Excellent ankle support – worth paying extra
I’m genuinely impressed with this McDavid ankle support. I wore it for a full 2 hours of football and played on a hard surface, and for the first time in ages I finished with zero ankle pain and no limp afterward. The support is spot-on — stable without feeling restrictive, and comfortable enough that I barely noticed it once I was playing. It doesn’t dig in, doesn’t rub, and doesn’t feel bulky in boots. I had full confidence in my ankle the entire session. I could honestly wear this all day it’s that comfortable (not that I plan to), which says a lot about the design. Cheaper supports I’ve tried before either did nothing or were uncomfortable — this one actually works. More expensive than some, but 100% worth it. If you play sport and want real ankle support without sacrificing comfort, I’d highly recommend it.

Absolute lifesaver – got me through a full golf holiday
I injured the outside of my ankle just before a golf holiday and honestly thought I’d be cancelling. After trying this ankle brace, it completely changed things. It gave me exactly what I needed: solid support and stability without restricting movement or feeling bulky in my shoe. I was able to walk 18 holes repeatedly over the course of the holiday, including uneven terrain and sidehill lies, with no major flare-ups. I wore it only for golf, iced after rounds, and the combination worked perfectly. Without this brace, there’s no chance I’d have been able to play. Comfortable, well made, and confidence-boosting — I wouldn’t travel or play golf with an ankle issue without it now. Highly recommended for sport-specific use.

Sturdy and comfortable
Fantastic braces that give you great support and confidence, while retaining the flexibility to jump and turn in agile sports. I wear them playing a basketball-type sport for up to 2hrs at a time several times per week and find them quite comfortable given the strong support. After a few sprains I wear them for prevention and have not had a problem since. Highly recommend. Well worth the money.

Great support for weak ankles
Tried various ankle supports over the years and had given up playing 5 a-side because none of them gave me the support I needed. Read about the McDavid and decided to give it one last try. Have been using them for 5 months now and so far so good. Would definitely recommend the support for anyone who has a tendency to roll their ankles.

With sport in mind!
As a rugby player in my youth, this would have been a valuable item for the ankle I broke three times in a long playing career. It seeks to,replicate the stirrup strapping good tape men use to help rehabilitate injured sportsmen. It achieves this quite well, but needs a little practice to get it right. My past injuries, now 30 years on have resulted in a permanent weak ankle. The McDavid serves to deliver a level of support, but relies on some compression as well as the strapping support. My feelings are that it would give better support if it extended further up,ones leg. I felt it just a little low on the calves to give real long lasting support. It helps, it's not uncomfortable to wear and is well made, quality structure and worth it's money. I also have air filled jell cushion supports that fit inside two solid plastic templates that fit on each side of my ankle. These supports, although twice the price, deliver better long term support. One fears that surgery is probably now a more realistic solution to quite a debilitating condition

Sleek and sturdy ankle brace
Sleek and sturdy ankle brace, laces are long give a custom fit and good quality to not get torn by touching the Velcro. The diagonal straps stabilise the foot pretty well and stays are really holding. Not too bulky so it fits in most shoes

Strap stitching faulty
Really liked this ankle brace. Worn the Aircast A60 previously and prefer this. I had ordered another and the day before it arrived the strap came off. So although comfortable with good support I only got to wear it about 10 times and it’s not cheap!

I've been playing soccer my whole life and starting twisting my ankles consistently in my early twenties. I invested in these braces about 10 years ago and have never looked back. They are absolutely amazing and I would never play again without them. Keep in mind that they take some getting used to at first, much like new shoes but over time, you won't even know you're wearing them. Also, it is recommendable to go for a larger size than your actual shoe size.

I bought this product after twisting my ankle one week before Tough Mudder SOcal. During my event, this brace worked flawlessly, and comes highly recommended. I do a lot of hiking on uneven terrain, and came close to twisting my other ankle. So I decided to buy the other highly reviewed ankle brace, ASO Ankle Stabilizing Orthosis. The good points: They both work on the same principle, and are both effective at their purpose. A tight fitting, but still flexible foot brace, with two cross straps, and one around the lower shin/upper ankle strap. They both get a 5 star rating from me, there are minor differences between the two, with which I will list here: The McDavid is tighter on the top of the foot, and is harder to remove. Tends to be slightly uncomfortable if overtightened. You have to untie multiple laces to be able to remove it. It feels more snug than the ASO. I would say this one offers slightly better support around the ankles, at cost of more discomfort. Good if you have more of a severe sprain. The ASO gives you more mobility, still with great support on the ankle. Easier to remove. I wear 9.5 shoes, so I have medium for both. Overall, they are both good, but the McDavid feels slightly tighter on the foot. I still give both 5 stars, since they both perform as designed.
