I bought the Slick Gorilla hair styling powder for my sons and my husband and they all absolutely love it. It gives their hair great volume and texture without making it look greasy or heavy. The finish is natural and matte, which looks much better than shiny gels or waxes. It is really easy to use, just a small amount shaken onto the roots and worked through with fingers. It holds the style well throughout the day but still allows the hair to move naturally. They also like that it does not leave any sticky residue on their hands. This has definitely become a regular in our house now. Great product, works well on different hair types and keeps their styles looking fresh all day.

I am a child of the 80's. The main hair products available at that time were mousse and gel. Anything with at least an 'extra, extra' hold rating would suffice! Gel came in a variety of colours which had no effect on your hair whatsoever, and I would put about as much as i could onto my head to ensure a nice thick covering to maintain the 'wet look' all day. You could have dropped a bowling ball onto my head and it would of cracked in two. Then came wax, and hair didnt have to look wet all day. Suddenly the idea of 'less is more' became popular, a a standard tin would last months instead of days. In more recent years we have been treated to 'putty, mud and paste'. Thus far I have refrained from applying mud to my hair, but I do like to keep abreast of new and innovative hair products, while I still have hair to style. I saw a couple of videos of people applying texturizing powder and being the modern man I had to try it for myself. The bottle arrived and the first thing I noticed was how much space was left in the container. Yes, the description says its 20 grams but the bottle could probably hold 50. I liberally dusted my hand with the powder and rubbed it into my palms as instructed. I was hoping for something that wouldn't leave my hands as sticky as wax did, but the powder quickly turns into a paste which you then run through your hair and style as normal. Once in however, it doesnt leave your hair feeling sticky. My hair is quite thick so I am always looking for something that gives it a bit more style rather than looking like a solid mass on my head. The product itself works quite well and I was able to style some definition into my fringe, and was able to rework throughout the day. It doesn't provide a firm hold so the wind is its natural enemy but again, a quick ruffle with my fingers and it returned to formation. My main gripe would be the amount you get. Assuming you use 1 gram per use (more if you want more definition), the bottle will last less than 3 weeks. I have tubs of wax that are still half full after several months. So it comes down to weather or not the extra cost is offset by superior styling. Personally I did like the product, but I dont think I can justify the cost to sit in an office all day with fabulously styled hair. I may save it, and break it out for special occasions.

Fairly affordable, light weight hair powder that adds significant texture and styling properties to hair, especially naturally straight or flat hair. Using a lot of the powder can cause it to accumulate and shed a little bit when moving or scratching hair, but I found this very minor.

Excellent: 1) the volume is smaller than I expected, but I haven't ran out of it after two months use 2) the product works as described, easy to apply and style your hair with it 3) it's not as sticky and smelly as hair gel and hair wax 4) the downside of this product is the time for shipment. It takes about two weeks to ship it to Canada (maybe because it was from UK?)

