Works for me, no irritation, natural looking, easy to use
I gave it a good value for the money because it worked for me & didn't cause any skin irritation. My wife is quite a bit younger than me & my beard was mostly grey (quite white actually), with a bit of dark brown still in the mustached and a little bit between the chin & lower lip. My hair is still a dark brown, but about an inch of grey at the temples. I've had a beard since I was 18, with only relatively brief periods of time where it was shaved off. I tried Just For Men, but it caused my face to turn red, itch & get little pussy blisters under the beard that would not heal for days. Totally gross. Tried & tried doing different things to try avoiding that (less time, putting aloe on it right after cleaning it off, cleaning it off with & without soap, etc. At some point I tried powered walnut husks, which seemed to add more color to my skin than to my beard, so I stopped that quick. I also looked into henna, but based on what I'd read, I passed. Eventually saw an article that suggested alternatives for more sensitive skin, so I tried "Clairol Naturals" which actually caused the lower half of my face to swell up bizarrely. Fortunately, the wife is a nurse, so she ran out right away for Benadryl & kept an eye on me to see if we'd have to run to the emergency room. After that experience, I went all natural grey/white, but would temporary cover it with some sort of root coverup thing from Sally Beauty supply whenever I went out with the wife, but was always worried about winding up pulling a Giuliani & having it run down my face. In any event, my wife kept bugging me to shave the beard because I'd leave it white at home. Finally, I told her give me some time to try some other stuff and if it doesn't work, I'll shave it. Looked around a bit more & found this mentioned along with the Just For Men shampoo stuff (which I was leery of trying given my experience with the regular stuff). Was going to order both, along with a box of baking soda $0.77, just to reach free shipping at $25, but accidentally wound up accepting the "free" month of prime, so I removed the baking soda & the shampoo because I figured I could get free shipping on the shampoo if I order in a month if this didn't work out. Naturally, they were out of "dark brown" by the time I decided to order, so I heck with it & ordered the regular "brown" & figured if that seemed to work, I could always go darker (my hair is a dark brown). In any event, I received it on Thursday (3 days ago) and today is 3 days later (Sunday) when the picture was taken. FIRST SESSION: On Friday, at about 9 pm, I did just the dye for the full 30 mins (perhaps 35) and started watching a "free" movie on my "free" Prime while waiting the 30 mins, then cleaned it off in the sink. It smells "earthy", to me a bit like spinach or perhaps a compost pile, but that really isn't a horrid smell or anything. Reminded me of creamed spinach as I was washing it off. I did notice a bit of a greenish tint, with a little brown/light yellow added in, but it was very, very light, not a heck of a lot of color added. Finished the movie & thought it looked a bit darker by the time I went to bed. Woke up 7:30 am Saturday & thought it looked a darker than when I went to bed, but it still pretty darn light & the greenish tint remained. SECOND SESSION: Saturday (around 1:30 pm), I said heck with this, I'll try another dose. This time I did the base for 30 mins, or so. Looks & smells the same as the dye & watched another free Prime video to pass the time. Cleaned up & noticed that already it was a bit darker after applying the base, but still a light green tint. Did the dye right after for another 30 mins & watched some more of the free Prime movie. Like before, it did appear to get darker after some time passed. But, I had church to go to the next morning, so ... THIRD SESSION Saturday night (around 8pm) did another 30 min base treatment, followed by another 30 min dye treatment, including more free Prime watching. After rinsing it off, I was already impressed & figured it would be fine in the morning. When I was young, my beard was always a bit lighter than my hair and ranged from a bit lighter brown than my hair, to parts that had a bit of a reddish tone to the brown, to a bit that was almost a dirty blond color. So, in the end, I thought the regular brown worked pretty darn good. I'm happy with it & the wife likes it too, now just have to what the girlfriend thinks (just kidding). FWIW- I used it up at my temples & the little portion above my ears that is white & that wound up getting darker quicker than my beard & looks really natural with my hair. I also used a bit on my eyebrows because I have a tiny bit of grey in those. I don't know if I'll try the dark brown at another time, or just keep with this. I seem to recall reading one review where the guy just mixed the two packets of powders together and just used them as a single treatment. I might give that a whirl, although I've seen others say that they didn't need the base after a while. PS, I just rinsed the sink off & cleaned up what I slopped on the counter & saw no staining, like someone suggested. I also saw no staining of my skin and I wound up slopping it on pretty good (with the last application going up the sides to about my nose because I was debating on letting the stubble grow (instead of chopping the beard down between the sideburns & the mustache like I usually do).

