Great little bench
I am so impressed at the quality of this little workbench. I wanted something easy to move around for small jobs rather than getting out the wooden sawhorses and plywood top. This small bench is perfect. All the bolts had their washers and nuts lightly screwed on, so assembly was easy. No hunting for the correct part. It is sturdy and folds pretty flat for storage. I could keep this behind a door in the house if needed.

It's cheap and good enough for occasional home use.
It's cheap and light, but for my occasional use, it hasn't broken or malfunctioned yet. Easily folds back up and hangs on a hook (or leans against your other garage stuff) until you need it again. Go ahead, sand and finish that antique radio cabinet. Paint that old record player. Slice yourself off a nice rectangle of plywood for that shelf you're putting up. Surely it's good enough for that! I'm sure if you're a professional construction worker at a job site, you may still get a little use out of it and won't cry if it gets stolen. Or maybe you'll use it till it falls apart, and chuck it into the next concrete pour! ;-) It's cheap! Good enough for occasional home use!

Great Workbench, Poor Assembly Instructions
The workbench itself is excellent. It folds up nicely for storage, feels very sturdy, and performs exactly as I expected once assembled. My only real complaint is the assembly instructions. Several of the leg components must be installed in a specific orientation, but the instructions simply refer to part numbers without clearly explaining the direction each piece should face. I assume the parts were intended to have identification stickers or markings, but the unit I received had no labels on any of the components. As a result, I had to spend some extra time figuring out the correct orientation on my own. Once assembled, however, the bench works great. It feels very stable and durable, and I was impressed with its strength. I even stood on top of it as a test, and it easily supported the weight of a full-grown adult without any issues. Overall, this is a solid, well-built portable workbench that loses a star only because of the confusing assembly instructions. If Powertec improved the documentation, this would easily be a 5-star product.

Excellent Product
I started my home improvement journey about three years ago. In that time I had been looking for a portable bench to take with me to different rooms of my house. This product was perfect for this application. It is light, strong, sturdy, and can clamp lumber for sawing. The bench has saved me enormous time and energy.

Aggravating to find your product to be a re-routed return.
I requested the POWERTEC Portable Small Workbench for permanently holding a 3-inch buffer machine so that the buffer wouldn't take up valuable space on my work table. Package arrived with tons of tape holding the box closed. I even found where there was tape on the inside of the end panels. And, one of the boards was scratched. Hmm, obviously this address was not the first destination. Started a return but pressing deadline needs dictated assembly and usage of the item. Thankfully, all the components were intact and included well-defined instructions for the assembly process. Assembly was a struggle though, because of arthritis in my hands as well as peripheral neuropathy. I'm glad the scratch was actually on the bottom of the affected board. Device is assembled and functions properly. Plus, you can't get anything like this at a better price point. I took off 2 stars because the item was returned by someone else and re-routed back out the door to me. I don't like paying prime price for something someone else has messed up. Other than that, product is good with following caveats: 1) Hardware is soft, especially the screws - you can strip the Phillips head fairly easily; & 2) Use sockets for assembly if you wish to save your knuckles and fingers from harm. The supplied "wrench" can be hard to keep on the nut when tightening.

Very satisfactory folding workbench
This is a very satisfactory folding workbench / vise; substantially equivalent to the Black and Decker Workmate that I bought 30 or 40 years ago and that is still doing good work. I was worried that such an inexpensive unit would be weak; but this one feels pleasingly sturdy, once it's assembled with everything tight. A number of reviewers have complained that various designs of folding workbench are difficult to assemble. This one took a substantial time (1 1/2 or 2 hours), but everything was reasonably straightforward. Some suggestions for assembly: (a) A reviewer mentioned that he needed a lot of force to drive the wood screws that hold the table top boards in place. I agree; I worried about stripping the screw head. The screws will go in much more easily and hold equally well if you lubricate them with soap: Just roll the screw threads on a bar of soap so they pickup a bit of soap, and then drive the lubricated screw into the pre-drilled hole. (b) The M6 bolts that hold the legs to the cross-bars don't have any locking system: I suggest putting the flat washer provided under the bolt head to give a better grip on the large hole, and adding a lock washer under the nut. If you don't have a metric lock washer, a 1/4" lock washer works fine. (c) One end of the crank assembly is designed to pivot around a single M8 bolt with a nylon-insert lock nut. On my unit, the nut was much too loose on both crank assemblies, so the outer board of the vise flopped around. Tightening these nuts more than a turn gave a tightness where the unit moved and pivoted smoothly and didn't flop. Check this before you screw the top boards to the crank assembly. I didn't notice the flopping until the unit was completely assembled, so I had to remove the 8 wood screws in order to get at the problem nuts. One suggested improvement: These workbenches usually have a shallow horizontal grove running down the inside of each vise jaw, which is very convenient when you need to grip a round object. This unit had a flat face with no groove. If you have a table saw, it is easy to cut a groove: 1/16" deep and 3/16" wide is about right.

Be informed
Hopeful but then reality set in. Have 3/4in aluminum bench dogs I’ve been dying to use. Received with both legs severely dented. Ok shipping accidents, but materials a thin and flimsy. Even if it wasn’t damaged it would not have he’d up well. Even hand sanding would probably be difficult it’s so light weight. But it is inexpensive I’m sure if it’s in good condition it may work for someone for the price.
