Belkin Pro Series Parallel Printer Cable (25 Feet)

-- A cost-effective cable! I needed to connect my ancient (but under-used) HP Laser Jet-II printer to my "modern" computers (that still have a parallel port). I'd considered using a USB-to-parallel cord, or a USB-to-parallel adapter (converter), but some of these have hit-or-miss reviews on this site, so I decided to go with this "older" solution. [Rare mention of a LJ-II out there, too!] The result is, I can now use the LJ-II (which still works splendidly) with either of 2 desktops, or with my Windows XP laptop. The proper drivers install quickly, and printing seems quick enough.-- IN SHORT: RECOMMENDED.

I sourced and purchased this Belkin cable at Amazon because of its remarkably low price there for the features I was seeking. It's a great deal for a 25' length printer cable of this type and it works perfectly. Now, I can connect and remotely operate my existing computer printer that I've manged to keep working way beyond it's anticipated lifespan. This' one small victory despite the computer printer industry's diabolical world of cross subsidy business models that totally dominates our printer markets.

Since my employers' work computer would not allow me to access my home network printer, I connected the printer via this cable to the computer effectively bypassing my home network. As the printer is located across the room from the computer, I used this cable to go up and over to the printer. Works fine, I am satisfied, and I would buy it again.

It was packaged nicely - hard to get open, but it kept it safe. We could not get the computer and printer to work together with it, but I don't think that was the cables fault because we put the old cable back on and then it didn't work either, so I think the port in one unit or the other went out.

If you have to run a legacy DOS program, it's getting progressively harder to find these things.There's also the issue of a maximum length for a functional parallel cable before things start malfunctioning.This one works just fine, and is inexpensive, as well.(So how much more can one rave about a rather intentionally mundane object?)

As expected

I used this cable to connect an old HP Laserjet 5 from across the room. It solved the distance problem and let me put new life into that old workhorse of a printer.I would definitely buy this again.

Bought this for a legacy application where using a USB printer cable was not an option. Great Belkin quality and I ended up paying $20 less for this cable shipped than I would have paid for it at an overpriced B&M store like Best Buy, Staples or Office Depot.