It really, really works!
When I was a little boy, there used to be this commercial for something that ended with some obnoxious kid saying: “…and it really really works!”. It was one of those catch phrases, that you couldn’t get out of your mind, and became part of our cultural lexicon for a little while, sort of like: “Where’s the beef?”, and “I fell and I can’t get up!” (both of which, by the way have been trademarked!). Anyway, ever since then, in the rare moments when I purchase something and it really does what it says it’s going to do… I find myself repeating that line. And yes, when it came to this herbal beard dye, I found myself shouting it in my bathroom mirror more than once. I have always hated shaving but having fast growth on my face, it was a morning ritual. I also have sensitive skin so went through dozens of different creams, lotions, razors, etc., trying not to deal with an itchy face all day. So recently when I got an assignment that would take me “into the wilds” as they say, I finally was able to live a life-long dream of becoming, at least for a while, the mountain man, Jeremiah Johnson. And what’s a mountain man without a beard? I had one in my youth, ironically since I looked so young I wanted to age myself… and in those days, even though I have brown hair, the beard came out red. There’s lots of red hair folks in my family. It was really kind of cool. So, forgetting that many, many years have gone by since then, I started to let it grow again, and soon discovered that instead of red, I was growing a white Christmas. So, I was less Robert Redford and more Grizzly Adams! I never thought of using hair dye on a beard. There’s just too many horror stories about what those chemicals can do to you. And worse yet are the chemical over-the-counter dyes for beards. Being that the chemicals are in much more contact with your skin, they do much more damage, including many cancer scares. But an old friend, who is a herpetologist and naturalist, told me that there were actually some natural herbs that mixed together can create a harmless oxidation of your hair follicles without any harm to skin or health. She recommend this product. Of course I was dubious, but the price was right, and she assured me that the worst thing that could happen is that it will not work at all, or perhaps give my beard a green tinge, which I could easily shave off. Yes, as other reviewers have said, once you mix the green powder, it does smell a lot like day-old asparagus, or wet lawn clippings that you still have not raked up in your backyard, but hey, that’s a natural smell after all. Not like the toxic smell you get from the other hair dyes, that make you think that any moment a group of Hazmat workers in full helmeted white uniforms will be crashing through your door to “clean up” the “spill” then scrub you within an inch of your life like Karen Silkwood. The instructions are well written, and very simple actually. As the instructions say, since this is a natural herb mixture and not a chemical dye, you don’t see results right away. You leave the stuff on your face to dry for about fifteen minutes, and then wash it off in the shower. No stinging, or any other side effects. The instructions say that it will slowly oxidize and in about a day or so, you will start to see a natural darkening. You can get either brown or black (I got brown). And yes, overnight, I did see that my beard went from “winter wonderland”, to “amber waves of grain”. And as the instructions said, it does continue to darken. But the best part is somehow it doesn’t come off as a Ronald Reagan dye job. It looks totally natural. The coloration is slightly shaded around the beard, and there’s even a slight hit of the natural gray, but it all works to make it look like this is the real beard, and yes, it does shed years off your appearance. You need to redo it every month or so, but again, you’re dealing with lawn shavings here, so what harm is there? Now, here is another bit of news. And again, this may not work for everyone, so be careful. I'm not recommending it, just letting you know my own personal experience... however, I wrote to the company with what I thought was a “silly” question. I have some gray on my head-hair as well, and wondered since this works on a beard, is there any way I could use it on my head-hair as well? I do see there are other “natural” products for that out there, but I just like this stuff, and feel safe with it. They wrote back right away and said, no, it wasn’t a silly question at all, and yes, it will work and is safe to use on your head-hair as well. So, I tried it. Now the mixture for the beard was done thicker, about the consistency of ketchup, but that is too thick to spread evenly and deeply on my head-hair, so I added more water, and made it more the consistence of whole milk. I then wet my hair, and rubbed it through my hair, and then combed it in with a brush as well, to get down to the roots. I kept that in for fifteen minutes, and washed it out in the shower. Again, you may want to test this on a little part of your hair before trying it, since everyone’s hair has different reactions to anything… but in my case, it worked beautifully. I have to admit that I have used the over-the-counter chemical stuff a few times, and I found that it was damaging my hair, but this worked like a conditioner. My hair actually looks and feels thicker, and like the beard, it gives it a very natural darkening, and the gray does disappear. So, okay, men… if you are not brave enough to walk into the outside world with a gray beard… and still want to try and capture a few more years of less-than-middle-age appearance, and also not use the chemical dyes that make you look like someone who wears socks with their sandals, and still carries a fanny-pack… try this. Yes, again: “it really, really works!”