Incuriosito dalle recensioni positive del prodotto mi sono finalmente deciso di acquistarla e provarla, nonostante avessi avuto brutte esperienze in passato con polveri di altri brand. Premetto che ho tantissimi capelli lisci e fini, ragion per cui è veramente complicato riuscire a gestirli senza utilizzo di prodotti adeguati quali pomate, cere, spray volumizzanti e, appunto, queste note polveri, che negli ultimi tempi stanno avendo un discreto successo. Parlando proprio di polveri modellanti/volumizzanti devo dire che non mi ci sono mai trovato completamente, in quanto sono veramente difficili da utilizzare correttamente per chi, come me, ha i capelli molto fragili e sottili, quindi di difficile gestione e inclini a spezzarsi facilmente. Nel mio singolare caso la rapida azione di fissaggio di questi prodotti rende veramente complicato ottenere un look ordinato e pulito, ragion per cui è estremamente fondamentale riuscire ad utilizzarla in una maniera quasi maniacale, cercando di essere il più rapidi e precisi possibile. Risulta poi altrettanto importante utilizzarne il giusto dosaggio, in quanto basta veramente quel poco di polvere in più ( magari caduta pure per sbaglio ) per ottenere dei risultati disastrosi. Con il tempo una persona sicuramente ci prende la mano, ma non posso negarvi che le giornate in cui mi ritrovavo con dei capelli senza senso, appiccicosi e disordinati per via di un utilizzo errato di queste polveri non erano poi così rare, ragion per cui decisi di non utilizzarle più per un pò di tempo, concentrandomi su prodotti più semplici che, ahimè, non davano comunque la stessa sensazione di volume. Qualche mese fa il mio barbiere mi chiese se volessi provarne una nuova che gli era appena arrivata, spiegandomi che fosse differente da quella che utilizzavo. Inizialmente ero riluttante all’idea ma poi, incuriosito, decisi di provarla, e notai subito che si comportava diversamente dalla mia precedente polvere, portando a risultati leggermente migliori ma non ancora accettabili. Quando confrontai gli “ingredienti” con la mia polvere mi resi subito conto che si trattava di prodotti leggermente differenti, e questo mi portò allora ad avere un’idea: quella di testare differenti polveri per riuscire a trovare quella più adatta alle mie esigenze. Preso dalla curiosità decisi quindi di provare polveri volumizzanti di diversi brand, alcuni più noti altri meno, per poter fare una sorta di confronto e valutare se potessero esserci polveri migliori degne di nota, o se esistesse appunto la polvere perfetta per la mia tipologia di capello. Questa polvere volumizzante/modellante della Slick Gorilla è una di quelle che mi hanno colpito maggiormente, ed è per questo che ora vorrei recensirla per voi. Già dal primo impatto il risultato finale è stato molto positivo, perchè ho notato che a differenza di altre polveri questa, in particolare, risulta meno "invasiva" e "appiccicosa", rendendo molto più semplice modellare i capelli per ottenere il look desiderato. Un altro punto a favore è proprio il fatto che, essendo meno forte e aggressiva, è possibile anche poterli rimodellare una seconda/terza volta, in quanto il margine di tempo necessario per farla "indurire" è maggiore rispetto ad altri prodotti. Questa sua qualità mi ha permesso spesso e volentieri di poter “recuperare” un primo risultato magari andato malino, evitando quindi di dovermi rifare lo shampoo e perdere ulteriore tempo a riasciugarmi i capelli, tra l’altro danneggiandoli ulteriormente. Essendo più “delicata” rispetto ad altre polveri mi aspettavo problemi di tenuta nel tempo, invece rimasi sbalordito quando mi resi conto che, a fine giornata, i capelli erano ancora puliti e perfettamente ordinati, nonostante magari il forte vento o l’umidità eccessiva. Anche al tatto ho notato che i capelli riescono a mantenersi morbidi, quindi la sensazione di “pesantezza” che ottenevo con altre polveri in questo caso non è presente, a tratti sembrerebbe quasi che non abbia usato nessun prodotto e questo mi ha positivamente sorpreso! Ricordo a tutti che si tratta di una polvere di qualità affidabile che non danneggia il capello, quindi diffidate dalle notizie false che circolano sul web, perché se dovessimo paragonarla con altri prodotti di hair-styling più usati come ad esempio la lacca vi assicuro che restereste sorpresi dal risultato finale. Siate comunque prudenti con le quantità, in particolare se avete tanti capelli, perché come tanti altri prodotti l’esagerazione non porta mai a niente di buono, ragion per cui vi consiglio di guardarvi qualche video sul web che vi spieghi per filo e per segno come utilizzarla correttamente o, in alternativa, chiedere consiglio al vostro barbiere di fiducia. La mia valutazione finale per questo prodotto è di 5 stelle, mi sento di assegnargli la valutazione piena perché, se confrontata con prodotti simili, risulta essere una delle migliori polveri attualmente in commercio, se non la migliore in assoluto! Ovviamente considerate sempre che non può essere una valutazione completamente oggettiva, in quanto ognuno di noi ha una sua tipologia particolare di capello ed è quindi scontato che questi prodotti non garantiscano lo stesso effetto per tutti. Per quanto riguarda i capelli lisci e sottili, inclini a spezzarsi facilmente, mi sento comunque di promuoverla a pieni voti. Consigliata! :)
