This is the classic peeler that most people grew up seeing their family members use. It’s a simple design and it works. It peels veggies like nobody’s business. Cleanup is easy. I haven’t put it into the dishwasher, but it’s easy and quick to wash by hand, especially since if I’m using this peeler, then that also means I’m using my wood cutting board to slice veggies that I’ve just peeled with this peeler. Since the board gets hand washed, I go ahead and wash the peeler while I’m at it. It’s sharp and works well peeling along the contours of fruit and vegetables. It also takes off a nice thin layer, so I’m not wasting whatever I’m peeling. If I need to remove some more bad or blemished area I can just do another pass over the problem area.

This old fashion peeler cut through the vegetable skins like a knife! Very sharp and has a good handle for easy grip.

Fairly expensive for a cheaply made and uncomfortable to hold peeled. I guess I will throw it in the drawer to later be inherited and tossed out. In the meantime I will go buy a peeler that is cheaper and more comfortable. I am changing my review from my original. After revisiting this peeler several times I have come to enjoy it. I can reach places much easier and it is not as flimsy as it first felt. I now enjoy using this peeler and print a handle to slip into it if necessary. But it is much better and practical than I originally had thought it to.be.

For several years now I have been lamenting the loss of my pampered chef peeler. After a long love affair, I believe it was most likely stuffed in a camping tote somewhere in the back of our shed never to be seen or heard from again. Oh how I have regretted my unorganized ways. Whatever events lead to our being parted, peeling vegetables turned from being blissful joy to a distasteful drudgery. Since that time, I have purchased numerous peelers at the one local store that thrives in our small town. This attempt to replace my beloved Pampered Chef peeler was unfruitful to say the least. The first couple that I attempted to use not only peeled horribly but one of the peelers literally crumbled while in mid peel. Seriously? A peeler that falls in half before its even a week old? I continuously tried brand after brand and just to be fair, I even purchased several of each. This was futile. I began begging my family before Christmas of this year to find someone who sold pampered chef and surprise me with the peeler I longed for. After opening my anticipated gift, I was disappointed to find the same peeler that I had purchase previously from our local department store. My family noticed the obvious disappointment and asked, "isn't that the one you wanted?" I just thanked them as sincerely as I could muster and enjoyed the rest of the day. A couple of days later, after opening the peeler and optimistically trying it out for myself, I passive-aggressively asked if my husband wouldn't mind peeling the carrots for our dinner. He unwittingly agreed and then quickly begged for me to stop the torture. I had never seen a peeler quite as bad as this one. I had found some 'lemons' before but this one took the cake. My husband started with a carrot that had a top diameter of about 1 1/2 inches and after painstakingly peeling the outer edge, there was but a small stick-like orange shape left. It was only at that point that he was able to understand my request for the "Pampered Chef" peeler, and no, words were not necessary. As a woman who loves to cook and spends substantial amounts of time preparing food, I knew that this could go on no longer. Either I was going to find a suitable peeler or we would never again consume carrots, potatoes, cucumbers or any other vegetables that required peeling. After a thorough search, I decided to gamble and order the Linden Sweden Jonas Peeler Original. It was after all about 3 dollars more than I had previously been willing to risk. Desperate times call for desperate measures. When it arrived, I put it in the island cupboard drawer not wanting to be disappointed yet again. A heart can only break so many times. After working up the courage, I opened the package, washed the peeler and began peeling the carrot. Upon opening my eyes, I could barely see through the tears of joy. Since the peeler has been put into use, I have no problems getting volunteers help get dinner prepped. Actually, I noticed that we are going through carrots and other peelable vegetables quite quickly. While peeling carrots for school lunches the other morning, I mentioned that it was my dream peeler and that is when my husband broke out in, "Dream peeler, I believe you can get me through the meal..." Dancing ensued. It is possible that there is a better peeler out there but for our family, we are happy peelers once again. Peeling bliss has been restored!

I love this peeler. Easy to use and it stays sharp for a long time. It's a good product from Sweden.

Best peeler I've ever owned! Very sharp so peels smoothly with light pressure. The shavings are very thin which means less waste & more usable fruit or veg. Well designed with a nice long narrow ergonomic shaped handle. The blade is longer than other similar peelers, swivels smoothly & as mentioned is honed perfectly to easily peel thin strips off fruit or veg. I highly recommend spending the extra for a top quality peeler that makes peeling a breeze, you will recover the extra cost on less wastage & less time peeling.
