AWOL VISION, 120' Fixed Frame, Serriform ALR Projector Screen, 80% Picture Quality Improved, 95% Ceiling Light Rejecting, Cinematic Screen, Ultra Short Throw, 170° Viewing Angle

Prior to purchasing this screen, I was using a 150" matte white acoustical screen. The problem with the previous screen, though, was the reflection that would come off it from a nearby window and, during the day, the image looked washed out. Given the price of this particular screen, I really hesitated on pulling the proverbial trigger (especially given my previous experience in buying a 20" larger screen for less than half the price). I can definitely say now, however, I wish I just went this route to begin with, especially when I compared this screen to my previous one. To begin, the screen was very well packaged with plenty of cardboard and foam, without overdoing it. Despite what looked like it could have been a rough ride given some damage to the box, everything inside was great and well protected. What really impressed me, though, was the assembly process. The exterior frame was essentially pre-assembled and simply needed to be unfolded. The structural members to secure the exterior frame after it was unfolded were built in to the frame, making it very easy to swing those members into place, secure with a few screws, and call it a day. There were also three support beams to help maintain stability and structure. (My previous 150" screen only had one.) Once the frame was together, next was the application of the screen itself. The screen was rolled on a large cardboard tube and, once unrolled, had to be flipped over for the next step in the process. While it may have been convenient for the screen to have been rolled up with the sides reversed, having the screen unroll with the display side up provided a good opportunity to ensure it was not damaged or scratched before it was attached to the frame. My anticipation grew upon that initial inspection because the screen is a gray color, not white. Attaching the screen to the frame was relatively easy, although it was a little time consuming. As opposed to my previous screen, which was held into place with tiny springs that were very difficult to work with (and kept popping off), this screen used metal (aluminum?) bars that were fed through the stitched pockets on the ends of the screen and were subsequently screwed into the frame. This made it very easy to assemble and ensure the screen was taught without any wrinkles. Once the screen was on, one more look confirmed that everything was good (no scratches), and then it was time to add the exterior frame, which did a great job of being minimal, yet covering any areas on the edge where the screen may not have been perfectly parallel with the edge. Once assembled, the screen was very sturdy and gorgeous. The next step was to mount the screen to the wall, and this was relatively easy as well given that a thin fabric wall template was included. Tape it to the wall, find the holes at the top (which were easy to find as there were also a couple cut-out arrows that pointed right to them), mark the holes, and then mount the wall supports. I have mounted large screens, mirrors, pictures, etc. on my wall before, but this system included an adjustable screw that could move up and down after installation to help level the screen once installed. It also included metal rods that hooked into the eyelet at the bottom end of the screw so the height could be easily adjusted with the screen on the wall. Overall, the assembly process was a little monotonous and time consuming, but it was very easy and the build quality was very impressive. I feel like I paid a premium price for this screen, but I also received a premium product. I feel as though I truly did get what I paid for, which is a good thing in this case. All that would be useless, however, if the screen did not perform well or as promised. To begin, the ambient light rejection works incredibly well. The reflection I had on my old screen from a nearby window is virtually non-existent now. My bright ceiling flood lights are also not as much of an issue (although the picture is still better with the ceiling flood lights off). When the room is dim, the image on the screen really pops. It does have a little bit of "sheen" on it from the screen material itself, but I would take that over the dull appearance that I had with my more traditional screen. Ultimately, there are only a few negatives that I can think of. First, it is an expensive screen. Is it worth it? I think so, but that is a very subjective measure. Next is that, unlike my last screen, this one is "solid" and is not an acoustically-friendly screen. I had a center channel wall speaker mounted behind my last screen (which was an acoustic screen). That was not an option for this screen, so I found myself having to move the screen and patch my wall. Kind of pain, but not really the screen's fault (if only I had known I would wind up with this type of screen eventually, I would have mounted the speaker in an appropriate position to begin with). Lastly, when the documentation states it is best to view from directly across the screen and, as you move to the left or right of that "sweet spot" the picture loses quality, that is true. I am not sure what they mean when they say there is a 90° viewing angle off to the sides. I would consider it to be more of a 45° angle. Once you move too far to the right or left, you lose the benefit of the UST-accommodating reflective nature of the screen. Then again, a 130" screen does give you plenty of real estate in front of the screen to accommodate a few people without someone having to sit outside that perfect viewing angle. So, in the end, this is an expensive purchase, but definitely well worth it for someone looking to squeeze the most performance out of their UST. The screen looks great on the wall even when I am not using it (given its gray color) and it looks even better when the UST is up and running. If you have the money and want a premium experience from assembly to viewing, this is definitely the screen for you.

