Canon EOS 1300D - Quiet Camera with great images.
The following review is from my 14 year old daughter, who saved for over a year to purchase this EOS camera. From my point of view, she has been very happy with the device and is constantly using it. She only has the lens that came with the camera at this stage, so all images were taken with the device as shipped. Over to Libby for her review: This camera is an exceptional device, it is both easy to use and produces amazing results. It is usable in many modes for both portrait and landscape pictures of anything from people to places. Using many of the different modes it is easy to produce the best photographs in low light and blazing sun. It is easy to recharge and to carry thanks to the the included strap which is reliable and resilient. The camera is also equipped with a self focusing mechanism that is incredibly useful and allows for even better close up photos. Thanks to the cannon app as well the pictures are easily obtainable from a mobile device without the use of a cable which is lucky because when I received the camera the only downside was the broken USB cable meaning it couldn't be plugged into the computer to transfer photos. Other than that the camera has had a long battery life and exceptional results. It is definitely a product I recommend to both the experienced and beginner photographer, especially for outdoors use because of it's almost non-existent shutter noises and its ability to focus on moving figures in sports mode.

Well deserved 5 stars.
I would just like to start this off by saying that all that I have written is from my own experience with the product. First off, the package arrived a few days later than expected due to complications with the delivery services. Whilst this was not a huge problem, it was rather annoying. Never the less, after emailing the company I received a lot of help and the package arrived shortly. AND it arrived in PERFECT condition! I really have to say that this camera is amazing in its quality and structure. It's sturdy and slightly weighty (which is what I think makes it look like such a high quality camera). It is so much fun going out with this piece of equipment and really gives me more of an incentive to go out on random walks. There are so many amazing creative effects such as; -A Fisheye Effect -A Toy Camera Effect -A black and white filter And a few more. You can also change the aperture, shutter speed, and also, the colouring/filter of the image so that it suits the lighting ad your surroundings. Both the auto focus and the manual focus work incredibly well and give you the ability to capture crisp and sharp images- not to mention the various options available (portraiture, night portrait, landscape, sports, food. Etc). The images I have attached to this review are all from the first time I took this gem out and I am so impressed with the quality. And the fact that I can easily transfer my images from the camera to my smartphone through the free app makes the whole process of sharing my images on sights such as Flickr and Instagram so much easier! I would gladly recommend to anyone who is either starting out in photography or even someone who's been taking photographs for a while. This really is a stunning price of equipment!

Great Camera!
I've never owned an SLR camera although it's always been something I have always wanted to have. I now have a 2 year old and thought I had the perfect subject to practice on. I bought based on reviews mainly as it said it was a pretty good starter camera and there are so many to chose I felt daunted with all the choice. I have to say it's exceeded my expectations! I really love it! Had a few friends with a canon camera but older models, you can really tell the difference with this camera. I haven't ventured far from the auto settings on the camera (close up, sports mode, portrait etc) and if I'm honest I'm not quite sure how to do that yet but for now the photos I'm getting are more than what I wanted. They're clear, crisp images. The camera isn't too heavy to hold. The option to immediately download onto my phone is brilliant! Great for instantly sending to family and show off my new hobby. The camera was easy to set up, easy to point and shoot and get a great image. I'd recommend this 100%. I am a complete noice with SLR's and I find it very easy to use. I do have other cameras but never one as in depth as this. I am really looking forward to my holiday to Cornwall this year to practice some more!

Very good entry level Slr camera. Some limitations but nice to use.
Canon 1300D is the entry level canon. It now finds itself amongst mirrorless cameras such as the sonny A5100. Compared to these it's much bigger although chances are when you attach a lens the difference doesn't matter too much as neither will fit in a pocket . Also the Sony might suit video better as it focuses whilst filming whilst you have to pre focus the Canon first before shooting. However there are some big advantages to the SLR. The first is there's a greater choice of lenses available. Next is the optical view finder. Far easier to find what you are shooting at than on a screen particularly in sunlight. If you like wildlife for example can quickly pick the camera up, find it in view finder and snap an image. And taking pictures is a joy on this Canon. It's very easy to use, adjust settings and experiment. But on program or auto it'll reliably take good shots too. However if you know what you're doing can do even better. For example i use shutter priority for photos of my dogs to freeze movement. I have a Canon 18 to 200 lens which provides a good focal range. This lens is good outdoors. Could be sharper at full wide angle and a bit slow in poor light meaning the camera has to bump up iso. The sensors good too. It's been bettered by Nikon but I had Canon lenses so this made sense. Transferring pictures using Wi-Fi to phone or tablet is also handy. There's something satisfying about using an SLR that mirroless doesn't quite match. I had Canon mirrorless M10 but none of my standard Canon lenses focused properly even with mount so this seemed like the obvious choice and dedicated ef-m lenses way too expensive so sold that and got this. Also wanted view finder. Shame it doesn't swivel like the M10 but not a big deal breaker. I like the colours and exposure which seem spot on. The lens is probably the limiting factor. 18 to 200 is compromised but useful. Think a prime lens for indoor use will be my next purchase.

For a beginner must have camera
Hi first of all this camera is absoult great for the money I own the canon 80d but the misses wanted a camera like mine so we decided to go for the canon 1300d. it is impressive for the money it's a great camera if your starting out in the photography world. The lens I used for the picture you see wasn't the kit lens u get with the camera,so your aware I used the 10-18mm efs lens. This camera can also double up with your phone so u can transfer images straight away with out the use of a computer or u can use your phone as a second screen so if you do portrait photos u can show the subject what it will look like before the shot has been taken. The only thing I will say that isn't to great is the fact it takes a while for it to focus on the subject you want But if u are serious bout photography and want a good slr camera to start learn with before u upgrade to the more expensive ones then this is a great one to start of with

Then I did a crash course in photography via Youtube/internet and realised this is 'Not' a good camera. It's only when I started to play
Ok.. I'm not one for reviews but.. After owning this camera for one week I though it was a 'Great beginner Camera'.. Then I did a crash course in photography via Youtube/internet and realised this is 'Not' a good camera. It's only when I started to play, I found the limitations of the 1300D. I then did some research and purchased the 200D and OH MY GOODNESS.. With out going into the why's and against's (and if you can afford the extra (which I urge)) you will not be disappointed. This is the 'Starter' and beyond camera. Have a search of 200d v 1300d on Youtube; In fact I would say Learn the photography basics then start Youtube'ing. For me Knowing what I now know re Photography (which is way more than when I initially purchase the 1300d.) The 200D is 'Value for money'. Like I say I'm not one for writing reviews but Im so impressed with the 200D I felt I needed to save the Photo Noob's from making the same initial mistake I made. All the Best.

Great camera for a beginner
Great camera for a beginner. Light and small, which is great for travelling. The only thing I regret was buying the camera with the kit lense. I recommend buying the body only, and a separate lens like Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM (for landscape) and or EF 50mm f/1.8 stm (for portrait). The fully manual mode is great to learn photography (I don't use auto modes very often, only Aperture priority or Shutter priority modes from time to time which are ok). A really nice feature is the ability to connect the camera via peer-to-peer wifi connection with a tablet or a smartphone with a Canon's app installed. The app lets you control all the camera's settings and take pictures, which is especially nice on a tablet with a bigger screen.
