Be aware the mat is not dual-sided. The listing says it is not dual-sided but reviews and the box it comes in state otherwise. They no longer offer a dual-sided mat. Pros: The pieces are great. Nice weight. Good size. The King weighed about 76grams. The bags for the pieces are a nice touch. The mat lays perfectly flat. You can fold the mat in the bag without worrying about creasing. The storage box is well made. You can clean the mat with soap and water without damaging it. Cons: The mat easily collects dust and debris. My mat & piece bag came with some staining that would not come clean (this may have just slipped through quality checks though). The company email on the card insert is no longer active. I contacted the company through Amazon and they were more than understanding of the issues. They stood by their warranty completely and I am satisfied with the outcome. Overall, I was initially wary about the quality of this purchase but the customer service has made me confident of their business practices and willingness to bring a quality purchase to each consumer. Conclusion: I would definitely recommend this product for purchase. It’s a good travel set without sacrificing size and weight. If you are looking for small, this is not your set. If you are looking for a display piece, this is probably not your set. If you are looking for a tournament set, this is probably the one. If you are looking for a great starter set or an upgrade to a cheap or light weight set, this is the one.

Best chess set I’ve owned. The board’s square colors are easy on the eyes, and the pieces are nicely sized and well-weighted.

Played a few games, it's fine. The weight is impressive. I wish the queen was a little larger relative to the other pieces. I hear this kind of board tends to collect little particles, but seems easy enough to clean. I like the green color. It does have a strong odor at first. Packaging is excellent and the box design is cool. Speaking of that, this was not shipped in a cardboard box, so the nice exterior box design is going to get damaged in shipping. I have a feeling the soft black and white bags will disintegrate over time, but it's convenient to hand your opponent a bag full of pieces. The black case is nice, seems sturdy, good zipper, plenty of room. Given the weight, I think the handle could be stronger, that seems like a strained point in the design. I'm not sure if the interior net is necessary, from a design standpoint, I'd rather have thicker fabric for the bags of pieces. PS: Pawn fell off the table onto wood floor and it survived ;-) 👍

Update : This set is still terrific after 2 years and it's $10 less than 2 years ago! There are some slight 'bends" in the silicone but they are not really creases and do not affect play. 2023 review: I was considering buying the Best Chess Set Ever when I found this set. It seems to be very similar (one other reviewer says it was exactly the same to the quadruple weight BCSE.) At $50, that's also $13 less than the quad BCSE and it come with a carrying case. I'm not knocking BCSE, but I like having the case instead of the box. It's a very heavy set. I have seen some people wish the pieces were heavier but personally, I don't know why. These are substantial pieces and beautiful to hold. The description says that the board is green, but it is actually two-sided, green on one side and black on the other. I like the feel of the silicone board and it isn't showing any creases at all.

These pieces are great but 1 piece did arrive broken. I glued it back together but wish I didn't have to. Otherwise everything is great!

One of the very best chess sets I have bought. It has a case that everything sat it. The pieces have a great color and the weight is very good. These are about 4 times weighted. The board lays flat. A great purchase and I would definitely recommend.

My son is so happy with the product. The silicone mat is good and the chess pcs are heavy. Satisfied with the product.
