If you're leaving the printer on, the heads are exposed to air and this can cause ink in the nozzles to dry. The solution is to shut the printer off with the power button on the printer. That caps the heads so they're not exposed to air and should go longer before having problems. If a cartridge appears to have dried up, try running the print head cleaning routine on the printer. You may have to run it several times.

What's the difference between XL and regular cartridges?
