STOTT PILATES Split-Pedal Stability Chair with Handles

Misprint! It is black, not dark grey, which I was thrilled about. I wanted black but due to the sale, I was going to get gray. When I called the company, they do not have a dark grey. They have a light gray with is Gun Metal. I was so happy when it came and was black. I had to take it upstairs, so I took all the individual pieces upstairs one by one, due to box being very heavy. If you were to get from the competing company, it comes put together and close to 100 lbs, so that was not an option for me unless I wanted to pay for freight and service and order directly from them. You need to be very organized when putting this together, as it is easy to get bolts mixed up. If I was to do it again, I would write the part numbers printed in booklet on the bags and not open them until I was ready for the specific task. The wood is soft and will gouge easily, so be careful. Get your own wrenches out. It will be easier. Do as they say, do not tighten anything until everything is together. You may need to pull up on sides or shake a bit to get some bolts in and if you have tighten things, some may not go into the predrilled holes. DO NOT POUND OR TAP THE CARRIAGE BOLTS INTO THE HOLES!. When you tighten the nuts, they will pull into the holes by themselves, nicely. Someone said to use a piece of wood over them, to tap into the holes. Not needed. Use both the written directions and watch the YouTube video while doing. It is helpful to see what the written directions are not clear on. Watch a few times and follow with booklet, before you start. Due to helpful reviews from other people, I knew what to expect and was organized. The box is about 10-12' wide and about 3'x3'. 80+ lbs. It was well protected and packaged well. Take pictures of box before you bring it in the house if there are any issues. With all of that said, it came together perfectly, no damage in shipping, two men carried it to my entry. Delivered on time. Perfect transaction and product. I called and spoke to the company about some customer concerns re: customer service. They assured me, there would not be any issues and gave me an agent name to call directly if there was. The agent was actually surprised. He has been there close to 20 years and has not experienced that. I am going to call him today, as I did not get the DVD but I am sure he will send it out. Buy this with confidence. I am really glad I did.

Love this stability chair! I have some mobility issues and being able to have one of these at home makes all the difference. This was a good price for the chair, it’s extremely well built and was delivered efficiently. We used the link that came with it to assist in putting together. It went well. Good purchase.

The chair is awesome! Just be prepared to assemble with terrible instructions! The numbers and letters don’t match with the screw and parts so you’ll need the manual and pictures and some ingenuity to put this bad boy together. But it’s great once you make it through. It took three of us to figure it out!

I purchased this several months ago after doing Pilates mat work for years I wanted a greater challenge in strength training. This really fit the bill. It’s easy to use and follow the video and/or book instructions. It’s also great for limited space. It doesn’t wiggle around while you’re using it. It is a very well constructed piece of equipment. I paid an Amazon professional to assemble it for me and he got it together quickly for me, so I can’t comment on self assembly....I will say paying someone to do it for me was well worth the money.

This item arrived well packaged and with all parts intact. Assembly was straight-forward, though I did need to view the video (link is provided in the instructions) for a few of the steps. I've already used the chair and find it very sturdy and helpful for my exercises. The included DVD has helpful information/exercise routines included. So far I am very pleased with this purchase.

Great piece of equipment. Gave it three stars because mine didn’t come with any fastenings. That’s what the Canadian customer service rep called, nuts. Don’t bother using the instructions, nuts and bolts labeled differently. Definitely need a drill to tighten the carriage bolts. I’m very handy. Not sure someone who isn’t, could have put it together. By the looks of it, should have been quick and easy. Hopefully my workouts will be so terrific, I’ll forget the bad start.

After breaking the Malibu Pilates chair spring, I decided to upgrade to a real Pilates Chair. And the Stott Pilates is that and more. It's solid. You have to assemble it, but with patience you can assemble it perfectly in about an hour. There are four big springs (one heavy and one light for each foot platform. The vinyl padding is quite comfortable and thick. The large rectangular shaped pads for the foot pedals are excellent. This is an excellent piece of commercial quality gym equipment that will provide excellent muscular and aerobic conditioning. It comes with the Essential and Intermediate video that is good! I would have given it five stars, but it's not simple to change from split pedals to one pedal easily. But I think that it's probably better to keep the pedals split as then you can learn to balance out your muscles better since you would have to move the pedals at the same rate. I think the tension with the springs is very good and the movement is silent and smooth. Overall, this is an excellent, versatile, piece of gym equipment where you can do a variety of exercises to strengthen your entire body. And the product will last a long time! You get what you pay for! However, the Malibu Pilates to start out can be a very good program, too.

First of all it weighs a ton and once I got it all unboxed found that the screw holes on one side panel didn’t line up. Couldn’t be assembled as instructed. They also didn’t include the correct number of 2” bolts to attach even if the holes did line up. It was difficult to put back in the box to return to top it off.

I absolutely love my stability chair. It sits beautifully next to my V-MAX and has completed my home studio.

It’s fake!!! Not Merrithew, just a copy made in China even with a different brand name. Avoid!!!
