Product worked as described
This product works as described. I recommend , if you decide to go this route , buy a good stud finder. Make sure you drill a small exploratory hole to make sure you hit the stud and when you do , then use the 1/8" drill to make the adequate size hole for the screw. Also, and this is important , make sure the screw and jig are perfectly vertical so as to not cause added resistance . I eliminated 5 squeaks using 5 screws. Matching the wood puddy is crucial for hiding the screw holes.

Hallelujah, it worked
Praise the heavens above this actually worked. I had to use two screws but it worked. I had already crawled under my crawl space and put probably eight screws in going from the side of the joist into the subfloor while my friend was upstairs jumping up and down on the floor and the squeak never went away So I tried these things and I had to use two but the first one stopped it mostly and the second went about 6 in away stopped it completely I followed the directions I drilled a little hole first stuck a paper clip down and then actually went under my house to see where that hole was that I measured and knew to move over 1 and 3/4 in to where the middle of the joist was. Then I follow the directions and put two screws in right into the middle of the joist where this week was happening. And now I can jump up and down on this thing and it is quiet. Now I can sneak in and out of the house without anyone knowing ๐ The picture shows three holes before I filled them with any putty, which it does not come with by the way you'll have to find some at home Depot that matches your floor, the first hole was the one to find the joist, and the second two are right in line on the joist where I put in the screws

Works great in the right situation
I used this to quiet squeaky stairs. It worked great in this situation because the screw could be placed through the tread into the riser. It did not work for the floor boards though because the planks are too thin and the squeaks are not over floor joists.

Beware: Doesn't work on softer wood
I have American Cherry floors and OSB underlayment. Product worked great when I tested it on a 2x4 in my garage. On the actual floor the screw does not grab the softer/less dense floor and underlayment hard enough to twist off the head. The screw just continues to spin. I could not even get it to snap off as it is designed to twist off. I was really looking forward to this working. I am sure it is a great idea on more dense floors or plywood underlayment.

Outstanding product
Incredible. 96 year old house with original hardwood floors, squeaking could be heard throughout the whole home. This product reduced the sounds of the squeaking by about 80%. I've been trying to solve this issue for ages, had two different flooring contractors in who said the only option was to lay down new floors and tear up the old, $10k job right there. $20 bucks on this product and nearly perfect. Whoever invented this is a genius, hats off. Easy install as long as you have a decent drill and 1/8" bit. Get some wood putty from the hardware store and you'll be good to go in 20 minutes.

No
This is a last ditch option, you are 100% going to destroy the aesthetic of your hard wood floors with 1/8 holes it does slightly dampen noise if you find the stud. Is the juice worth the squeeze? In most cases probably not. I regret it big time and now have committed to new floors.

Awesome product that fixed my squeaky stairs!
This product is amazing! My house has a 115-year-old staircase whose squeaks are loud enough to wake the dead. I was researching options online, and even contemplating ripping all the basement drywall off to get at the stairs from underneath, when I found this product. While it is designed for floors (I think) it works just as well for stairs. The key is to get the nails into the stringers (the wood that supports the entire staircase). For each step, I put one nail in each side of the stringer, and then also one nail into the riser on the front of the stair in the center of the step. This worked really well, and solved 90-95% of the stair's squeaks! It's an old staircase so it won't ever be perfectly silent, but it's a HUGE improvement. I did end up with two nails that didn't get far enough in before they broke, and that was a bit of a hassle to fix, but since it stopped my stairs from squeaking, I'm not too upset. I used a Dremel cutting bit to remove the excess screw from the stairs and then puttied over the hole. The screws are pretty neat in how they work and I was impressed at how small the hole left behind was (see photo)! You can see the puttied holes from the nail holes, but my stairs are far from perfect already given their age, so it's fine with me. If you put more effort than I did into finding an exact stain color match, I bet you could just about completely hide all evidence of the nail holes. Suggestions: -Use a smaller bit than 1/8" - I used the next size down -Use the "soft wood" method - this gives you more control over when the screw breaks so you have less chance of it breaking early and ending up with the nail sticking out of the floor -When you pre-drill the pilot hole, make sure you are actually drilling into the stringer/joist. If you aren't, then the screw isn't going to do anything to fix the squeaks. It needs to grab onto the stringer/joist in order to tighten the floor. I could actually hear my staircase "creaking" as the screw did its work tightening everything up. -You'll need wood putty and a stain/paint color to touch up the floor with after

Wow! Cannot believe how fast this fixed my problem
WIthin 15 minutes of opening the package the squeaking in a problematic area of my hardwood floors was fixed. By fixed I mean 95-98% quieter. It's quieter than other parts of the floor that I consider mostly quiet. I watched several videos on Youtube the night before the kit arrived and that helped quite a bit. I basically knew exactly what do and what to look for before I started. Highly recommend you do the same. Also recommend using a paperclip to test your initial small holes hits the joist. I did not have a paperclip but got by with a toothpick for testing. Hit the joist on my second attempt - measured 16" from there and hit paydirt again with another joist. 3 screws and that puppy was fixed!

product works well if you find the joists

I wanted to try and fix the squeaky floors on our hardwood. The product arrived very promptly and delivered as advertised. The first screw I tried did not snap off and subsequently, I drilled too deep and now the screw is stuck in the plastic guide.

Used about 10 screws. 2 broke off above the surface of my hardwood flooring. PITA to fix. You might want to use a slightly bigger drill bit than recommended. Aside from that seems to resolve my squeaking issues and a good idea overall.

Screws did what they claim.
