperto non attribuisco un giudizio sulla qualità dello stesso.. tuttavia visivamente ha un enorme fascino e fa figura. Le pagine interne sono porose, credo derivate dal cotone: per me che adoro scrivere con la mia stilografica è una manna. Consiglio sinceramente l’acquisto di questo oggetto. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, ben realizzato, fascinoso, originale, e sembra provenire da un’altra epoca. Servizio Amazon perfetto.
