This workbook contains contains supplemental grammatical exercises for each of the 133 lectiones (lessons) in Familia Romana (Lingua Latina Pars I). Hans Ørberg’s Lingua Latina per se illustrata is the world’s premiere series for learning Latin via the Natural Method. Students learn grammar and vocabulary intuitively through extended contextual reading and an innovative system of marginal notes, giving students the opportunity to learn Latin without resorting to translation. Further information on Familia Romana and all titles in this widely adopted series can be be found at www.hackettpublishing.com. Review: Satisfied - I am fully satisfied with the product, the placing of the order and the delivery to my home. Review: Excellent supplement to have! - This workbook is definitely recommended if you're learning via the Lingua Latina method. Each chapter has many exercises that truly help to practice the information that you've learned in the chapter. The exercises are also broken up by the lessons in the book: so the chapter will have a set of exercises for lesson/section one, two, and three; along with an exercise for the grammar section. My only complaints about this book are: there isn't too much room to write your answers, but I have been able to manage and I usually write fairly big. My other complaint is that for the exercises in which you form your own sentences, the answer key in the teacher's manual doesn't give the answers. I have however found that you can just type what you've written into translate and decide for yourself if you've answered the question correctly. I have found that this book has implemented what I have learned perfectly, I often find that the exercises are thought-provoking but easy. I highly recommend it to anyone using the series, it's definitely a huge benefit to your learning.

Worth every penny!
My experience with the Lingua Latīna family of Latin learning materials is that I found Familia Rōmāna at a used bookstore for $10 and bought it on a whim, knowing nothing about the Ørberg method. I was immediately enthralled by the ease with which I could comprehend the sentences on the page and how intuitive the reading felt: I was understanding words I have never looked up and for which there weren't really many accompanying images! (Granted, being a native English speaker I did recognize quite a lot of cognates...). My momentum didn't last too long as I got into the later chapters, where, while the immersion reading method continued, the amount of new words and new grammatical constructions seemed to increase exponentially. In order to retain any of this I spent painstaking hours copying/typing every word from the Capitula and accompanying Pensa -- down to the macron! This was slow, tedious work. Poking around on the internet for additional Latin learning resources I stumbled upon other Lingua Latīna Per Sē Illūstrāta books, e.g. (Pars I) Exercitia Latīna I. I have gone back to the beginning of Familia Rōmāna and am working my way through it again while completing the Exercitia in Exercitia Latīna I. This workbook provides SO many opportunities to practice the grammatical structures introduced in Familia Rōmāna, which is great because in the FR book itself there are only ever three Pensa at the end of each chapter. With Exercitia Latīna and the FR narrated videos on YouTube (by ScorpioMartianus), I am able to build up a solid foundation of the basics of Latin grammar and vocabulary, making each subsequent chapter more manageable, and enjoyable! The only qualm I have with it is a complaint already voiced by many of the reviewers here: There isn't a ton of room to write one's answers to the questions; however, question types which require written responses are the minority. The workbook is useful enough that I don't mind the tight format!

Want do learn latin speaking latin as soon as possible? (something like in the first page)
Great book for everyone because it teaches Latin in Latin. What I like it most is the fact that you learn the language as a live language, and not only by reading classic authors from an ancient era. But on my study I keep changing from Lingva Latina and Gramatica Latina (Prof. Napoleão Mendes de Almeida, in Portuguese), because sometimes I think it is better to know why you are doing or saying the language in a particular way. In Lingva Latina, first you learn how to speak, for later (and for me too later) learn why you say that way. Buy Lingva Latina and get satisfied up to the last cent you paid it. Bom estudo.

Latin for kids! Africa en Europa non est.
Love these books. Very appropriate for kids or adults learning Latin. It teaches the language by providing short stories made up of very short simple sentences and then works it’s way up from there.

for a 6th grade student
My son says, "It would be more helpful if I had more space to write. I think the questions are written well. It would be nice if the word section gave the meaning of the words too. Otherwise its a great book and I'm happy with it."

Great introduction to Latin. Easy to follow.
great to use with the Familia Romana Lingua Lintina text book. Going through it, it seems like trick questions, but the book is really trying to push you to read the side notes and foreword to make sure you are understanding what you are doing and not just using educated guesses. Very well thought out. I can see where it comes from! In Latin, here is no word for "no"! That means you have to repeat everything in the negative form when an answer is "no". What a tedious and annoying way of making your way through life, but that's one heck of a way to make sure you heard the request and your "no" has been though over! Great language and a lot of fun!

Strongly recommended as a companion to Lingua Latina
Samples of simple exercises to go along with Lingua Latin per se Illustrata. I read the whole book before getting the exercise book. Doing even the first few exercises corrected some mistakes I was making. So if you're reading LLPSI, you really should get this book and do the exercises along with the corresponding chapters in LLPSI. Each section of exercises it marked with the corresponding pages/chapter in LLPSI, making finding the right pages easy.
