Is the bowl the same as they stand up bag?

Not quite. The standup bag is more of a triangular shaped bag with a squared off bottom; it works great for sandwich cookies, pasta salads, or other things that might stack well. The “bowl” style has an oval shaped base and the opening isn’t rounded at the top. What that means is that you can squeeze the zipper of the bag at the sides and it’ll open up into a bowl shape nicely, while offering some dimension near the base of the bag which can assist in storing liquids better. Additionally, not being rounded at the top creates a perfect pouring spout if you wish to transfer your liquids more smoothly. I have both and I’d use both interchangeably but if I were planning on reheating stored soup in the microwave I’d definitely opt for the bowl style over the standup bag, since the standup bag is rounded off for the zipper. Heck, I’d also use the bowl style if I were using these bags to store various baking things like sugar or brown sugar because they’d pour nicely.