After my 75" led tv died and after watching a bunch of reviews on Youtube I bought this screen to pair with an Awol Vision ultra short throw projector. Screen came well packaged . Screen was rolled up on a cardboard tube and shrink wrapped. The frame components and attachment hardware was stored in foam inside the tube. This tube was in its own box. This box was inside another box. This packaging has some weight to it but should significantly or entirely reduce damage during shipping. My screen came on the scheduled day. The packaging wasn't beat up. After inventorying the package contents, the assembly instructions were sufficient for assembly. The screen is msde up of multiole layers making it surprisingly durable. There is an arrow on the back of the screen so it is mounted on the wall in the correct orientation. Tensioning the screen was pretty straight forward once the hardware was installed. It took two people to hang the screen on the wall with the included mounting hardware. The assembly instructions described this procedure well. The inner and outer frames are sturdy and esthetically pleasing. Extra assemly parts were included. Screen size is approximately 89"L x50"H. Overall, I'm pleased with the screen so far. Watching 100" 3D movies is awesome. 2D movies, video games, and streaming services are very clear as well. Where I have my screen mounted, I do not notice any difference in picture quality as brightness of room changes because the screen is an ALR (Active Light Rejecting) screen specifically designed for Ultra Short Throw (UST) projectors in well lit rooms. If you're looking to upgrade or create a theater room in your dwelling, I would consider this screen. However; I have not tested other ALR screens in the same price range to see how they compare. This screen is for Ultrs Short Throw projectors. So, if you dont have a UST projector, this may not work with your setup . If it does, you may see a reduction in picture quality or need to optimize picture settings.

As others stated it is difficult to assemble. I usually dismiss that because I find things easy to assemble generally even when reviews state there were issues. In this case, the problem is that you need to have the same overhang of the screen on each side of the frame or the exterior frame pieces will not fit you and you need to start again. It was difficult and time consuming to do. The mechanical part of putting in a few screws was easy, but placement was time consuming. More importantly I don't find the screen to have a significant impact on brightness. I'm moving from a very bright long through 4K projector and traditional screen to a short throw AWOL and my prior setup handled light better so I'm a bit disappointed. This screen does lie flat on the wall well.

Great screen, even in the daylight it handles beautifully. I don’t even have a high tier projector, but this was an incredible upgrade from just using the wall. Well worth the price.

Pretty difficult to install and get lined up correctly with your short throw projector but well worth it! It looks like a normal TV.

This is my first foray into projectors (paired with the AWOL LTV-2500), so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, despite doing some major researching. So far, I’m very much in love with my new setup. Only a few minor gripes: 1. Assembly was tricky. The instructions were clear enough, but there was one aspect of the assembly process that was a major pain. You stretch the edges of the fabric screen around the outside of the metal frame and then anchor it in place on the back side with a bunch of spring hooks. If you don’t get the screen centered PERFECTLY, you simply can’t get the final frame cover attached. I can’t see any reason for it to be so unforgiving - we were only off the slightest bit and can’t imagine it affecting the image at all. We had to go back through and detach every single hook and then very carefully reattach the hooks, ensuring that the screen was perfectly centered and didn’t shift at all - really painstaking and ultimately taking way longer than expected to finish assembling. 2. If you’re hoping for the same kind of image you’d get on a flatscreen TV, you’ll want to lower your expectations just a bit. The resultant image is really great - crisp, colorful, and plenty bright - but it still has a slight ‘projector’ quality to it. In particular, it has the slightest shimmer/sparkle that reflects off the screen. It’s not a huge deal, and you pretty quickly forget about it, but it’s there. 3. I’m still cringing a bit that I spent so much on this screen. It’s certainly nice, but it’s easily the same price as a nice flatscreen TV. I’m not entirely convinced it needs to cost this much. In the end, I don’t regret this purchase, but recommend making sure you know what you’re getting. Probably closer to 4.5 stars for me.

Combined this with a Hisense PX3-Pro projector (sorry AWOL you really need to release a product to compete with this model) - it is a superb projector material. It takes an hour or two to build, but once its done, it's superb. Be very careful that your working surface is free of dust and debris or they might become visibly lodged between the screen and the mounting frame - requiring it to be taken down and redone (if it bothers you). Also be very careful/methodical when tightening and follow instructions. This is installed in my downstairs office / den and it does a great job of rejecting everything but the most direct of sunlight.

