Will this work attached to a water butt?

We use ours from an outside tap with a timer. I would have thought that a water butt being at a height for gravity to force the water through the system would work until the water butt was empty or the pressure was not sufficient enough to force the water through the system.

I have a tall pot (50cm tall). Will the water in the pipe climb to the top of the pot if the rest of the pipes are at ground level?

If you've got reasonable water pressure and only got half a dozen spray heads or so plumbed in, then it will be fine as long as its near the beginning of the run. If it's the last nozzle in the run it might struggle.

Can we buy extra pipe easily?

I haven't procured any additional piping myself, but it looks, via a quick search, you can. Search for 1/4" or 6mm micro irrigation pipe. The kit refers to 1/4" and I have done a quick calculation into MM which is a bout 6mm, but please check. There appears to be plenty out there. If you are looking for the larger bore pipe, I actually used an old normal garden hose to extend the backbone, that works well. Hope that helps.
