Really effective product. I used these for my black canvas Carhartt trousers which were very sun-faded and this worked a treat. This restored it to its original darkness which was perfect. I'd say use one pod per item of clothing. The only downside of this isn't due to the item itself, as after washing the clothes to make them clean and wet, you do have to run a cycle with the pod in then and completely empty wash cycle. Other than that this item is perfect.

I wear a lot of black, so this is really handy for giving faded clothes a bit of a refresh and making them look newer again. Works well and is easy to use, just feels a tad pricey for what it is. A one shot pod

TLDR; Great Dye, excellent results, but stitching threads are polyester not cotton, so will not dye. I used this dye to dye a pair of motorcycle jeans from Tan to Black. I also used the Dylon pre-dye beforehand, but given how black these came out I’m think I could’ve skipped it. The dye is easy enough to use, though you do end up running the washing machine for about 6+ hours, as a full cotton cycle is 2 hours at 40oC and a minimum of three are required. I followed some advice in another review and put TWO of these dye pods in to dye one pair of jeans. I can’t vouch for how they’d have come out with only one pod, but they came out great with two! I washed with pre-dye at 90oC, then a normal cotton cycle at 40oC, then the actual dyeing, and then a final full cotton cycle after the dyeing to remove excess dye. Now for the things worth noting! Almost all jeans use polyester thread for the seams, which this dye will not dye. This lead to me having lovely black denim, but with tan thread. Thankfully I think it’s cooler than all black, but if you’ll want to bear this in mind if you have a bright colour stitching. Secondly, this did dye the brown leather patch on the back, seemingly permanently. The pre-dye required a wash at 90oC, which shrank the leather patch too. Though that isn’t a mark against the dye pods. Overall, I’ll definitely be using these again. Follow the instructions fully and you’ll get great results.

The colour is good - I used black. My washing machine is ruined though. I have had prob up to 6 subsequent washes with 2 of them being 90C empty loads with specific machine wash detergents. I have also hand scrubbed all the accessible areas. I am still seeing a considerable amount of black flecks and smearing coming through each time i run a cycle. Not suitable for any subsequent whites. 3 days after the event, I have no other options but to purchase a new machine. Mine is 7 years old not sure if the newer machines are getting rid of this stuff easier. Won't be using in a washing machine again.

Amazing product I would highly recommend it!! I had some faded blacks which looked charcoal and worn, they all now look dark black, and are even and uniform. I put 3 dresses (Tshirt / stretch) fabric items in the cycle along with a pair of jeans, so 4 items in total. They all look brand new and back have been brought back to life! I will definitely be purchasing and using again in the future. Go-Dylon-Go 👏

Dylon washing machine black dye is a total nightmare in a packet. I followed every instruction and still spent hours this morning with tweezers, picking hundreds of tiny black flakes off my clothes. Worse, every smudge spread, ruining an entire load of whites worth hundreds of pounds. After multiple rinse cycles, my washing machine still smears black residue. If this doesn’t clear, I may have to buy a whole new machine. Dylon, the unfixable damage caused by your product is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. To anyone thinking of using this product, steer clear, unless you want your entire wardrobe and your washing machine ruined. Update: The dye flakes are still present and have now spread throughout the entire washing machine, embedding themselves in every crevice. Even after additional rinse cycles, cleaning the machine appears virtually impossible, and I may now be facing the cost of replacing the washing machine entirely.

Easy - less hassle than it used to be! No salt, no mess, no fuss. Pop in clothes (no more than 600g of fabric per pod) and the pod and run a 40 degree cycle. True black - no issues at all. I used 2 pods for 3 separate pieces across 2 loads. All came out perfectly.

Did the job, wanted to re-black some black some shirts. Clear easy to follow instructions. I was scared a little about black residue on my other clothes but followed the instructions about how many cycles to do, including the empty one and it was fine. Would buy again.

I've used this dye three times - to dye faded grey jeans to blue, and to dye clothes back to black. You need to read the directions and have enough dye to dye the amount of clothes. The first time, I didn't order enough dye, so the 2nd & 3rd times I bought 3 blue pods to dye 2 pairs of jeans, and 5 pods to dye 2 pairs of black jeans & a shirt. I have a front loading washing machine. I followed the instructions as given, washing the clothes first. Because I had multiple pods, I opened up the pods & poured the contents of the pods directly in the machine (this is what the instructions say). I used gloves the entire time as the dyes will stain your hands. I ran 4 loads total. To get the dyes out of the washing machine, I used bleach in the last cycle I ran. I also had to wipe down the washing machine with paper towels that had bleach on them. The dye job was perfect and I'm buying more black dye now for another set of clothes. YES buy this if you have a front loading machine.