This is a premium product and priced as such. But if you're buying a UTS projector then you already know what you're getting yourself into. Setup isn't to be rushed. Take your time and follow the instructions carefully to ensure you align everything properly and don't have any inconsistencies in the screen. It's a good idea to clear a space larger than the screen before beginning setup. Picture quality is top notch for a projector screen. It's almost as good as a quality OLED... Almost. I think it looks best in a low light environment but the ALR technology will do a good job at making it look good in almost any environment.

Clear instructions and easy to assemble, picture quality is absolutely amazing. I would recommend and definitely buy again.

I bought the 120" ALR screen for AWOL VISION AU Direct. This came from China and arrived on time. Unfortunately the screen material did come with wrinkles across. The seller gave tips to rectify but unfortunately they didn't work. They didn't hesitate and sent out a new screen material, which was flawless. I also didn't have to send back the old screen. The seller was always in contact throughout the whole process. Always replied within 24 hours but usually quicker. I was kept up to date, and they made sure I ended up with a product I was happy with. Shout out to Winni, who looked after me. The product itself seems well built. Good viewing angles, and makes the projector watchable during the day. Instructions are ok. They did offer a video call service in case I needed further help, but I never used it. The wall brackets are flexible enough to place, so should suit most wall setups. The brackets also allow for some adjustments, if you only put one screw in, so you can make sure your frame is level before putting the second screw.

We have a dedicated theater room on the lower level of our home and previously projected onto the wall painted with special paint from our 3D projector. It worked great but even low lighting would seriously detract from the viewing experience. This was a problem for our youngest who is 7 yrs old and gets scared having it completely dark. When I saw this projector screen I was pumped to try it out because it has a larger viewing angle and a higher light rejection percentage. The installation can be tricky on your own (at least for someone spatially-challenged like me) partially due to the nature of the build as well as the instructions not being great. Fortunately my cross-level laser and a second pair of hands were a life-saver. You absolutely must install this with proper alignment. I read through other reviewer's experiences and took careful notes. I used a large space for assembly (we have an open concept walk-out basement) and laid it all out to take stock of all the parts first. After reading the instructions on a dry run we then did the full assembly. As another reviewer put it "It's easy but not simple" and it really does require careful attention to avoid rippling. Once that was done it was easy to set up. I don't have their personal brand of short throw projector, I have a mid-level one from another brand. I would love to invest in one of their projectors but it's not in my budget just yet however I was still able to have a good viewing experience with the screen. It is crisp, clear and vivid but it still has a hint of projector look to it. Having said that this is the best home projector screen I have seen in person and it by no means is low quality. It is really a great screen and it will be coming to the new house in a few months. Note: once assembled I could not fathom trying to disassemble and re-assemble this screen so it will be transported in one piece (thank goodness for walk-out basements with high ceilings and double doors.) Overall an excellent investment if you have a dedicated viewing area and the right projector

I have very mixed feelings about this projector screen. It was selling at £2300 when I placed the order so expected magnificent quality. I was very excited when placing that order for what seemed to be the best screen you can get in its category. Problems started when my husband and I tried to put it together… You need masses of space to achieve that, we had to move our furniture to another room in order to accommodate the “build process” as there is so many parts! Steps take forever to complete, we had two rooms in a mess for a couple of days to accommodate it and just for putting a screen together. It really shouldn’t take this long though we did only have time after work. Instructions weren’t very easy to follow, these could really do with more pictures showing each stage before/after. Very fiddly assembly and really need two people to do it. Very little room for error and you pretty much have to do everything right the first time around as there is little to no adjustment possible once in place, very frustrating, especially with poor instructions. Due to all of that, I was already regretting ordering that particular screen. The assembly should not be this difficult and time consuming, but most annoyingly - lack of any way of correcting things without taking it all apart again! The picture is good and I can see the quality of the screen itself, however, we will have to take it apart again to get rid off some of the waved edges because the frame and the whole process of assembling it really lets it down. As the result, I am not impressed for the money it sells for. Really wanted a screen with a frame but this is not at all how I expected and imagined it to be. Such a shame! Therefore, save yourself a hassle and find something with easier assembly of the whole thing, or wait until this one is improved.
