New Balance Men's 577 V1 Hook and Loop

My son has cerebral palsy and needs comfortable shoes that have great support, and are easy to get into. This fits the bill. It comes in a variety of widths and we have purchased them many times. It's lightweight and durable.

Perfect fit and comfortable. I am 90 and this shoe halps me walk safely compared to cheap shoes. Easy to put on.

I find that I need a shoe with straps instead of laces, that feels comfortable, and that looks as much as possible like a black business shoe. Shoes with straps are hard to find where I live. These are all-black, have leather uppers and are fairly soft. I wear them semi-actively all day most days, or until they start feeling uncomfortable. The problem for me is that after 10 or 12 months, they start to show noticeable wear. The joint between the foot pad and the inner wall starts feeling uncomfortable after, say, 8 hours of wearing them. And the edges of the soles start to come apart around that same time. I'm probably unrealistic thinking any shoe in heavy use should last more than a year, but shelling out $80 every 15 to 16 months bothers me. Also, the tread is tight. That helps the business-like appearance, but it's hard to clean. On the whole, I don't think there's anything better for the money, but at the end of a long day it's hard to think they're perfect.

My Father has Dementia, Diabetes and Size 9 EEEE bad , hurt all the time hurts when you barely touch them feet and toes. Have been putting Merrell Velcro strap sandals (with socks because his feet look so bad) on him for two + years. Decided to try a shoe again because they are just safer and a more stable walking base for him. His instep is very high - hard to find shoes with a velcro strap closure long enough to accommodate his needs - these barely are long enough to stay connected because I cannot fasten them tightly or he complains of pain. These are all issues relative to his particular needs; however, if you have super wide fat feet, have feet /toe pain related to illness and need a shoe easy to put on and take off this is a great shoe. I searched for months for an X Tra Wide shoe that would work - without having to spend hundreds on a Disbetic shoe. I also love the neutral color I was able to choose. This most likely is his last pair of new shoes. They Are well made leather somwill last and look nice with everything he wears. He complains of pain with every step but he did that wearing sandals as well but keeps on going walking. I feel,he is safer taking those walks now.

Fit well and user friendly.

I generally wear some other new balance shoes and I love the fact that these are Velcro but they're just not as comfortable and they don't feel as good on my feet as some of the other New balance I usually get, since I can't reach my feet do some health issues and these have velcro I can just kind of easily slip them on and off as long as I don't have the velcro too tight but I like these shoes, don't love them but I do really like the velcro Honestly though they're great shoes but I do like my 608's better that are also a New balance shoe but I guess if I would never tried those and only got these I would be very happy I just don't think these are quite as comfortable or as nice to walk in

These shoes are wonderful for heavy men who don't like bending over.

For years I used to buy $10 velcro shoes at Walmart. They would start cracking at the base of the toes where they bend after a few months wear, but I would usually get a year's worth of use from them. Granted, they received pretty rough treatment from me, since they doubled as work shoes in the yard and garden, so I would get another pair that I wore in "public" when the first pair started cracking. However, the last three years or so, the thin rubber soles, that were just glued to a sort of stiff foam rubber backing, began to become unglued and flap around after only a few days or weeks of use. Determined to get a year's worth of use, duct tape, done in a certain way, accomplished that. Sort of. After a while it just got to be ridiculous. Thus my search at Amazon to find some velcro shoes of better quality. And these are it. Three months and they haven't even shown signs of cracking. Plus they clean up well. The cheapos at Walmart were made of a sort of imitation brushed leather that showed stains and scuffs easily. With the smooth surface on these, a damp cloth works wonders on heavily dusty shoes. I only have three complaints that keep this product from getting five stars: 1. As others have noted, the straps are a little short. Not really a complaint from me, just a very mild annoyance. The velcro holds much better than the cheapos, so there's that. But that is what makes it annoying since you can't easily get your finger under the strap in order to get the shoes off quickly. 2. I love that there is much more sole to this shoe, it's just that compared to the cheapos, it's like wearing high heels. (And, yes, I did have some platform shoes in the seventies.) Plus they make more noise, especially on laminate flooring. They also aren't the most comfortable shoe in the world, but, hey, I would rather go barefoot anyway. 3. The price. Not a real biggie, but I would rather have paid about $10 less for this pair of shoes. But if they continue to hold up as well as they have so far, I will definitely buy these again.