Never ending green tint
I really hoped this product would work because like so many others, Just For Men left me with chemical burns. Here is my experience with the product. I have a salt and pepper beard with more salt then pepper. First time I applied the product for 30 minutes in the evening as recommended. Next morning there was little coloring other than a slight greenish tint. I tried the product again, same as before and the same results except for slight darkening of greenish tint. For the third attempt, I used the organic base and per the instructions, kept it on for 30 minutes followed immediately with 30 minutes of dye. Next morning I could see some brown appearing but the green tint was more pronounced. I emailed the support and the response was to try the dye again for 30 minutes but this time wrap my face (beard area) with Saran Wrap and leave it on for 30 mins. The next morning the color was definitely darker but still had a noticeable green tint. So, I repeated the same process and the color was getting where I wanted it to be which was medium brown. Unfortunately, no matter how much darker the color got, so did the green tint. The support department no longer responded to my emails for help. Hopefully this problem won’t occur for you but for me, the product just doesn’t work. On a positive note for others, the product does not dye your skin.

No Allergic Reaction and Natural Looking
I've used a number of other products over the past 10 years, and they've been fine (albeit somewhat unnatural looking). But I was satisfied. Then within the past year I started having severe allergic reactions. I tried three different brands including ones that claimed they were hypo-allergenic. No. It was burning my skin. So I came across Grizzly Mountain. NO REACTION. This dye is not without its challenges - basically it takes longer to do than the others. They were 5-10 minutes and into the shower. This takes 30 minutes, and if you have to use their organic pre-dye (if you have a coarse beard), it's another 30 minutes. But all-in-all, taking an hour out of 1 day every 1-2 weeks is not bad. The product works, and it actually does look MUCH more natural than the others.

looks the most natural of any brand i have seen or tried, worth the hassle of application
so, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Grey hair sucks. It makes you look old, it makes you look unkempt, it makes you look like a boomer. This brand is the end to all that. I have coarse, grey facial hair. Like, Santa white grey. It is wiry. It is unmanageable. So one day my wife said to me, have you ever thought about colouring your beard? I noticed after she colours her hair, it is soft and silky and manageable and just all around more pleasant, so i said, sure let's try it out. Just for Men was the classic, so I tried it. Burned the @#$%^ out of my face and I looked like I had been pimp slapped while on holiday in Ibarra. I was red, it was painful, it got icky with blisters. Not a good time was had. Fast forward to after healing (and shaving) for around 6 months. I started to grow the old Castro out again and the wife mentioned again about colouring it. I was going to throw something at her when she told me she had seen an all natural product on Amazon and I should try it. Being the good husband that I am, I didn't argue with her and instead ordered a pack while bracing myself for another chemical burn adventure. HOW WRONG I WAS! The Grizzly Mountain hair dye is not only natural, but it only itches me a tiny bit while it is sitting and doing it's job (I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin and am allergic to almost everything, so I can put on aftershave and it irritates me.) It also looks by FAR the most natural of any I have seen. I know we have all seen those bad hairpieces and hair dye jobs. You know, the ones where it looks like they used that spray dye they used to advert on the tele late at night. This ain't that. Do yourself a favour and get a pack and try it out. I will say that the dark brown is just that, DARK brown. The reg brown is the more common colour, and the light brown is almost a dark reddish blonde, so choose accordingly. I first tried the dark brown and it was unnatural on me, whereas the reg brown is a perfect match. I love getting the questions at work of "did you get your hair cut or something?" when I use it. It is something I need to do to upkeep about twice a month, and yes, it smells like fresh cut garden or spinach or whatever green smell you relate to, but it does not stick around, and the colour does darken and de-green overnight and into the next day, so don't do this the day of a night out, unless it is Halloween. The TL;DR is::::get it, it works, you'll enjoy it and buy more later.

Ditch the chemical dyes give this a try
This is a good natural dye. I have tried the dark brown and natural lighter brown. I do not use the base just the dye itself. It does have a natural chlorophyll green type of smell when you make it and apply it, it can linger slightly, but it's nothing bad. There are two things I don't particularly like, overtime the color can start to look unnatural, with a tinge of purple. I also asked if I could just order the dye from this company and they refused. For being environmentally conscious that's a lot of base to waste (2 orders). It would be nice if they offered a cheaper option for choosing either the base or the dye as well as to keep their kits. Applying the dye is easy, as mentioned apply for about 30 minutes. It can take a couple days for the color to fully set in, and yes gray hairs can look slightly green. Perhsps using the base would solve the latter purplish tones. With the green, I don't find it to noticeable, or bothersome. I like how the dye does set in though. There is a point as mentioned where it starts to look different, and it's most noticeable in the sun. I haven't pinpointed how long it takes for that to happen. I cannot say that it happens every time I use the dye either. It would be nice to have a blend that is between the dark brown and regular brown as I find one too dark and one too light as well. The color choices could certainly work good for a lot of men, I just thinking in between would be even more natural looking. I think there could definitely be improvements to this product and service as it has the potential for a 5-star rating. Overall, it's still a good dye that I will likely continue to use. It beats using chemicals any day.

