Diana Ross Double Feature: Mahogany/Lady Sings the Blues - Diana Ross - Mahogany Starring: Diana Ross, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Perkins, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Beah Richards, Nina Foch, Marisa Mell, Lenard Norris, Jerome Arnold, Pemon Rami. Lady Sings the Blues (1972) Diana Ross, Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor, James T. Callahan, Paul Hampton, Sid Melton Sid Melton, Virginia Capers, Yvonne Fair, Isabel Sanford. Review: Wonderful set of classic films - Diana Ross shines in these films from the 70s. "Mahogany" was a long time favorite of mine but I hadn't seen "Lady Sings the Blues" before. Both films are very entertaining and well-made. Picture quality is excellent. Mahogany is in original mono but "Lady" sports an excellent 5.1 soundtrack and the music really benefits from this mix. "Lady" also carries an array of bonus features including 20 minutes of VHS quality deleted scenes and a 23 minute making of which has new (at the time) interviews with Diana and Billy Dee. There's also an audio commentary track which I haven't heard yet but at the current price for under $9 for a 2 disc set with a good amount of bonus features, this is a really good value. The case is thin and has recycle symbols inside, but thankfully is NOT the cut-out type which causes artwork to be ruined in transit. Highly recommended. Review: Love! - LOVE Diana Ross. Period. I’ve seen both of these movies numerous times. Still fun/fabulous to watch

A pair of very good performances.
Both movies were better than expected, Lady Sings the Blues was an excellent job by Ms. Ross. Both stories are soap operas but well performed. The true Billie Holiday story is yet to be told.

Classic Movie
I love this combo movie set. I grew up watching both of these classic movies and could not find them unless I rented them. I decided to buy them so I could watch them anytime.

These two movies happen to be my all time favourate and I am happy that it is now available as a double feature. Wish there were a blu-ray version of Mahogany because of all the colourful costumes in the movie. While both movies are available on YouTube for free viewing but the DVD version is a bit sharper. Happy to have found these movies after all these years.