This is great actually. I was using "just for burns and ...
This is great actually. I was using "just for burns and weeping sores" for about a year and every time I used JFM during the first night i would get the bad irritation, scratch until i wept (both from the eyes and the chin) and would continue to scratch for 3-5 days until i finally had enough and shaved the beard off. Worth it, yes kind of, because i hate being full grey at 39, worth the pain, no. So I looked at this product randomly, and read a lot of 1-star reviews and was put off. Nobody seemed to post a picture reel, especially the 5-star people who raved about it with no evidence. I therefore decided to do my own including pictures. The first two pictures are my start point, there is some residual just for burns, sorry, men... On my beard so it's not as white as a complete re-grow but it is white-ish (the sores on my face are from the JFM application 5 days ago. I followed the instructions, it comes with a brush but i actually used the JFM tray and brush. I used the recommended 2 heaped teaspoons and hot tap water and made a sludge. Some people say is smells bad, it kind of does but it's not as bad as some sensitive-nosed souls make it out to be. The second two pictures are my application. Yes I looked like a swamp monster and i did get a little nervous at this point, but left it for the full 30 minutes. I applied a THICK coat, and as it dried it got stiff so belly-laughing would have probably hurt, which i was close to given everyone around me laughing and calling me swampy. I washed it off with warm soapy water and that is shown in the 5th and 6th pictures immediately after. It had a very slight green tinge but nothing to worry about. Waking up this morning and getting to work are the final pictures. I think it's excellent. I didn't get irritated once. I didn't scratch during the night. It was easy to do, it smelled OK and it's cheap (per application) and honestly i think it looks more natural than JFM. So for all you people looking to use for the first time, for sure read the one-star reviews as i'm sure their experience was genuine and it didn't work for them. But also don't let that put you off buying it, it's cheap enough to give it a crack, and if it works for you like it did me, no more skin irritation. If it doesn't work first time, then i'd say persevere, there's enough powder to do many many applications. It says to do again in 4-5 days so i'll try and post an update then. But after 16 hours, i'll very pleased. Thank you Grizzly mountain ;)

A week later - Updated and Final review
Here is my updated review...and honestly, I wish it had ended better. The reviews that state this natural color makes your beard green are 100% true. The instructions even go on to state this is a normal part of the process, but that it goes away a few hours later. Welp, here I am a week later, and green is still the dominant color! Of course, I mostly chalk this up to a curse cast upon me by a witch many, many years ago, but still, I was hopeful to be spared this particular embarrassment. I pretty much wasted an entire holiday weekend stuck inside, because I was too embarrassed to venture into public with my green beard, and no way was I going to cut it off. Why 2 stars and not 1 you may ask? Well, for one, this is all natural, and VERY easy to apply. No adverse reactions whatsoever, and honestly, other than the green tinge (did I mention it causes a green TINGE, and not a neon green?), this stuff actually does work. Sure, it smells like those weird green superfood powders (I know because I've tried them), very Wheatgrass-like, but other than that, I'm going to give this another shot. I like the all natural aspect, because I can deal with the green hue much more than I'm willing to deal with facial chemical burns. For the blokes out there who's green color disappears after the expected 24-48 hours...hats off to you! For me (and obviously some others), for whom the green decided it was damn well staying without paying rent...no thanks! The saving grace for me, was my wife took matters into her own hands, brought me some dark brown women's hair color, and $7.99 and 10 minutes later my beard was SAVED! Sorry Grizzly Mountain...I really wanted to love this product...I really did...but social anxiety and my love life took over. I wish you luck.

no irrita
Es buena alternativa de producto que no irrita. No colorea como un tinte químico, hay que tomar en cuenta eso.

Trust the process!
After trying many other products, I finally found one that works without destroying my skin! The Grizzly Mountain Dye is an excellent choice for anyone who has sensitive skin. My best advice is that you have to trust the process. Apply the paste as per the instructions. When you first rince out the paste, your beard will have a very noticeable green tint. That is okay, don't panic! It takes between 24 and 48 hours for the natural ingredients to "mature and take effect". But once it does, the color is a nice brown shade. It is best to do the application when you have a couple of days off (don't tint your beard on your wedding day! lol). Don't mix too much of it as a little goes a long way, which makes this product a very good value for the cost. I highly recommend it if you are willing to give it the time it needs!

Great for sensitive skin. Natural. Realistic looking.
Really great product! My husband has had severe skin reaction to Just for Men dye. This felt tingly on his skin but no skin rash or anything. Great for sensitive skin. He said washing it off with cool water worked better for him as it closed his pores. So no irritation. His beard is mainly grey and this coloured well it just wasn't dark enough for him and went red. So we have bought the darker shade of brown for him. We really recommend.
